Well I'm a cal logi player.
I'm not such a tryhard that I run a single nanohive and thats it. I've filled my equipment slots in every single fitting.
My standard CB or "most competitive" fit for those occational hard pub games has been;
- Proto Uplink - Proto Medkit - Proto nanohive
4 extenders and 1 recharger
Duvolle AR Core nades
Proto CPU uppgrade Proto PG uppgrade (Edit: not sure if proto or enh.) Proto green stamina thingy Basic armor plate
This is a combat/support hybrid fitting. Not really a match against a well specced proto assault suit, but not so bad that I can't stay in and fight and do some damage.
Keeping everything the same is not a viable option. I feel that I sort of have to fit at least one shield regulator, just to get the benefit of the new racial bonus, so my armor plate is thereby lost. And together with the racial bonus I lose 65+ 66 shields equals - 131 HP, taking my suit down from 752 HP down to roughly 615 HP. This change I don't have a problem with, although I'm not especially fond of the new racial bonus...
Its the loss of CPU that worries me. I haven't run the numbers, but I highly doubt I can keep the same fitting as mentioned above.
So where do I reduce the tier of my modules to find a fitting that works? I don't really see using 2 CPU upgrades as an alternative.
Do I put on a GEK? - No, I'm not gonna come with a vanilla gek vs assaults running Duvolles with 2 damage mods... Do I get a smaller nade? - No, as a logi I don't have a sidearm and I'll keep the weapons I have... Will I reduce my tank or stamina? No way, not in a million years!
So what is left? Yes its that proto equipment.... I might have to remove it or reduce it down a tier or two.
So in effect; the patch that is supposed to make me more of a Logi and less of an assault player, will perhaps have the exact opposite effect, not a smart move IMO. |

That's because you're an Assault player Babar, don't kid yourself. You spec'd into a Logistic Suit with the intention of being a killer as well as logistic support. DUST is meant to be about choices, this suit lets me be a killer or a very very good logi, but if you sacrifice the prototype logistic gear, then you can find a good medium ground. |

Letting go of the Duvolle would pretty much equalize the CPU reduction and allow you to keep most of the rest as it is. Without damage mods you loose a few meters of range and about 6% in damage. Not exactly worth it if you're not going to focus on doing maximum damage.
If you want to prioritize dmg and tank over logistics you can still do that. The changes just made it so that you can't get away with both combat and logistics capabilities at the same time.
A focused logistics would ask "what do i have to change if i want my equipment stay as strong as possible" You are asking yourself "what do i have to change if i want my tank/gank stay as strong as possible"
Before the changes everyone was like "proto ALL THE THINGS" and that was a big part of the issue. |

Make logi suits like logi ships in EvE, force logi players to actually be logi by removing weapon slots. Give logi suits dedicated slots for rep-tools with appropriate bonuses towards suits/vehicles/installations and reward them properly with WP.
My alt would happily lose the weapon in favour of pure logi plus bonuses and rewards. |

Before the changes everyone was like "proto ALL THE THINGS" and that was a big part of the issue.
They should have removed a high slot from the CaLogi suit, and balanced CPU/PG because of that. It would have forced people to think about being a logistics even more, since shield AND damage tanking wouldn't be that viable at the same time anymore.
Right now you can still shield and damage tank quite well. The ability to be a killer hasn't been dealt with.
So what am I left with. Supporting the team or killing and staying alive? EVERY logistics player should ALWAYS go for killing and staying alive first. If you wanna argue this matter, feel free, I'm up for it. The simple answer is "you can't help anyone if you're dead."
So yeah, I'm gonna keep my tanking and all that and sacrifice proto logistics equipment to be able to still fit my things. Because after all, I wouldn't be a good logi if I am bleeding out on the ground... |

Yes seriously, this is New Eden not 21st century Earth! Clearly you have no clue how logistics works in New Eden. Logi keeps the frontline alive, they are not supposed to be dealing damage. The current dust logi is a bastardisation of assault and logi and yes I'm guilty of capitalising on that.
A logi with an insane tank and support from multiple logis would give a new dimension to dust, its only people like you that want the best of all worlds. |

I'll say it again, but the Caldari Logi just needs a low slot removed and nothing else. No CPU reduction is needed.
The Amarr and Caldari Logi are meant to be combat logis while the Gallente and Minmatar Logi are less combat oriented.
Please get out of here with the suggestions of restricting logis to sidearms, or removing the weapon slot alltogether. Supporting your team with gunfire is a job for the logi as well, both the combat logi and the pure logi, although it's more important for the combat logi.
CCP also need to implement a proper Assault suit bonus as well. +2 or 3% damage per level should be the Assault suit bonus. |

It can still kill things pretty licely. You're just not better at it than the guy who's job it really is. And that's what is being argued here.

