And with permission, and credit given, I'd like to use some of your opinions found here in the reviews you guys write up. I watched Nura as well. Enjoyed it fairly well. I have audacity if you want to use audio for my opinion as well. Just tell me what aspect you're looking for an opinion on. The show teeters around development through It's MC's experience, no one else literally grows as a character, and he barely does. "Growth" for everyone else is accepting there fate and coming to terms with it, even though they're hundreds of years older then the kid telling them what to do. The setting also seems unfleshed, Is he the King of Yokai or not? They keep saying he's the lord of all Yokai, but then they talk about Yokai politics and whose on there side and not - that's not how you 'rule' others. So are they or were they ever unified by the Nura, and if so, why does Nura only concentrate on one area when Japan's actually quite large. There's a lot to notice here, there's also a plot hole concerning the kids and there discovery of Yokai - they learned, at a young age, while on a bus getting attacked by Yokai, of there existence. But seems to of forgotten it..... Basically, I want criticism of the shows setting, plot, and characters.
The show goes back and forth a lot. When they did their flashback to his father/grandfather, I felt really disconnected until I realized what had happened. The characters looked damn near the same, and his entourage didn't help at all.
His grandfather was considered King because he was the Yokai in control of the capital IIRC, more of a title than an actual power position. The show is also adapted from a Manga I believe, and more than a few things got glossed over.

There's a season 2?! How'd I miss that? I'll give it a go. Currently halfway through Akame ga Kill...and I'm not sure if I'm going to bother with the rest. Knew I was in trouble when they started killing off characters and I didn't feel anything...show seems entirely plot-driven with paper-thin characters that don't interest me.
I did start liking some of them, like the gay guy and pinky. I dropped the show in the last 2 episodes because it was becoming predictable, i'll try again when the Dub finishes coming out. Otherwise Akame Ga Kill ****** with me lol I quite Akame ga Kill after *SPOILER ALERT* Sheele died. I didn't care, and realized that I wouldn't care when the rest of them died. I predicted from episode one that they'd all die anyway, but it started airing on TV, and I decided why not give it another go? Dub is pretty good on it anyway.

He didn't even watch the show, obviously, because some of his points are not only WRONG, but they don't make SENSE lololol
*Sorry, was just browsing the internets opinion of this show, and it's really bad. My review will be contradicting a lot of what others are saying about this show.* |

Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru. Zoku (My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU Too!)
9/10
Drama/School Life/Romance/Harem/Comedy
Plot: Hachiman, Yukino and Yui struggle to keep the Service Club going as their relationships with their friends--and each other--are put through the wringer of high school love.
Theme: Nothing lasts forever/is your happiness more important than the happiness of those you care about?
Wow. This season b*tch-slapped me right across the face as it kicked all of my complaints from the first season to the curb. Too! is all about character development; Hachiman finds himself (uncomfortably) becoming the center of competing affections from no fewer than two (and possibly as many as six) girls, and by the end of the 13th episode the sense of dread is palpable. Someone--and likely several more--is going to end up with a broken heart when the dust finally settles. Comedy takes a backseat this season if favor of the drama surrounding high school life and romance, and one thing becomes painfully clear over the course of the season: when it comes to love, there're far more losers than winners. Hachiman isn't the only one facing trouble, however, as Hayama finds himself in a similar situation of trying to find a way to keep everyone happy, even at the expense of his own happiness (should also note how the show plays up the mystery of who he likes by mentioning that the girl in question has an initial of "Y," which leaves no less than four possibilities.)
Hachiman remains the brains of the show, Yui the heart and Yukino the soul, while Shizuka continues as the driving force that constantly pushes everyone forward; it is Shizuka that constantly challenges Hachiman to face reality and decide what, exactly, the Service Club means to him, while at the same time using he and Yui to break Yukino out of her shell. Iroha emerges as a wonderful addition to the cast and her blossoming relationship with Hachiman adds a welcome amount of believable tension to the show. At the same time, their relationship demonstrates just what it is that's drawing people towards him (and not just the girls.) Haruno remains a wonderfully loathsome troublemaker that's constantly stirring the pot.
Animation remains strong with plenty of cute characters. Music is decent stuff but I'm getting tired of Hachiman's weird voice.
Verdict: Perhaps the biggest improvement from one season to the next of any show that I've seen. Makes suffering through the first season totally worth it.
Season 1 -- 5/10 Season 2 -- 9/10 Series -- 7/10

Also watched the first two episodes of Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry and two things are clear: 1. This show is likely going to end up as disappointing (and shallow) as Isuca, and 2. The opening theme music may be the worst thing I've ever heard. Ever.
And for you ecchi fans, be sure to keep an eye on fapservice (site is obviously NSFW) as it keeps you up-to-date on all things fanservice amongst the new shows, in addition to all of the goodies you can expect to see on the uncensored BluRay releases each month.

