Stupid Drunk, very wise.
And to touch on a few things:
Spies..... The EV decided to go a completely different route when it comes to security.
We just do all the work for the spies, so we don't have to worry about them anymore. Individual corporations in the EV are responsible for their own security, and the EV will help them deal with their problems.
Also, our plans are not to remain an "appropriate size" Our plans are to grow and infect as many corporations with our brand of community. And the only real way to do that, is to be as open, transparent, as possible. If all the cards are on the table, then there is no way that the people bumping our posts, acting as if they are the authority on our survival, can tear us apart.
I find that EVE is VERY similar to the world we live in. Its divided by political bullshit, run on fear, propaganda, and the sheeple just buy into it. We don't require fear to keep our members in line. At first, its going to be VERY difficult, because most gamers are not used to this level of respect. But the difference between an idea, and a corporation, is one needs to validate itself constantly, and lacking that falls apart, while the other is held together by belief in the idea. And ideas cannot be taken apart.

Maybe its jsut the language you chose? If its windows, on the taskbar, there is usually a little keyboard icon, that changes language, and characters used.

Iron,
What you don't understand, is that some people will always stick by their leader, no matter how grim the situation. What makes the world so awesome, is that different people can do things in their own way. Just because Quick doesn't fit your leadership style, doesn't mean that his way of doing things will fail.
Quick obviously knows what he is doing, because he has a very VERY loyal playerbase. As is evidenced by his posts, he is not your normal leader, and well.... some people like it that way. Unorthadox, but man, playing with him is one of the more fun experiances you can have in a FPS. I think you should walk a mile in the man's shoes before you judge him. (cause then your a mile away, and now you have his shoes!)
The EV isn't about pretending to be awesome at a game we havn't played yet.... We take corps as they are, noob corps, pro corps, Corps from EVE looking for a home for their Dust operations free from politics, corps that don't understand how New Eden Works.... and we make them better. Simple.
So, in 5 years, when the EV and STB are still going strong.... all these posts prophesizing our doom will look really silly.
And if we do fall apart as you so expertly claim.... you will be no more of a prophet than those "end of the World" religious nuts, that claim every year that the world ends, hoping one year to be right.
-=-=-=-=-
I look forward to seeing how all the different Corporations, alliances, and organizations, come up with their unique way of dominating Dust. The only people's opinion who matter, are the type of people that don't rely on second hand knowledge, trolls, and gossip for knowledge.
**Edit** : Yes, we are animals that are in an enviropnment we are not accustomed to... because most of us havn't played EVE.... but hey... the game isn't out yet.... there is lots of time to learn! <3 |

I would like to chime in here, that no matter what those in my organization say, EV has no specific thoughts or feelings towards any one EVE group. calling EvE tards, or goons out for being nerdy, is the same silly gneralizations that FPS are just drunken child molesters....
We are two different communities, with compeltely different outlooks on social, and public relations. You can be sure that an organization such as the EV, is going to constantly work to improve, as the need arises. Right now we need to please nobody but ourselves, when null sec opens up, maybe we will change our tune.... actually, DEFINITELY we will change with the times.
As an EVE corp.... you may choose to not like, or like any of the infected corporations we have, but at the end of the day, what you will like, is that no matter what is said on the forums, EV corps follow ONE set of rules.... which will make us consistant.
Iron, your a smart guy, and I know the game your playing, and in some ways I appreciate it. I'd actually be interested in hearing your thoughts on how the EV could improve. Especially if you represent one of the larger alliances, the EV needs to position itself to mold to what you want (eventually, right now, primary concern will be faction wars)
You know where to find me if you wish to talk politics.
*hint... not here haha* |

Also, to reiterate... People who think they are spies in the EV, really are not spies.
When I first started Entropy Virus, I had crazy outlandish ideas, and big aspirations on how I was going to run things. I wanted to keep things super secret, and I had the network of friends to get big quickly. I made the mistake of talking to ROFL about working together, and next thing I know... drama city, spies, **** talking, EV sucks... blah blah blah.
Since then, I have made everything from what I do in the week for the EV public. Individuals are encouraged to have their own security in their corps, but when it comes to my intentions for EVE/DUST, I'm going to be honest with you, because me getting a job requires honesty, not secrecy.
Anyone who wishes to be a spy, feel free to apply! We can use some more activity on our forums! :D |

Adding Ground based operations may also net increased profit.... Unless DUst is just an ISK sink to balance large alliances controlling 1/2 of null sec, increaseing cost as size grows....
Which makes sense.... cost should exponentially increase for a business, not be linear.

Most of what you said I understand already.
People that play consoles, are not just mindless robots that only play consoles. Much like some EVE players play consoles, some FPS players are well rounded.
I find strategy is like sales. the end of the day, if you can sell, you can sell pencils, cell phones, cars insurance.... whatever. Doesn't matter.
If you know strategy... you can play EVE, hex board games, warhammer, FPS mass players.... doesn't matter.
If you rely on using "strategies" instead of Strategy.... then your going to be in trouble if battlefield/political conditions change. That's why I generally don't pay attention to other people when I'm learning a game, and go in head first, because if you follow the general consensus on how to play a game.... your going to be trumped by people with experiance.
Now if you change the game.....
Anyhoo. |