My honest take on it
Minmatar Logi +10% equipment ammo *so at level 5 you get 50% more equipment makes it more temping doesn't it? +50% range for shield transfers
This mod is suppose to be in the game soon
Then give ammar logi a huge 50% bonus to healing range 10% more armor from plates
Caldari logi can be focus on equipment with... 20% bonus per level to the sluppy of nanohives 10% more shield extenders per level
And finally gallente is fine with the cpu/pg reduction in fitting, but it should be a little bigger imo. And I wish we had some more EW in dust allready. Like webs....
Btw In eve online logi ships work the same way. If you don't fit shield reps and thus abandon the role, the payoff is the cap battery that can run a large shield rep stable on a almost frigate sized ship. Also made a great tackle ship. Dust should be the same way. |

You're not making your case any better...
This is an FPS. First Person SHOOTER! Why would I wanna run around in a suit that has no weapon slots?
And the New Eden argument is really getting old. This IS NOT a space point-and-click game!!! The games may share the same backdrop but that is it.
It's the Eve-tards that have ****** this game up anyway. Already having the ears of CCP, they lobbied for their views and got the wrong bits of Eve into Dust.
This is a game where you CANNOT warp out of danger in the middle of the match, unless you quit the game.
This is a game where you CANNOT carry drones or other modules that can shoot back at the enemy.
A logistics ship in Eve can still do their bit, they are not toothless. Yet you want the Logi in Dust to run around completely defenseless running against all logic.
What mercenary would take on the role as logi on the fields of New Eden? Noone! Can you imagine the job interview?
- I'm here for the position as logi. - Excellent. Sign here, and leave your weapon on the shelf there. - Leave my weapon? Why? - We don't allow weapons on logis. - F*** that! I'm off.
Yeah... not gonna work.
Again, because this can't be said enough:
This is a SHOOTER not a space point-and-click game!!! |

I don't believe that's what he meant.
Assaults priority is killing Logistics priority is logistics.
That's not to say neither can do the other, but a Logistics primary should always be logistics, their secondary should be killing, Assaults primary should always be killing, their secondary is logistics (through the use of nanohives, uplinks or Injectors)
If you choose to play as a Logistic Killer, you should not be as effective as an Assault Killer, whos primary role is which you're trying to do as a Logistic.
Personally, I believe all Logistic Suits should have a damage reduction penalty built into the suits, that would ultimately fix the suit and offer it as support, whilst still being able to get kills at a reduced rate (What's the point in putting damage mods on if you've already got a -15% Damage Modifier built in?)

The first thought in my head when I read the list was "Probably downgrade on proto weapons and grenade. It's a logistics suit. Duh."
Then when I saw "combat/support hybrid" I thought "Hybrids don't usually have the best of everything."
Then I saw the reasons for not reducing weapons and thought "It's a logistics suit. Sounds like you want to be more assault than anything."
Then I read the bit with reducing prototype equipment and thought "Well there you go. You can still support your team, albeit less effectively, and can be the assault you want to be. Why, it almost sounds like a hybrid."
Then I read the last, bold bit and thought "No, it made you choose between being a slayer or a top-notch support instead of being a master of all trades. You have made your decision." |

Maybe not you who wants to be an assault guy in a logi suit, but I'm sure there are others that take logistics seriously and would sacrifice offence in favour of defence.
Shame, because I'll give you the same tired argument too, give dust 10 years and we shall see how much EvE influences Dust. It stands to reason that EvE has to influence Dust in its mechanics, logistics being one of them.

LOL, you have zero clue about EvE logi ships, if you did you would know that logi ships can't carry weapons if all the high slots are filled with rep mods.

