Well I'm a cal logi player.
I'm not such a tryhard that I run a single nanohive and thats it. I've filled my equipment slots in every single fitting.
My standard CB or "most competitive" fit for those occational hard pub games has been;
- Proto Uplink - Proto Medkit - Proto nanohive
4 extenders and 1 recharger
Duvolle AR Core nades
Proto CPU uppgrade Proto PG uppgrade (Edit: not sure if proto or enh.) Proto green stamina thingy Basic armor plate
This is a combat/support hybrid fitting. Not really a match against a well specced proto assault suit, but not so bad that I can't stay in and fight and do some damage.
Keeping everything the same is not a viable option. I feel that I sort of have to fit at least one shield regulator, just to get the benefit of the new racial bonus, so my armor plate is thereby lost. And together with the racial bonus I lose 65+ 66 shields equals - 131 HP, taking my suit down from 752 HP down to roughly 615 HP. This change I don't have a problem with, although I'm not especially fond of the new racial bonus...
Its the loss of CPU that worries me. I haven't run the numbers, but I highly doubt I can keep the same fitting as mentioned above.
So where do I reduce the tier of my modules to find a fitting that works? I don't really see using 2 CPU upgrades as an alternative.
Do I put on a GEK? - No, I'm not gonna come with a vanilla gek vs assaults running Duvolles with 2 damage mods... Do I get a smaller nade? - No, as a logi I don't have a sidearm and I'll keep the weapons I have... Will I reduce my tank or stamina? No way, not in a million years!
So what is left? Yes its that proto equipment.... I might have to remove it or reduce it down a tier or two.
So in effect; the patch that is supposed to make me more of a Logi and less of an assault player, will perhaps have the exact opposite effect, not a smart move IMO. |

Even with the CPU nerf you all still have more versatility than Assault. Wow someone who is actually smart? +1 for knowing more than one suit
Fair enough, someone write me up a proto assault setup.
Edit: give me a tanked cal assault fit, I'd really like to know.... |

Edit: give me a tanked cal assault fit, I'd really like to know.... if I max out PG CPU etc. The following is a possible fitting - tanking - caldari assault. Everyone can now tell me I am doing it wrong.... 480hp shield 242 armour 3 complex extenders 1 complex recharger enhanced armour plate complex CPU upgrade basic armour repairer Duvolle Ishukone smg Core locus pick one of the following: level 4 nanohive level 1 remote level 1 drop link drop down to an M1 to fit level 4 droplink I could drop the Ishukone down but I picked assault cause of the sidearm.
Wow! This is actuallly a lot better than I thought.
Personally I would lose the enhanced plate in favor of more speed and a basic armor plate. This will give you room for a proto equipment most likely...
You still get:
+ more tank + faster shield regen + faster move speed + faster run speed + quicker strafing + twice the amount of stamina/recharge + its cheaper + sidearm
- slower armor rep - 2 equipment slots - its not as versatile
I'm fairly confident that i could build a better suit suited for combat with todays numbers by using an assault suit, compared to my hybrid fitting mentioned in OP.
My points still stands. And here I thought that the Cal Logi was superior to the assault for combat use, what a load of BS. |

Takahiro Kashuken wrote:OP skilled into Cal logi because lol 5/4 slots layout and obv CPU/PG improvements over the assault suit which made it better in everyway while you get equip slots for nanohives and other things
Now he cant do both and QQ about it saying his role is broken which was being an assault tryhard in a logi suit
He stills trys to be an assault tryhard in a logi suit and how do we know this because he wont reduce his primary weapon, or get rid of lolcontact nades but he will get rid of the stuff in the equipment slots
1. I skilled into a cal logi cause it was obviously the most combat effective of the four logi suits. I initially couldn't stand losing that second equipment slot from my proto assault suit. I am first and foremost a team player, though it might not seem that way when I run around alone like a cowboy in pub games. I come from MAG where everyone carried a medkit, I didn't wanna lose it. In MAG we had a term for it, it was "elite O-holder", somone that can kill and stil push in on objectives, repair and so on.
2. Everyone seems to think that max HP is the only stat one can meassure a suit with, which is moronic. As a Cal logi I do fit a green stamina module and a shield recharger (90CPU!!!), this just to almost have the same stats as assault in regards to stamina and shield recharge. Take those two into the equation and the suit is more or less as good in terms of numbers as an assault suit. The the remaining difference is the faster speed and the ability to carry a sidearm vs the slower single weapon suit with more equipment. Seems pretty OK for me.
3. I am first and foremost a soldier. My job is to kill my enemies and **** their wives. While I do this, I like to support my team aswell. If someone will put in more fancy equipment at the cost of being less combat effective be my guest, in my boock that is called a carebear. Someone that does a job "supporting" his team, a job that requires no skill that any monkey can do, is someone I don't want on my team. Gungame is always king.
4. Contact nades? WTF? I've used some lately on a LOL lvl 1 scout suit fit, other than that I still keep to my Core Locus nades that is better 99% of the time.
5. I'm not saying that the suit didn't need a change, I made a post some time ago suggesting they removed a high slot, which would mean 87,5 less points of shields on it, which is a major change.
6. I specced into the suit, spending in effect a month of passive and active booster to get the SP, now its changed and I'm not given the choice to respec into something else. If i'd seen the true (the new stats) stats of the suit, I wuld most likely have specced into assault back then. I feel missled, its a bad way of handling from CCPs side. They make a misstake, and I have to pay for it, its moronic. |

I sort of made the mistake of making two threads that are too closely related, sorry.
I'll drop this in from the other thread:
So many, replies, I'll try and sum it up:
1. I am very tired of people claiming I chose this suit because "its the best killing machine", I do believe that the cal assault suit is superior to the logi fit, peple put WAY too much emphasis on max tank and forget speed, stamina, shield recharge and sidearm which in sum equals - 99 cpu and two slots to even the diffrences out, and even then the the assault suit will still have better stats on the mentioned "non tank" qualities.
2. I have never run this suit without usng all my 3 equipment slots, I have almost everything but repair tool at proto level.
3. I have never had more than 700 HP on it. (588 shields +112 armor) or (497 shields + 112+65 armor = 671)
- Running more HP than this will make the suit way too slow in terms of shield regen and movement speed, it only works for the more campy players taking their time, I'm not a patient player...
4. For all intents and purposes I have run this suit as a Logi suit carrying uplinks, medkit, scanners, hives, anti vehicle mines and REs. I have not run with a repper since most around m are shield tanked anyway.
5. I do not fear at all for my coming combat effectiveness, a new calculation has shown me that It'll be just as good for combat, I only lose 66 points of shields, while keeping everything else as is. (Not cunting equipment)
So what if I have to swap to a basic medkit instead of proto, it still gets the job done right?
And I will most likely still destroy and generally own whatever players I stomp in games today, not much will change.
So what has got me worked up like this?
The way it was handled. This change will turn me from an actual logi into more of a tryhard logi, it will have the exact opposite effect than intended. And I highly doubt that I'm alone in this...
And its the general principle of spending 6 weeks grinding for something that turns out to be something else a short while after due to a calculator battery failure at CCP, wihout being given the opportunity to make a new "informed choice" based on new data.
I've said it before, I'll say it again, removing a high slot would most likely have done the trick. It reduces max tank by 87.5 HP and even further the difficulity of carrying damage mods. I believe a sort of fix that only affect the combat side and not the logi side of things is the way to go...
