Now I've never played EVE so I'm not well versed on the subject but I have played many FPS games and have played on a competitive level and I can tell you that the way this new build plays and the direction CCP is taking this game is not good. I had very high hopes for dust but if things continue to fall in line it will be become a mediocre FPS relegated to unskilled gameplay dominated by EVE bankrolled players. I know all the EVE players want this game to be all about the so called "meta game" but if the FPS aspect doesn't improve we will be left with an MMO with mediocre FPS gameplay, played by only by EVE players.

Entropy Virus; best described would be imbetween Pandemic Legion, high KDRs, and Goonswarm Zergging, they have players with experience with both. I will agree opinions are not united, but this has more to do with how they are currently recruiting, they will be loyal to each other, they may fight, kick and screm but when they step on that fields they become as family.
IronSaberWolf unless they accidently give you a position of power, then you could disband them inside out, otherwise its information such " they have internal conflicts, stress if high, tension, morale low etc, good time for attack, etc, and letting you know if they have spies in your corp too, and if your in a position to hear about such stuff.

You're on the wrong forum, simple mistake this is what you're looking for.
And no I only play MAG because I have more fun joking around with the people in STB, I have lost all interest in MAG outside of the camaraderie my fellow STB members.
MAG was a skill based game, that is why there was such a disparity between the skilled players and the unskilled players, unlike in games like CoD where the gap is much more narrow. If things continue this way I will only play dust to help my fellow STB, but I will spend most of my gaming time in CS:GO. |

I love EvE CCP, so glad Im not apar of another game, Im glad to be called a "tryhards" will be rampant alone given EvE politics.
Seriously Ayures you are so dumb, in stating "tryhards", imagine a planet you owned for 6 months lost, all your, assets in your wallet because you thought you did not need/want to safly haul thes asset to another system, planet, mayb moon. Get it, you are now broke, every purchase gone, your loot in somebodies else pocket, and all they did was beat you up with help from his/her alliance.
Go to 0.0, you will see only "tryhards" who take their game to point of real life, you cannot play if you do not work |

What does spying accomplish this early in the beta? Oh cool you archived STB forums which are pretty much useless.
The usual reasons to infiltrate a corporation include hostile politics, greed, and disillusionment
I suggest reason in EvE will be the same so here some examples to get the juices flowing........
The most common greed-based reason to infiltrate a corporation is to establish some measure of trust, and then to abuse that trust to steal anything that isn't locked down. This might be as simple as emptying out a public corp hangar or borrowing a ship blueprint, or it could involve a somewhat more convoluted plan to tackle and kill a ship with valuable modules, as CONCORD will not intervene if members of the same corporation fight each other.
Another common reason is due the loyal player who is frustrated with his corporation (or more typically, his corporate leadership) he may decide to try to help the other side. This can be a bit tricky, since gaining the trust of the people your corporation is fighting; can border on the impossible depending on their level of paranoia. Consistently giving a lot of information to the same person will eventually work, or finding the one responsible for intel, if your information is accurate and leads to the infliction of disastrous losses.
The most common motivation for spying is probably to get better intelligence during wars. Spies want to know about member movements, fleet form-ups, and points of vulnerability. Being able to see a list of people that are online in a given corporation is nice, too, especially if you have
All of this will be relevant with DUST 514 being diffrent but very simillar. If you cannot see this in DUST, open your mind to CCP. |

Excellent post sir! +1
A very specific example...
In order to actually receive an orbital strike, I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that a small gang of friendly destroyers will be in orbit prepared to rain down heat on the forces doing battle below. That small gang, depending on the space being contended, will most certainly need a support fleet flying overwatch, wing, covert ops, and camping gates from the surrounding systems to prevent an enemy fleet from coming in and destroying those ships in orbit and effectively denying any air cover whatsoever. This will leave the mercs on the ground without support vulnerable and most likely at a huge disadvantage.
It gets even more complicated when you can be "hot dropped" by an enemy Titan or two during the battle and destroying all hope of further support from orbit for any planet/moon/district in that system. Also giving the side that was at first clearly overmatched on the ground a huge advantage. This is true in modern warfare today with airpower. Even in LoSec, a a decent pirate corp could ruin both side's day giving neither side the opportunity to perform air cover and basically ransom both parties into leaving them be while they execute their well thought out battle plans.
Knowing where the fight will be will help so much here as fleet staging can be done well in advance within jump distance...
We should not discount what STB-stlcarlos989 EV says and is basically a sentiment for most FPS players. There is no vest in the game outside of shooting people in the face unless you are playing with friends first. Second, something has to keep you coming back besides just the pew. It is all of the stories that will emerge from the tie between DUST and EVE that will make it unique and different than any other FPS out there... not the graphics... not the the specific gameplay... etc.. The players will make it something to keep coming back and those things will be most of the things that make EVE players stay with the game since 2003....along with a whole new set of things that DUST will bring... as both an EVE player and now DUST, it makes no sense to have within a year only other EVE players playing DUST. There has to be a large community built around DUST as well. However, I'll add that most FPS players are ALWAYS on to the next cool thing. No matter how cool the previous game was and the old game will sit on the shelf like an old favorite toy... nice to look at and reminisce but not played with anymore!
I think it's important for a talented group like STB to be careful not to become the BoB of DUST... or they will find themselves an even larger target than they already are becoming...