I'm not such a tryhard that I run a single nanohive and thats it. I've filled my equipment slots in every single fitting.
My standard CB or "most competitive" fit for those occational hard pub games has been;
- Proto Uplink - Proto Medkit - Proto nanohive
Still more hp than my suit and you actually get more than 1 equipment |

The simple answer is "you can't help anyone if you're dead." So yeah, I'm gonna keep my tanking and all that and sacrifice proto logistics equipment to be able to still fit my things. Because after all, I wouldn't be a good logi if I am bleeding out on the ground...
That's fine. That is your perogatve, and your CHOICE to use the suit that way, and that's what this is about: choice.
By removing a high slot instead, they'd basically be limiting the suit to Logi only. By changing it the way they did, it can still be used as a viable Assault suit OR a Logi suit, but not both (and certainly not as an Assault suit with all proto Logi equipment).
They've left it with the versatility that it can be good at one role or the other, but you need to decide choose which role is your primary focus.
As a REAL Logi, I'm placed in a situation of choice with the PGU changes as well. No longer can I carry the best Uplink, Med Kit, AND Nanohive AT THE SAME TIME. I need to choose (there's that word again) which to be more effective at, by sacrificing effectiveness of something else.
So, what are your choices?
A. Become Assault in a Logi suit and give up some equipment to accomodate your high slots.
B. Go REAL Logi, but you'll still have to decide specifically what "branch" of Logi you want to be most effective at, on any given spawn (Spawn-Logi, Medic, or Supply-Logi). Just up multiple fittings, with different combinations of equipment, for different situations.
This really doesn't seem too complicated or unreasonable to me. |

Oh, sorry, let me clarify... When I said Eve-tards I didn't mean those who stay in Eve and don't care about Dust. I mean those who come into Dust and think they are entitled to being heard in matters of a shooter simply because they've played Eve. Sorry, but to me that sounds like the argument that you should run a music shop, because you know how to whistle!
There is nothing stopping you from running as a GOOD logi right now! When the patch comes there will STILL be nothing stopping you from playing as the logi you want, but there WILL be issues stopping me from playing logi the way I want.
Just because you seem to prefer playing as the sheep at the slaughterhouse, you therefore want me to become the same toothless sheep...
Sorry carebear, but it's idiots like YOU who come from Eve to Dust that is ruining this game... thinking that using tried and tested methods in a shooter is gonna make it like CoD and BF. Giving Dust working game mechanics and dropsuits that have weapons on does NOT make it into CoD, sorry dude... But it WOULD make it into a game that might actually be more fun than frustrating to play.
So please, go back to space... or hell, play the super-logi you seem to love and stand there to soak bullets. I know I'll be wanting to shoot back. |

I only have Caldari Med proto, not assault role specific.
Related fitting skills: Electronics V, Engineering II, Core upgrades IV, Light Wep OP IV, Sidearm OP II.
Highs: 3x Complex shield ext, 1x Complex recharger.
Lows: 1x Complex regulator, 1x basic armor repair, 1x enhanced CPU upgrade.
Light: Duvolle
Sidearm: TT-3 Assault scrambler pistol.
Grenade: M1 Locus, or EXO AV
Equipment, Basic nanohive.
Total of 470 Shield 138 arm, 608 EHP at 455 of 487 CPU 63 of 69 PG.
Now say I want to run a Kinetic catalyze, well there goes the CPU upgrade. Now I must choose what sacrifices to make. For me that means dropping to a Gek, Basic assault scrambler and Basic locus nades (basic AV's won't fit) . Although I keep the same highs and the repper and regulator. This fit is 390 of 390 CPU, 63 of 69 PG.

Wow! This is actuallly a lot better than I thought.
Personally I would lose the enhanced plate in favor of more speed and a basic armor plate. This will give you room for a proto equipment most likely...
You still get:
+ more tank + faster shield regen + faster move speed + faster run speed + quicker strafing + twice the amount of stamina/recharge + its cheaper + sidearm
- slower armor rep - 2 equipment slots - its not as versatile
I'm fairly confident that i could build a better suit suited for combat with todays numbers by using an assault suit, compared to my hybrid fitting mentioned in OP.
My points still stands. And here I thought that the Cal Logi was superior to the assault for combat use, what a load of BS. |

A potential extra 200 shield HP over the assault, with built in reps + 4 lows, no not superior at all.

possibly but
i would also say on your suit keep your basic armour plate, I dont get the benefit of the low slot shield recharger thing giving you almost the same EHP as the above - even more so if you drop my suit example down to a basic plate - and you still get to carry 3 amounts of proto gear in the equipment slot.
personally, as I have said on this topic in other places, CCP doesnt know what it wants it classes to be - the failure of the scout class is a perfect example.

