Toradora! (Tiger X Dragon)
Original score -- 9/10 Updated score -- 10/10
After a second viewing, I can say without a doubt that this is one of the best shows I've seen. Ryuuji and Taiga's love story is simply awesome; heartwarming, heartbreaking, funny, sad, moving...you name it. It's truly amazing that, right from the first episode, you know the two will pair up by the end of the story...and yet the show constantly throws twists and turns at the viewer to keep a lingering sense of doubt beneath the surface.
What really stands out are the numerous supporting characters; in most other shows, a character such as Ami would have been thrown in as a one-dimensional romantic rival. In Toradora, however, she becomes a key component of the show through her actions while at the same time developing on her own as a person; she's still my favorite character after watching the show again. I initially was put off by Minori's character the first time around, but I really liked her this time. Much like Ami, she is of a duplicitous nature--the character she projects to everyone else and the tragic character she truly is. She sacrifices more than any other character in the show and honestly receives reward for doing so. If Ryuuji and Taiga represent the joy that comes with falling in love, Minori represents the heartache that comes with being passed over. It's in the final four episodes or so that her character is finally laid bare and you can't help but sympathize with her.
I can't think of a single show that does a better job of portraying the importance of love and family...and how truly na+»ve young people are when it comes to such matters. If you haven't seen this show, do so now. If you already have...then go and watch it again. You heard him folks - go watch it again! The Dub to Toradora is magnificently done, and located on Crunchyroll - so what'r'ya'waiting'for?! |

Amigos I came here to ask for an honest opinion. I watched the first two episodes of Naruto. It's ok but really don't want to watch the rest if it's going to be a slow story. So my question is Is it worth it to finish it?

The story itself it quite good, even if it does fart on itself with constant fillers.
If you don't know anything about it - give it a shot, it's not bad.
But there's much better shows out there. |

Check back to this post later.
Naruto is notorious for its huge filler. Fans compiled a way to watch the show that contains all episodes pivitol to the storyline, excluding all stupid filler.
I have the list on my home computer, I was actually considering watching it as well.

I shared the videos on FB - it's getting shared around quite a bit.
That's some massive levels of moe. Order is a Rabbit season 1 was lackluster for the most part, relying 100% on moe to enjoy characters, accept the purple hair one, who shows she has more sides to her, a lot more.
Everyone else is pretty flat, development is non-existant, growth is rare and is used to make the girls uncomfortable to get moe shots.
and the designs, though ADORABLE, look like they all still have there baby fat on them.

I have audacity if you want to use audio for my opinion as well. Just tell me what aspect you're looking for an opinion on. The show teeters around development through It's MC's experience, no one else literally grows as a character, and he barely does. "Growth" for everyone else is accepting there fate and coming to terms with it, even though they're hundreds of years older then the kid telling them what to do.
The setting also seems unfleshed, Is he the King of Yokai or not? They keep saying he's the lord of all Yokai, but then they talk about Yokai politics and whose on there side and not - that's not how you 'rule' others. So are they or were they ever unified by the Nura, and if so, why does Nura only concentrate on one area when Japan's actually quite large.
There's a lot to notice here, there's also a plot hole concerning the kids and there discovery of Yokai - they learned, while on a bus getting attacked by Yokai, of there existence. But seems to of forgotten it.....
Basically, I want criticism of the shows setting, plot, and characters. |

BAEAF;IEJAOF *Explodes* That introduction I've honestly considered turning into the real deal, and it's was through thoughts on how to use that to improve introduction and set ups that I came up with a new character.
The intro starts as i do now "Ta-da-da-da! Then the character rolls up, and begins the introduction. I'm hoping this creates a stronger like between me and viewers, or at least viewers to the show. As it stands the show is too impersonal, sounding and playing off more like a World War 2 history film.
And through him I can also emulate face palming, frustrating, anger, sadness, regret, happiness, or amazement.
My main focus this past week is how to bring life to the show rather then just sounding like a happy guy doing a review. |

Other things become possible too, but mainly this creates an identity while allowing me complete freedom to experiment and explore. |