Stupid Drunk, very wise.
And to touch on a few things:
Spies..... The EV decided to go a completely different route when it comes to security.
We just do all the work for the spies, so we don't have to worry about them anymore. Individual corporations in the EV are responsible for their own security, and the EV will help them deal with their problems.
Also, our plans are not to remain an "appropriate size" Our plans are to grow and infect as many corporations with our brand of community. And the only real way to do that, is to be as open, transparent, as possible. If all the cards are on the table, then there is no way that the people bumping our posts, acting as if they are the authority on our survival, can tear us apart.
I find that EVE is VERY similar to the world we live in. Its divided by political bullshit, run on fear, propaganda, and the sheeple just buy into it. We don't require fear to keep our members in line. At first, its going to be VERY difficult, because most gamers are not used to this level of respect. But the difference between an idea, and a corporation, is one needs to validate itself constantly, and lacking that falls apart, while the other is held together by belief in the idea. And ideas cannot be taken apart.

Iron,
What you don't understand, is that some people will always stick by their leader, no matter how grim the situation. What makes the world so awesome, is that different people can do things in their own way. Just because Quick doesn't fit your leadership style, doesn't mean that his way of doing things will fail.
Quick obviously knows what he is doing, because he has a very VERY loyal playerbase. As is evidenced by his posts, he is not your normal leader, and well.... some people like it that way. Unorthadox, but man, playing with him is one of the more fun experiances you can have in a FPS. I think you should walk a mile in the man's shoes before you judge him. (cause then your a mile away, and now you have his shoes!)
The EV isn't about pretending to be awesome at a game we havn't played yet.... We take corps as they are, noob corps, pro corps, Corps from EVE looking for a home for their Dust operations free from politics, corps that don't understand how New Eden Works.... and we make them better. Simple.
So, in 5 years, when the EV and STB are still going strong.... all these posts prophesizing our doom will look really silly.
And if we do fall apart as you so expertly claim.... you will be no more of a prophet than those "end of the World" religious nuts, that claim every year that the world ends, hoping one year to be right.
-=-=-=-=-
I look forward to seeing how all the different Corporations, alliances, and organizations, come up with their unique way of dominating Dust. The only people's opinion who matter, are the type of people that don't rely on second hand knowledge, trolls, and gossip for knowledge.
**Edit** : Yes, we are animals that are in an enviropnment we are not accustomed to... because most of us havn't played EVE.... but hey... the game isn't out yet.... there is lots of time to learn! <3 |

If nothing else, look at it this way: How many other alliances or corporations for DUST are you hearing about? How many different people have chimed in on this thread alone, much less on all of our individual corporation threads? Eve corporations are taking note of us. No, we don't have everything together. Yes, we argue at times. Yes, we're learning how to work with each other and learn the meta game. Yes, we have spies. But...Why are the spies making themselves known? isn't that counter-intuitive to being a spy?
If we were so close to tearing ourselves apart like is suggested, and if we were so pathetic as is suggested, why not just sit in the background and watch it happen? No. The problem is that we are being recognized for what we are; a collection of some of the most organized, dedicated, and skilled FPS clans from the different genres: COD, MAG, Socom, and Star Hawk to name a few. What we lack in "dinner table" skills (what ever the hell that means) we more than make up for in our skill on the battle field. Just think of what it is going to be like when we take the best of the best from each of the corporations represented in EV, and put them on a single battlefield for special missions. (I have to stop talking about that now, my fingers started twitching from DUST withdraws just thinking about it).
That ladies and gentlemen, is what is keeping some of these spies and other alliance/corporation leaders up at night. It is the reason for many of the posts attacking STB and other members of EV. It's why they want you to believe many of the things that have been posted here. But if things were really as bad as they claim, why waste ALL this time spying and posting and what not? Believe what you want to about us, but know this. We're here. We're not going anywhere. You'll hear from us soon, one way or another |

ahh but my intel told me which specific poison you where going to use and I had used the antidote ahead of time.
However I know you had a deadly food allergy and had the chef perpare a meal using the ingredient.
This is basically how the dinner table is played out mostly it goes back and forth until one person seated at the dinner table came up with a more devious plan than the other. |

Hmm wish CCP would just let us get our eve corps into dust.
my eve corp is now 2yrs old and has a single CEO ( single member)
heres the problem, we have no corp/alliance structure in dust, well what is there is hidden from us. now everyone is wanting to make a corp. they bang on the forums, we this we are that, yadda yadda. but one big problem, The CORP is NOT live, it has no placeholder.
now another major problem is the mindset. no offence at the FPS clans you play a awesome game and run clans well. but a corp is not a clan, a CORP must make isk, it MUST pay BILLS. a CEO trains corp skills, this is not a short jog, its a long long grind.
you could start your corp and find only caldari pilots can enter as members, but worse still your skills only allow 20 members only, problem is you have 57 members waiting to join. your room mate, he aint your friend he will rob you, stab you in the back and sell the info gleaned to others.
theres a rule in eve, TRUST Nobody,
as to crushing everybody, MEh full of rubbish. there are bigger sharks just waiting to swallow you up in one bite. superpowers with trillions of isk and one goal to squash anyone in its way. the days of MAG.STB etc etc are gone.

check mate !!
that director you took in, thats me, i just transfered your corp wallet to my private wallet. i contracted all your weapons and modules to a caldari class Charon freighter. i also disbanded your corp, the ticker and corp name is now mine, and for sale at a 675m isk pricetag, but because i like you, i am willing to accept a ransom payment of 550m isk and your corp released upon payment.
maybe you was good at killing as a group, but one single clone took you down. boasting your good = a target everyone will hit just for the eve lolz