Big difference.
You can still CHOOSE to use suit effectively as EITHER Assault or Logi. You are not LIMITED to one or the other.
Besides, it's all just temporary anyway, until they are able to add the equipment-specific bonuses, so I don't really see why everyone is getting so worked-up over something we all know is not permanent. |

Rogue Saint wrote:Make logi suits like logi ships in EvE, force logi players to actually be logi by removing weapon slots. Give logi suits dedicated slots for rep-tools with appropriate bonuses towards suits/vehicles/installations and reward them properly with WP.
My alt would happily lose the weapon in favour of pure logi plus bonuses and rewards.
In the short term, at a minimum, I see several issues that arise from your suggestion:
1. scale I.e. I assume that logistic support is generally tied into decent sized fleets. As such their defence is maintained by vessels with offensive capabilities. With hundreds or more ships in the fleet you can have a defence in depth when it comes to ensuring the Logi's survival. So the first issue is essentially the fact that battles in eve involve thousands of players where Dust is restricted to 16x16 and it may be a longtime before we get 48x48. Either way far short of an eve battle. As such your ability to defend your Logi is heavily restricted in Dust. It is far easier to bring a Logi in Dust under direct fire than it should be in Eve. Now you can say that Logi's also travel with small groups as well which leads to my next point
2. The environment. You have the ability to travel in eve. Their are quiet areas in eve and you are better able to choose your battles based on your knowledge of the local sector and/or system. For example you are unlikely to jump into a system where you know your current enemy has a substantial ship/player advantage. Please note I am ignoring tactics and strategy here where a small force may be used as a decoy or lure. In dust you have a lobby shooter which is purely PvP on a restricted map so you can not avoid battle at all and the enemy will generally have a similar number of players to you. In dust it is battle or nothing and you are constantly jumping into the unknown. Yes you could constantly leave battles where the enemy has the advantage but this would be very boring.
3. The Spawn. In half of the game modes your spawn is random. We have all spawned in the middle of the reds on the opposite side of the map. Now a solution would be uplinks but how many times have these been overrun or camped. Your ability to stay with your fleet is far greater in Eve then staying with your squad in Dust. As youhave no weapon you can not even take a red with you when you die. You are just a punching bag.
3a. Lucky random spawns. You spawn behind your enemy and they do not know for a few seconds and because it was a spawn there is no way to defend against it. You then proceed to drop remote explosives using your BPO suit and insta blap a bunch of proto suits including the Logi.
4. Staying behind the frontline. This is only possible if your team is in a position to force the pace of play I.e. capable of constantly overrunning the enemy or at least the ability to hold a defensive line. If they can not then you are screwed as there is nowhere you can run that the enemy can not get you unless you leave the battle. Without a weapon your sense of helplessness just becomes worse.
5. Variation and effectiveness. In eve you have fast frigates and powerful battle cruisers from tier 1 to 3. In eve as you move up in ship class and tier it becomes less likely someone from a lower tier and class being able to kill you all things being equal. Not impossible but more difficult then it is in Dust. As an FPS a new player has to have a reasonable chance of killing anything on the field, not a great chance but at least a reasonable one. So in this case you have a militia scout (tier 1 frigate) who either has REs or has a nack for cooking locus nades who has a much better chance of killing a well set up Proto Heavy or Logi ( tier 3 battle cruiser) than the equivalent event in eve. In both cases the Logi will be surrounded by a fleet or squad but in dust you have access to insta kill weapons at a lower level and even then each weapon types DPS is a matter of degree and not scale. You can argue about which suit would be equivalent to what ship but in terms of tank they are at the extremes of what you can do with dropsuits at the moment.
There are other reasons but these will do for now. Dust maps are smaller than eve, your ability to avoid direct fire in dust is lower than in eve, you can not avoid battle in Dust but you can in Eve, your "squad" in Eve can be far larger than is possible in Dust, access to high DPS "insta kill or quick kill" weapons are available at a lower SP level in Dust and can be fitted to very cheap militia fits which can be devastating against even proto fits especially when combined with random spawns.
In conclusion you can not simply take what works in Eve and put it into Dust as they are very different games built for very different markets. |

