Lol evetards running scared because they are afraid of fps players.
Quickgloves you and your EV group have seemed to have struck a nerve and are clearly the biggest threat to their life in New Eden at the moment. Wonder how they are going to handle the influx of clans from some of the major games.
One thing I have to say though I have never been so keen for a release of a game and to see exactly how much ccp let the 2 sides interfere with each others plans.
It is a day I really look forward to.
On a side note I love all this drama too, it might just get my girlfriend behind this game slightly more. At the moment she hates anything Dust related. |

In the immortal words of Rodney King, "Can't we all just get along?".. :)
Seriously though... I think all some of EVE pilots/corp CEOs are saying is that the rules for how FPS players band together and dominate the battlefield are changing with DUST. Even an alliance like EV (which btw will fit very nicely into EVE and DUST for better or for worse), and the way EV leadership conducts business in other FPS will need some tweaking to be successful in DUST and really will need a much larger EVE presence to wield its influence into this universe in the same way it has in others.
EV would do well for itself not to trivialize the importance of some of the EVE super alliances and what their influence will be over certain areas of space and the areas that will be fought over there. I'm sure EV has to have already some pilots in EVE and maybe even members in those same super alliances. That is a great first and major step. But for EV corporations that are DUST only (and as far as I am aware, right now that is STB only), without some diplomatic participation in EVE politics, it will be very difficult to have the type of influence it sounds like EV wants. At a minimum EV (STB) would need some diplomatic / business arrangements with EVE corps outside of just taking contracts for ISK in order to expand its influence and stay long term successful. Think Industrial only EVE corps to supply cheap weapons in exchange for protection instead of straight up merc contracts for example.
For the most part I think this thread is more about providing a set scenarios that could play out and at the same time maybe educating the non-EVE DUST players on what some of the things are that keep the EVE Universe alive for all these years. If EV as an entity are not an official alliance in EVE or DUST, but only are a alliance of gamers across all games, then the effects of DUST are minimized at that level. But think the UN here... they speak loudly but carry very small sticks...(and half the time no one listens to it anyway)...

Star trek lol.

I know its a beta. I have 6 mil isk, 2 mil sp and all this by lonewolfing in 3 days of spurts of playing. This is the easiest game I have played as of late.
Screw goonswarm and their budget swarming techniques. War has shown time and time again its not always the numbers that win.
They have never ruined 1 day of my fps gaming and I don't think they going to start now.

I have no doubts they are extremely good at eve. They have been playing it for ages. I will even say I respect them and if I could make them a single entity I would even let them take john edwards title this year as universes biggest douche. I fear he has had it for several years now and is showing no signs of stopping his terror title run.
I have nothing invested in eve and never will. They are going to have to come to our world if they truly want to ruin my day.
What is going to be funny is 12 adults getting home from work having a few beers and talking **** over a mic while ruining a nerds month worth of preparation because they forgot half of this game is FPS.
If you don't mind me asking quickgloves, how long have you been playing eve for? When I spoke to you over the mic you sounded like a hardcore ps3 gamer. |

Stop talking big. It's childish.
Talking about the goons as if they are all "spaceship nerds" who only play EVE. These people play a lot of games, and while some suck at EVE, there are plenty around to play FPS. Their forum, something awful, has a **** load of people who would love to play EVE if they could, but suck at it. They are going to join a goon DUST corp. "166,224 users total." That's SA. You think they can't get 100 people together to kick your ass, even if they didn't have goonswarm in game backing them up? Goons in EVE or not, there will be a goon presence in DUST, and that's only one group. There are plenty of other people who are ready to rock and roll. TEST and subdreddit, as another example.
People talking big about 3 mil. Ha. In eve, if you have 3 mil ISK you are poor. So poor. The second smallest T1 ships in the game go for around 5-10 mil. I make 30 mil an hour in EVE. And I am slow at earning money. Anyone with EVE corps behind them will be able to ignore personal costs for the most part, I imagine. You just buy what you need, expense be damned.
I fly in EVE, but that does not mean I can't manage in FPS games. I used to play CS competitively, and still play a lot of FPS games, on PC. Not a lot on console, because dominating some kids at CoD got old, fast, when there was a skilled mature crowd playing on PC. Not saying I could beat console pro's, but hey, I'm not perfect. You make the assumption that all people in EVE can't play FPS games, or that you are somehow "better". That's hilarious.
And "12 adults getting home from work having a few beers and talking **** over a mic while ruining a nerds month worth of preparation because they forgot half of this game is FPS." is forgetting that there are mostly adults playing EVE too. Adults who are far less cocky and sure of themselves. I'm not saying that I am going to be the one to kill you on the battlefield. You might be better than me, but you will NOT be better than the people that the CFC and HBC bring to the table. You can probably kill SoCo though. |

