I tested Sidearm Capacity last night. It increased max ammo capacity for an SMG in a light slot. I think that the weapon types stays the same no matter what slot it's in.

I'm wondering if specializing in recon is viable this build with the addition of new scanning skills and equipment. I'm still trying to figure out exactly how the active scanner works. I like the idea of playing a scout as an actual scout.

The strafing nerd has made it where scouts can't be played as circle-strafing combat monsters anymore, making them rely on stealth, speed, flanking, etc. You know, the way scouts should be.

It'd be nice to get some indication of any indicators that are revealed by an active scanner. Maybe something like they blink for a second or have a bracket around them or something. Just so you know your active scanner is doing any good or not.

As long as you aim at the target, have ammo and have the trigger pulled, yeah, it does damage over time. But then again, all weapons do.