Your missing the point, I would'nt expect Dust logis to mirror EvE logis, just what their role is. It's not feasible to mirror exactly, for obvious reasons, but some clear distinction between being a logi and an assault should be welcomed. Clearly it won't happen, cuz people like the guy below are scared of losing the pwn suit and want the "one size fits all" approach to their game play.

Sorry carebear, but it's idiots like YOU who come from Eve to Dust that is ruining this game... thinking that using tried and tested methods in a shooter is gonna make it like CoD and BF. Yeah sure I've come from EvE, a game I love and company that has my respect for making Dust. The fact I've been playing Dust since Beta gives me the right to comment, not my 5 years of EvE. Clearly you don't like my suggestion, seems you're the only one in the thread scared of what I'm proposing.
Carebear, yeah right, did you hear that as a buzz word from some EvE player? You probably need to research the context before labelling people. As for the rest of the statement, you are single minded in how you perceive Dust should be played and can't see other options for what logis could be in the future.
To placate you, and maybe make you feel warm an fuzzy again, drop the light weapon and just have a sidearm slot, you can then Core Flaylock (even after the nerf) to your hearts content. |

Yeah right, as a 5 year vet of EvE I can tell you now, all EvE players are worried about is how much Dust will mess up the economy. Sure there are a few that could worry about how planets will affect their game play, but thats about it.

LOL, you have zero clue about EvE logi ships, if you did you would know that logi ships can't carry weapons if all the high slots are filled with rep mods.

Give the logi an insane tank. Sure it will be abused by some who will run explosives or something, but having a true logi is still appealing.

I like to think that the amusement park gamers mentality here is the devolution of this community, those who think that they know best how someone else's game should be build because they play games.
CCP has their own unique vision for New Eden and their games and wether you agree with it or not, it is easier to accept that then complaining they aren't just copying over tested methods from other games (or most logical solutions even). Because of their distinct vision the development does seem to take more time, produces frustating mechanics occasionally and is the source for the beloved one-liners as 'soon (tm)', 'maybe next decade' and 'htfu'.
Just sit back and enjoy the ride, keep your hands and feet inside the vehicle at all times though ;)

Thank you, while I agree with your response on some level, and as I sated in another response, I wouldn't expect a carbon copy of what EvE does to translate to what Dust does. I still believe there is a scope for those that want to be "pure logi". All RPG style games have a healer class that is weak at offence, but is awesome at defence/support, something similar is all I'm suggesting.

Removing a weapon slot from the logi has already been critisised by the community to the point that it's not necessary to do so any more, unless someone comes along with the not-so-brilliant idea to remove weapons or force them to only have a sidearm.
It's just stupid on so many levels to do this.
https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=924501#post924501
There, I have posted my views on what they need to fix on the CaLogi suit. Remove a high slot, that is all that is needed. Don't touch the weapons! I am not afraid of change, I am afraid of any change/hinderance to my ability to shoot at stuff tho.
So no, I am not gonna swap my AR for some silly core flaylocks. Silly to use that on a suit that only has 1 weapon slot anyway.
So we've both made some assumptions that weren't spot on, but let me ask:
Why do you wanna force a logi to play a certain role and penalise those logis who know how to use a gun? |