Lol this myth again. The goonswarm are so hardcore and good at FPS.
You will never hear anything about them except in crap space voyages they have slung together on a server that has too little people to group together to counter their puck swarm. Yet I promise they have got an army of the best FPS PS3 players the world has seen.
Maybe in your world. Its small. I can promise you the best FPS clans are not here yet. Goonswarm are no threat in any FPS. Don't just talk rubbish now? Back yourself up with names on any of those 3 games top 1000 that are your goonswarm gods.
Where are your goonswarm FPS gods? Hiding out in other FPS'ers being very quiet because they can't do **** without their numbers?
1 on 1 they are the biggest noobs the world has known. Where ******** and rejected gamers go.
I ask again where are the goonswarm FPS gods? Nowhere! Just more cricket noise and more talk of them hiding away.
MW3 is nearly done. Goonswarm must be waiting for the right time. Talk of BF4 yet no goonswarm. Lol even that puke game crysis 2 multiplayer where you could make yourself invisible...no goonswarm.
Stop with the fear, I don't give 2 craps about goonswarm or their cult followers.
Quickgloves 2 weeks in a mmo, in a mmo that has been out for years is hardly enough time to take on any clan or corporation in any mmo. Unless the massive meta girly gossip that I hear about around here has infected other mmo's.
If its like any of the mmo's I have played long time ago, 2 weeks would make you fresh meat. Is this your first mmo you have played in? |

Goonswarm is EVE. You won't hear about them in any other game. Try getting some information before making long ranting posts that make you seem like an idiot.
Goons in general come from SomethingAwful, or SA. They play a lot of games because they have a lot of people. I'm a goon. I don't play with goonswarm (i'm TEST) but I am on the SA forums.
I play with Goons in OFP/ArmA/Arma2. They are half of the most successful group in arma, Shack Tactical. Our group literally wrote the guidebook for Arma (http://www.lulu.com/shop/andrew-gluck/dslyecxis-tactics-techniques-procedures-guide-for-arma-mono/paperback/product-1241969.html). They play loads of games. Here are one of their groups that play BF3. They just **** around and have fun. http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/platoon/2832655240985153294/

Are you busy gooning me now by wasting my time? I ask for your best. You show me a list of scrubs with less than stellar stats.
Even tell me which goon is in the top 100 of this game and then I'll be willing to change my stance. Why do they not wear goon tags? Is there something to be embarrassed about? Or do they wait for that one day where they actually beat a clan of skill and then start yelling we R goons,we trolled you.
Also are you joking? The best player on that team has a kd of 2.89 and I'm being generous with the number because I can't exactly remember. It was not note worthy.
Are they coming to get me in dust now? I'll quickly get back to it and try to put on my scared face. |

Btw you can absolutely never eliminate spys. Eve players are used to the long game - as in years. All you can really do is operate Corps and Alliances in such a way as to make them irrelevant. |

Correct, but I dont think leaving the doors so wide open anyone can walk in and read the latest news is the way to go. |

Well if they are doing that then you can bet there are some hidden layers, nice challenge for you. I only did one stint as a spy - I bought about the end of a small alliance by ensuring they got destroyed on the battlefield. Unfortunatly the people I had got to know were really nice/good and I felt bad. I am not cut out to be a spy, but I certainly appreciate the game. |

Yeah worst part about being the spy sometimes, I tend to 'extract' individuals of worth out and find them better homes before the place blows up, some say I am to soft hearted but still hasn't stopped me from preaching darwin.
And yes there is a hidden layer, unfourtunatley is too is all to accessible provided you had the right credentials which didnt take long to figure out. |