You should of mentioned how drastically the animation and art actually improves season 2 - it doesn't even really look like the same company behind it. When Spice and Wolf switched hands - you could hardly tell, it looked exactly the same, but this show upgrades dramatically xD

Everything Dies, you have to watch Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid. That's how you do ecchi. I'm sorta hoping it's going to be Queen's Blade, but with more yuri, and not bad. Whoops, looks like I just gave away my opinion on Queen's Blade.
In other new, I started Strawberry Panic! Yaaaay! Four episodes in, and I'm bored..... Save me? Actually, I'm only bored by the fourth episode that focused on a random side character. I hope the plot starts moving forward soon.

If you want a show just like it, Yuri themed and girls only, all beautiful, then try that Maria School show, forgot it's name, I'll look it up later, but it's 3 seasons, slow, and quite enjoyable. |

Caught the first two episodes before I picked up my girls. May have trouble with this show as I hate it when the male MC is a kid (can't watch Kanokon for the same reason.)
Technically, I only made it about halfway through episode 2 before dozing off...I'd been up 26 hours straight, after all.

Technically, I only made it about halfway through episode 2 before dozing off...I'd been up 26 hours straight, after all. it's actually his growth I want your commentary mostly on, he's a strange character.
He is a kid, yes, but he also is something more. After a certain point of the show, he stops seeming like a kid completely, and starts becoming a lot more like his Yokai form.
But it's an aspect of the show not 1 review out of 20 even touched upon, calling him lame, boring, and unmotivated. All completely untrue.
After the first arc ends, he starts dressing like a bad-ass even as a human, wearing Kimino's when all his friends wear normal clothes, and though kind still, has way more sense of "I could just kill you" to him.
But, again, every review on this show thus far is either blinded by the first few episodes lack of action, or by how unremarkable the MC is at the start. |

next step: more powerful editor. Just discovered a bunch of advanced tools on iMovies. :O :O :O
and one tool is allowing multiple videos to play together :O :O
Now that I have this down, I need to format gif toons to play on the video. Creating these characters and design then putting them into MP4 format....
... this might take a long time, but it seems worth a shot. I wanted the characters to interact with the video a bit, so this is a wonderful discovery that'll lead to much fun I hope :) |

last discovery brought about the green screen discovery.
My videos are about to get a lot more complicated, now i need to figure out how to cut specific parts of clips, like single out a character, remove him from the clip, and put him in a different clip.
Example: Take Momo out of episide 2 in bed, and put her in the bed with the snake of the monster girl, waking up next to her with the sexy look in her eyes, staring right at the snake.
but after hours of digging i've yet to find out how. |

*Intro* Welcome to another SoTa PoP Review! ItGÇÖs late October right now, and HolloweenGÇÖs around the corner. A time where dreams meet reality, and our scariest stories are given life once again; reminding us of all the spooks that once went bump in the night. But if what they never left, only organized and blended in?
Meet Nura: Rise of the Yokai. A coming of age story about Rikuo Nura, third heir to the powerful Nura Clan, that controls 72 clans of 10,000+ demons. HeGÇÖs a normal boy with normal dreams, but his grandfather, Supreme Commander of the Yokai, wants him to succeed him sooner, rather then later. HeGÇÖs getting old, with retirement around the corner, itGÇÖs time Rikuo came to terms with his 1/4 yokai blood, and help the clan move forward.
But what is forward to a clan of Yokai in the modern era?
ThatGÇÖs the question our protagonist faces.
Or would of been had the show taken itself seriously. Instead, we have a reluctant hero, whose only goal in life seems to protect his friends who have about as much depth in character as a horse shoe. Luckily, the Yokai, who comprise of much more of the cast, are all interesting and fun, to counter-part the annoying humans.
from episode 1 - 3, the show sets up the MCGÇÖs personality, reasoning, and the foundation of reasoning that drives the show forward.
GǪ or not. The first few episodes leave you confused who the MC even is and if the plot setting told us everything, but iGÇÖll get to the setting later, letGÇÖs look at the MC. HeGÇÖs kinda a prick to his fellow yokai, who are only looking out for the MCGÇÖs well being, and each others. Often coming in the nick of time, or helping him our of a situation, or just doing nothing wrong at all, and heGÇÖll get mad at them, for existing and being there. While treating his completely useless, annoying, 1 dimensional friends like glass that may break if they found out who he is.
And to drive the confusion further down a trail of huh, Rikuo, at GÇÿnightGÇÖ and I put emphasis on this as it seems completely contrived and not an honest part of the story, turns into a Yokai. Who, in all honesty, is a completely different person all together.
from mannerism, to looks, to ideals, they are, in every sense of the idea, two different characters. And this wouldnGÇÖt of been a problem, had they fleshed out the differences more and why. As it stands, I can only guess his Yokai blood has a mind of itGÇÖs own. But, that doesnGÇÖt explain why his Yokai form is so adamantly on the boys side concerning morales. Thus, weGÇÖre forced to assume they really are the same person. If theyGÇÖd of just taken a moment to explain it, it would of gone over a lot better. Instead, we get, from the MCGÇÖs own mouth, a bunch of mabyes *episode 5 clip*
But itGÇÖs not all bad with him, many reviewers comment on him calling him bland, uninteresting, underdeveloped, and dull, but thatGÇÖs not true. For an MC, at the start, he is pretty underwhelming, and like stated earlier, confusing, but as time goes by, he gains confidence, and becomes less of a prick to his fellow yokai, treating them more like brothers rather then annoying family members. He slowly comes to terms with his Yokai self, and even in his human form, he begins showing more confidence in himself. |