1. I skilled into a cal logi cause it was obviously the most combat effective of the four logi suits. I initially couldn't stand losing that second equipment slot from my proto assault suit. I am first and foremost a team player, though it might not seem that way when I run around alone like a cowboy in pub games. I come from MAG where everyone carried a medkit, I didn't wanna lose it. In MAG we had a term for it, it was "elite O-holder", somone that can kill and stil push in on objectives, repair and so on.
2. Everyone seems to think that max HP is the only stat one can meassure a suit with, which is moronic. As a Cal logi I do fit a green stamina module and a shield recharger (90CPU!!!), this just to almost have the same stats as assault in regards to stamina and shield recharge. Take those two into the equation and the suit is more or less as good in terms of numbers as an assault suit. The the remaining difference is the faster speed and the ability to carry a sidearm vs the slower single weapon suit with more equipment. Seems pretty OK for me.
3. I am first and foremost a soldier. My job is to kill my enemies and **** their wives. While I do this, I like to support my team aswell. If someone will put in more fancy equipment at the cost of being less combat effective be my guest, in my boock that is called a carebear. 4. Contact nades? WTF? I've used some lately on a LOL lvl 1 scout suit fit, other than that I still keep to my Core Locus nades that is better 99% of the time.
5. I'm not saying that the suit didn't need a change, I made a post some time ago suggesting they removed a high slot, which would mean 87,5 less points of shields on it, which is a major change.
6. I specced into the suit, spending in effect a month of passive and active booster to get the SP, now its changed and I'm not given the choice to respec into something else. If i'd seen the true (the new stats) stats of the suit, I wuld most likely have specced into assault back then. I feel missled, its a bad way of handling from CCPs side. Tryhard in a logi suit
Tryhard makes several threads about how he cant do it all in one suit and its unfair to pick one or the other or sacrifice something on the logi suit to do a hybrid fit
Tryhard consistantly makes his logi suit to be as good if not better than a assault suit
CCP balance suit by making it for logi so generally you have to be support instead of all in one suit but to OP this is carebear that anyone can do where tryhard is king
Tryhard requests respec so he can respec into another FOTM suit after he has worked it out, if no suit exists tryhard will take a break and rage quit, if one does exist expect him to skill into that FOTM suit, when it gets nerfed expect more threads and another respec request
The cycle continues |

You shouldn't be able to run top tier everything, even with full dropsuit upgrades. I run Gallente Logi and even with high dropsuit upgrades, I usually run with a GEK or an Exile AR in my proto Logi fit so I can wear enhanced extenders, complex reppers, and proto equipment. I have a bonus that helps fit the equipment but I will never be able to run everything well. I sacrifice combat potential to be support, even in a full proto fit. I have fits that are more assault oriented, but if I wanted to spend my time focusing on combat, I would have gone assault, the bonuses are more suited for it and the base stats are better. Your Cal Logi suit can still be used as a viable killer, as well as having the option of running good support, but don't ever expect to have one suit be the master of everything. |

I love how many scrubs who have either never set foot in a PC battle or get constantly redlined are acting like they know what they are talking about. In competitive matches their is simply no room for someone on the team to be a pure support logi, none, whats so ever. The logi's of today perform the essential roles of providing uplinks, ammo, and triage nanohives to the team, at the cost of having no sidearm, reduced run/sprint speed, and the lowest amount of stamina in the game. Furthermore after the nerf of the calidari racial bonus (which everyone who played calidari logi expected) their health will be across the board lower than their assault counter parts
In a PC match being able to kill is far more necessary than providing nanohives, so expect those to be what every competitive logi sacrifices. Right now the ONLY equipment slot that is absolutly crucial for logi's to use to provide suppot is having proto uplinks.
Luckily for me, with the build I currently use I will have 2 options, either change my enhanced plate to a basic one, or lower my k-2 nanohive down to a basic. However that is because I have always run a (proto) Uplink, (advanced) nanohive, (basic) remote explosive build, this shows that the players who will be most advesrely affected by these changes are not the killer bee's you all fear, but rather the now even more nuetered health mules everyone wants.
TLDR: in competitive 16 vs 16 matches their is simply no place for pure support logis. |