5/10
School/Romance/Comedy
Plot: Hachiman is a bitter antisocial high school student with no friends and "dead" eyes; he spends his days brooding over society's shortcomings an avoid most any and all conversation with other people. After getting into trouble at school yet again, Hachiman is forced by his teacher to join the Service Club--a club dedicated to helping others out with their problems--that consists of one other member, the beautiful and intelligent Yukino...who happens to have a personality that's as caustic as Hachiman's. Can the two overcome their mutual dislike long enough to actually help others? And can they help themselves?
Theme: No man is an island unto himself.
*Sigh* A show that starts off promising but ultimately goes nowhere. Hachiman is an interesting MC given his nihilistic outlook on life (and youth in particular) and is, in many ways, someone that I can personally relate to. Yukino is great as the "Ice-cold Beauty" and would likely be among the great tsundere characters in anime...if she ever moved past the "tsund-" phase, that is. Instead, she, Hachiman and Yui (the eventual third member of the club) are generally stuck in a holding pattern over the course of the show. It's frustrating to watch as the characters come together and begin to learn about each other (and themselves) and start to grow...only to revert back pretty much to their starting personalities by the end of the show.
The best character, in my opinion, is Shizuka. She's is Hachiman's teacher and acts as advisor to the Service Club. Though saddled with the stereotypical trope of "young and single and desperately searching for a husband despite being so incredibly gorgeous" she is, in many ways, the heart of the show; she guides things generally from behind the scenes but is willing to step in and give the others a push if they're struggling. She is genuinely concerned for Hachiman's future and is trying her best to have him emerge from the shell he's put up around himself, going so far as to tell Hachiman that hurting himself to help others can be heartbreaking to those watching him. The show likes to flirt with the idea of Shizuka having a romantic interest in Hachiman but never commits to it.
In fact, the show doesn't really commit to anything. It just sort of...ends. There's no sense of closure, and that's a direct result of the show's inability to flesh out the characters enough for the viewer to draw conclusions from. Hell, it's a very misleading title as there's very little romance and much of the comedy falls flat.
Animation is solid with plenty of attractive characters (Yukino and Shizuka are particularly beautiful) and a running gag is how pretty Saika is...despite being an actual boy and not a cross-dressing girl. Music is largely forgettable. No real ecchi humor and no nudity.
Verdict: Pass. I can see why you don't like the show. The heart of the show isn't the teacher, or Hachiman as you may of guessed, but that orange hair girl. She's the symbol of everyone else's growth, the thing they lack, she has it, wants to share it, but doesn't understand what she has to offer and thus handles things insecurely compared to the confident yet no right answer MC's.
And through this that the show shines like a dull bulb, admittedly. But you're forgetting the rest of the cast that turns that dull bulb into a florescent beauty.
From the 2 blonde male and female side characters, who are honestly more built to be MC's then the actual MC's, to the gay hentai loving girl, to the student council president, each of them are very well devoloped. In the beginning of season 2, when the perv girl was on the roof and explained why she can't hook up with anyone my heart fluttered. That's a such a REAL reason to not wanting to fall in love, "I'm broken." Gah. When the Blonde guy trys to show others how evil he can be through his kindness but no one understands - good stuff. When the student council president starts unconsciously handing her bag to Hachiman before meetings, more good stuff. Tiny, simple moments that turn these character from one dimensional into very real people is what distinguishes this show from all the rest.
Season 1 'feel's like anime compared to the very real atmosphere of season 2, these people are dealing with issues that make or break there personality, it shouldn't be light hearted, this show was designed for a deep inside view of a guy who thinks himself broken and torn a part, and how he's not the only one, and you don't have to be alone in the pain. And that's a beautiful message.
The only other show that came close to creating such unique, real people, was Toradora. Actually, just Ami from Toradora, without her Toradora would of been very anime feeling. She brought that show up to mature levels. SNAFU does this through there entire cast. |

It'll be great once I get it going - characters will show up, say there piece, argue there points to one another, it'll be a full blown show.
So when I do use your material, your character will be explaining it, but my character, or Everything Dies character, may jump in to give input or troll. Everything Dies seems to like Ecchi, so whenever you get to eachi parts of your commentary or review, he may pop up. I love romance, so similarly, I may pop up on those topic in the review - or we may all pop up and just go at it lol
Still just experimenting with ideas, and I've never even picked up a pencil or pen in 10 years, I can't draw for crap, but considering the sheer amount of models I'd need, it's something I'll definitely have to do myself if I want to afford it.
And as for the opinions thing - by it I mean that I sometimes wonder if I misunderstood something about a character or motivation, remember one of you mention it, then cross reference what we experienced. I actually go through review after review for the script so I can critique not only the show - but why a show is being received the way it is, and how you can improve your experience, and troll them a bit to create a sense of confidence for the show. |

I'm not really much for ecchi or harems. There is one exception though: Yuri. I am a yuri fanatic. If I'm promised yuri I'll watch it, no matter the premise. It's why I sat through both Yurikuma Arashi, and Kampfer.
Officially recognized for advancing the science of getting bent.

And it's not that you'd review a show that's ecchi, just that in any show ecchi eventually rears it's head, and in that moment Everything Dies would jump in, may even take over to flesh things out you're not interested in, then bow out, or you can kill him off stage, or w/e I decide to do with this xD |

There's a season 2?! How'd I miss that? I'll give it a go. Currently halfway through Akame ga Kill...and I'm not sure if I'm going to bother with the rest. Knew I was in trouble when they started killing off characters and I didn't feel anything...show seems entirely plot-driven with paper-thin characters that don't interest me.

I dropped the show in the last 2 episodes because it was becoming predictable, i'll try again when the Dub finishes coming out. Otherwise Akame Ga Kill ****** with me lol |

Last night I was in a PS4 group with Jade, all we did was just started talking casual anime, which lead to an Aldnoah discussion.
And I wish I could of recorded it, we came up with so many problems and hilarious parts of the show. Like how Water ends up being the Aldnoah weakness, because almost every single time Water is the reason they beat there enemy, lol. That kind of trolling of shows is exactly what I'm looking for, it it just doesn't naturally happen flowing from a keyboard.
We really should hook up some time and talk anime xD I need to do a Nura: Rise of the Yokai Review in 1 weeks time |