I would like to chime in here, that no matter what those in my organization say, EV has no specific thoughts or feelings towards any one EVE group. calling EvE tards, or goons out for being nerdy, is the same silly gneralizations that FPS are just drunken child molesters....
We are two different communities, with compeltely different outlooks on social, and public relations. You can be sure that an organization such as the EV, is going to constantly work to improve, as the need arises. Right now we need to please nobody but ourselves, when null sec opens up, maybe we will change our tune.... actually, DEFINITELY we will change with the times.
As an EVE corp.... you may choose to not like, or like any of the infected corporations we have, but at the end of the day, what you will like, is that no matter what is said on the forums, EV corps follow ONE set of rules.... which will make us consistant.
Iron, your a smart guy, and I know the game your playing, and in some ways I appreciate it. I'd actually be interested in hearing your thoughts on how the EV could improve. Especially if you represent one of the larger alliances, the EV needs to position itself to mold to what you want (eventually, right now, primary concern will be faction wars)
You know where to find me if you wish to talk politics.

Also, to reiterate... People who think they are spies in the EV, really are not spies.
When I first started Entropy Virus, I had crazy outlandish ideas, and big aspirations on how I was going to run things. I wanted to keep things super secret, and I had the network of friends to get big quickly. I made the mistake of talking to ROFL about working together, and next thing I know... drama city, spies, **** talking, EV sucks... blah blah blah.
Since then, I have made everything from what I do in the week for the EV public. Individuals are encouraged to have their own security in their corps, but when it comes to my intentions for EVE/DUST, I'm going to be honest with you, because me getting a job requires honesty, not secrecy.
Anyone who wishes to be a spy, feel free to apply! We can use some more activity on our forums! :D |

It's not a walkthough of missions, it's how to play, and win. They play loads of games. Here are one of their groups that play BF3. They just **** around and have fun. http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/platoon/2832655240985153294/100 people and a positive KDR at the very least. edit : oh, mittens posting about Dust. The goons are coming.
"Goons" is not a gaming clan. Hence they don't have standard tags. They just choose whatever name they want, usually something silly or funny.
You also don't seem to get how gaming works. I've done the clan thing, long before you, I'm sure (cue : "I'm probably older than you response, and I drink beer with my 12 adult friends."). That team is not the goons trying to beat you , it's them having fun.
Why not actually show me where you are top 100? I'm not looking through 133,000 people for winners. Why don't you prove you are elite PvP.
Edit :
I wish Goons was not the go to "scary entity" for EVE. I'm in TEST, and we are at least as ******** as GSF. I guess we just don't have the same history of forced emergent gameplay. |

I'm not sure it's productive to talk about specific EVE Alliances or Corps and their relevance in DUST with regards to EV (and STB) quite yet... For all we know, null sec DUST<->EVE may be a year off (or more).. especially warfare that may or may not effect soverignty. I can't see or any major null sec only alliance spending too much ISK just to grief for very long. Maybe at first just to show who's boss, but not in a sustainable way without being spread too thin then having a hard time protecting real important systems like those with moons producing real income. If current DUST market prices are any indication of what we can expect of cost, there may be no ROI in it at all for the forseeable future. I saw one post where one smart chap actually did some math and even with a trillion ISK in their wallet, an EVE Alliance would be broke in the span of about three months if being asked to bankroll a major nullsec offensive on the ground and in orbit...
I would not want my corporation to get involved with any ground based warfare without good reason to do so based on how expensive it will be at first. I think that means the real lucritive contracts may be far and few between relegating most DUST mercs to fighting Factional Warfare battles for NPC cash at first and, if we're lucky, a player owned FW corp will pay once in a while to hold or take a specific system or two. Even EVE mercenary corporations (other than the few who are really good ones) find it hard to stay constantly employed.
As a CEO, it will certainly make choosing where to spend the ISK (i.e. more ships for pew, EVE only wars with payments to CONCORD, allied sov space defence, or now planet side defense?) a hard choice to make for sure... we may look for other areas to profit from DUST in the short term and I'm sure there will be many, especially in the meta game since DUST corporations will probably need to learn the hard way... heh
I've had a corp be both the victim and the culprit in differeing levels. I've learned over time roles, how to lock things down, what to lock down, the "hidden layers" and how to use them effectively, etc. It is a balance that in some cases will only sink in when you login and your corp wallet, all BPOs, and all assets gone...all without a single shot fired...