I sort of made the mistake of making two threads that are too closely related, sorry.
I'll drop this in from the other thread:
So many, replies, I'll try and sum it up:
1. I am very tired of people claiming I chose this suit because "its the best killing machine", I do believe that the cal assault suit is superior to the logi fit, peple put WAY too much emphasis on max tank and forget speed, stamina, shield recharge and sidearm which in sum equals - 99 cpu and two slots to even the diffrences out, and even then the the assault suit will still have better stats on the mentioned "non tank" qualities.
2. I have never run this suit without usng all my 3 equipment slots, I have almost everything but repair tool at proto level.
3. I have never had more than 700 HP on it. (588 shields +112 armor) or (497 shields + 112+65 armor = 671)
- Running more HP than this will make the suit way too slow in terms of shield regen and movement speed, it only works for the more campy players taking their time, I'm not a patient player...
4. For all intents and purposes I have run this suit as a Logi suit carrying uplinks, medkit, scanners, hives, anti vehicle mines and REs. I have not run with a repper since most around m are shield tanked anyway.
5. I do not fear at all for my coming combat effectiveness, a new calculation has shown me that It'll be just as good for combat, I only lose 66 points of shields, while keeping everything else as is. (Not cunting equipment)
So what if I have to swap to a basic medkit instead of proto, it still gets the job done right?
And I will most likely still destroy and generally own whatever players I stomp in games today, not much will change.
So what has got me worked up like this?
The way it was handled. This change will turn me from an actual logi into more of a tryhard logi, it will have the exact opposite effect than intended. And I highly doubt that I'm alone in this...
And its the general principle of spending 6 weeks grinding for something that turns out to be something else a short while after due to a calculator battery failure at CCP, wihout being given the opportunity to make a new "informed choice" based on new data.
I've said it before, I'll say it again, removing a high slot would most likely have done the trick. It reduces max tank by 87.5 HP and even further the difficulity of carrying damage mods. I believe a sort of fix that only affect the combat side and not the logi side of things is the way to go...

Let go the proto nanohive, the ADV is good is enough. Proto Uplinks? Mmmm ok because the spawn reduction time is a very good thing. Proto nanite is very good. Since you'll be most of the time killing guys this is a very good setup for combat logi.
Now the modules....Ditch the PG thingy if you can. Ditch the green stamina thingy and armor plate. Replace everything with. 3 shield regulators. Leave the proto CPU, you'll definitely need it. If you have enough CPU/PG, replace recharger with another shield extender.
If you need more CPU I think you might wanna dumb down your proto equipment to ADV versions. Maybe that core grenade is too much? AUR contact grenades? |

Its the same thing I've said all along.
There are probably a lot of changes between 1.4 - 2.0 that will be made to all of the classes. Its inevitable really.
CCP has a vision for what they want each class to be, and I'm sure that the classes are not meeting the mark at all.
Here's the problem for me. CCP keeps making changes (as they need to) and these changes affect a lot of people and can completely nullify choices that have been made.
It makes making 'meaningful decisions' impossible.
CCP should continue to make these changes, yes, definitely. But SP refund should be a matter of fact, period.
I know it kills immersion/the point of the game. But until we can get to a point where the devs are happy with the game... we need to stop pointing and laughing at people that are adversely affected by these changes.
No one will argue cal logis didn't need a change, but these kinds of changes are going to keep happening.
What if 'pure logi' gallenetes get swapped into side arm only? Should the rest of us just point and laugh at the millions of SP that they put into the suit and light weaponry?
Maybe gall logis needed the change to balance them out vs. scenario x, y, and z. And maybe a lot of people will be fine with the change... but a lot of people wont... and they will be royally ****** out of months of grinding.
Its not right.
Ignoring cal logi changes for a second... messing with people's skills and completely changing their playstyle when they have no means to adapt to the changes other than 'grind 6-10 weeks to catch back up, and buy some aurum gear... cause its a 'free' game after all! lulz!!!" is not a good way to treat your player base.
And to answer the OP:
I would drop down to the GEK probably on one fit and dropped some of the equipment on another fit. In PC the only thing you really need is proto uplinks.
I'm working on a build using Imperial Uplinks, Ishukone Nanos, and basic REs. But it'll be using basic nades, and a GEK for sure.
I'll defo be running assault next respec, these changes aren't over for sure. I can guarantee logis in general will be receiving further nerfs, the 5 hp/s will be the first to go I'm sure. Assaults will probably be seeing some buffs too.
The combat potential of each class will be receiving significant changes I'm sure of it. |

I don't think thats nearly enough, im not sure maybe people are willing to wait for close to a year for CCP to get this all balanced and in place.
They just need to release 'we're going back into beta until 5/14/14" and then allow for regular respecs... I'm thinking like... put a button that lets you do it whenever you want.
This game wasn't ready for full release, and the inevitable changes we'll be seeing over the next few months will be wasting people's SP left and right.
Nobody wants to bother with a game that is constantly wasting your hard earned SP. |