This is just what I have now, the AZ script as well has changed quite a bit, but it's on back burner with Devil is a Part Timer.
6 days left to finish this for the contest. Mmm, i sound too negative, need to re-work this. And this is only 1/4 of the review, lol |

This is just what I have now, the AZ script as well has changed quite a bit, but it's on back burner with Devil is a Part Timer.
6 days left to finish this for the contest. Mmm, i sound too negative, need to re-work this. And this is only 1/4 of the review, lol
This...does not make me want to finish the show.
Actually started re-watching Akane-Iro ni Somaru Saka last night as the uncensored version is available on Anilinkz (but only as Flash, so I can't watch it on my PS4.) Funnier than I remember...
Mike Patton is the greatest singer in music. Proof

Luckily, the Yokai, who comprise of much more of the cast, are all interesting and fun, to counter-part the annoying humans.
from episode 1 - 3, the show sets up the MCGÇÖs personality, reasoning, and the foundation of logic and motivations that drives the show forward.
For an MC, at the start, he is pretty underwhelming, and like stated earlier, confusing, but as time goes by, he gains confidence, and becomes less of a prick to his fellow yokai, treating them more like brothers rather then annoying family members. and yes, definitely need to re-work this script top from bottom. |

starting to realize my issue with script writing is my lack of brain storming and organizing. I use the scripts themselves as brain storming, and just re-do them over, and over, and over, lol. |

Going to give it two or three more episodes to see if it draws me into the story. Otherwise, it's high time I went back and re-watched Motto To Love-Ru.

But what is forward to a clan of Yokai in the modern era?
ThatGÇÖs the question our protagonist faces as he discovers what it means to be a Yokai coexisting with humans.
Driven by a desire to protect his friends, and the Yokai, Rikuo Nura faces challenge both from within, and without, as he tries to balance his life, and his duties as a Yokai Heir.
The showGÇÖs pacing in this regard is smooth as silk, as the human casts get pushed into going on Yokai adventures over and over again, instigating events that tie our casts together, keeping the pacing all in one place.
This letGÇÖs the show naturally flow from Yokai to Human, allowing the plot to settle in-between the two, giving us a clearer picture of events.
With everything in place, the show is able to flesh out relationships, subtly hint at devolopements, and continue the plot - all in one scene. This creates a fluent story telling, brought up further by the very interesting Yokai cast, who make up 3/4 the shows characters.
And the Yokai are beautiful. Their designs range from flowery to adorable to creepy, but theyGÇÖre all incredibly well detailed, especially considering how flat the human designs are, with small eyes and unattractive features.
The exception is the romantic interest, Kana. Unlike the rest of the human cast, her design obviously had more thought put into it, probably to contrast her from the other humans and lift her value in the show. As the show progresses, theyGÇÖll single her out, being interested in our MC in his yokai form, without knowing who he really is, and slowly integrate her into the Yokai side, building upon her relationship with the MC.
ItGÇÖs incredibly interesting, especially the build ups. ThereGÇÖs several of them, from a love triangle between a human, a half yokai, and a yokai, to the political struggle and upheavels the Nura clan faces - to outside Yokai forces bringing in forces and challenging the Nura. The show has quite a bit going for it.
But where it stumbles is the Shojo aspect of itself, though it does a great job developing the characters whose life will be in jeopardy when the time comes, it doesnGÇÖt have much choreography to back it. Creating very short and lackluster battle scenes. This is uncharacteristic of Shojo shows, and will lead to many people with preconvieved notions to drop the show.
But if you enjoyed Inuyasha, youGÇÖre going to love this show. They have a lot in common, both shows half a half demon as MC whose son of some great ruling Yokai, they both prefer to deal with dramatics rather then action, building a plot and characters rather then sprinkling your screen with sparkles and lights.
And they both have an amazing soundtrack. NuraGÇÖs soundtrack does itGÇÖs job well in setting the mood, often playing deep orchestra pieces, fitting for Yokai. The OPGÇÖs are great, especially the second one. IGÇÖm a big fan of japanese rap, especially after watching Air Gears.
And though the music not be THAT good *Air Gears is just, wow* it is good in itGÇÖs own right, deserving of attention. |