My concern is similar to ZDubs in that at a minimum we are probably looking at November, approx date of next major content expansion, before we see all of the missing basic racial suits and probably a further 2 months of testing by the player base to determine whether the new suits are balanced.
However, based on how long it took to introduce a single additional Amarr racial heavy variant this could easily change to greater than a year before all basic racial suits are introduced let alone tested for balance.
Even ignoring factors like the PS4 appearing at the end of the year it is still too long to have so much SP tied up in a suit you do not want or enjoy. As others have said to those who are "complaining" or asking for "Respecs" if you do not like it leave.
Anybody still playing in 6 months will have probably skilled into a new suit by then but in all probability most who fall into the "unhappy" category will have left rather than worry about the next suit they skill into being "balanced".
If CCP is willing to consider Respecs, a big ask I know, then it is better that they start allowing them sooner rather than later while the consequences are minimal as we are still far away from combining eve and dusts economies and they can state that after this there will be no more Respecs as by this time all the basic stuff will have been introduced and balanced.
They could make a merging of the economies into a major event and publicise it as the last Respec ever but until then allow them to ensure you hold onto a reasonable number of FPS players.

All I read was
" I'm not gunna be able to kill people as easily anymore so instead of removing my proto weapon or running lower end modules & nades like all the rest of the Logi Suits, I'll just remove my logi equipment since I never really was a legitimate logi anyway, QQ"
Yeah, no sympathy here. Realllllly makes me hope you guys don't get a respec. |

DISAGREE. Your suit is fine. Its OP from the start. I bet that the suit would get a little nerf and i wont that bet :) You shouldn't have 615 HP anyways. Your a logy not an assault. 400-500 shields sounds better. |

The simple answer is "you can't help anyone if you're dead." So yeah, I'm gonna keep my tanking and all that and sacrifice proto logistics equipment to be able to still fit my things. Because after all, I wouldn't be a good logi if I am bleeding out on the ground...
you seem to think killing and staying alive are so entwined as to be either inseparable or the same thing. It is not so.
I tank quite well with =/=660hp using a SMG no damage mods no biotics and both shield and armor regen.... but that is my Personal Playstyle. Don't be thinking there's only one way to do it, down that path lies mediocrity :P |

Just a heads up, I'm only going off the OP (a lot of pages to go through...)
With that said my beloved Cal-Logi girlfriend is pretty excited to get her suit to be able to fit her role. She has been trained by me to use the suit as a Logi the moment she got access to the C-1. I told her that the suit is being made OP by players mis-using it & to expect a Nerf. Before she put points into it I advised her to go Minmatar Logi instead, but she wanted to stay true to her love for the Caldari State. Can't wait to see her adapt & overcome, no need for her to HTFU. She's a good Logi (crappy gun-game, her first FPS), but loves being a medic. That is all. Long live Dust514, o7. Eriknaught out. END TRANSMISSION.
side note: she thinks what CCP should've done to balance the suit was make equipment mandatory. Empty equipment slot gives you an INVALID FITTING, thought that was an interesting idea...albeit a little late. |

Ahhh, so much great material to work with here. Eriknaught, what your ladyfriend is doing is what the LOGI suits were implemented for. A whole lot of people have reaaaallly crappy gun game, but still enjoy the game. This created a somewhat viable role for them. These people (your girlfriend included) will have no issue whatsoever with the changes being implemented by CCP. The loudmouths spewing b.s. on the forums, are dbags who have never had any intention of doing "logi stuff" with LOGI suits. They knew what they were doing, and now they're tip-toeing around the truth, and bawling like babes for a respec.

Honestly,
The more I look at the numbers..
What will Cal Logis do after 1.3? Well you have a bunch of skilled players in shield tanked suits with enough CPU and PG to go proto modules and proto weapon with a decent nanohive. and no other dropsuits to run, plus months away from being able to grind anything else...
Their probably just gonna continue to pubstomp IB.
I suspect we're gonna see a bunch of threads about a week after 1.3 drops about how the Cal Logi is still too OP. |
