The Starter fittings seem to be unfinished. My Minmatar and Amarr alts both still have a "sniper" fitting. The version on the Amarr also breaks its PG limit. The new fitting doesn't seem to be there. |

I have some very, very mixed feelings about the sniper rifle weapon due to how it 'encourages' people to (not) play and the behaviours they (don't) learn with instant access to it.

And still no indicator for active equipment!
IMO an equipment UI would make placing uplinks and other stuff far less tedious. It would allow you to focus on everything else more easily and always know exactly which pieces of equipment are still alive and how much bandwith you have to spare. |

Personally, i want an equipment UI for everybody, but for logis, and logis only, the UI should be a control interface that lets them toggle equipment on/off, configure equipment parameters(e.g. hive = no grenades) and self destruct.
Coupled with the ability to hack equipment, we'd have a couple new classes: scavenger logis and parasite logis.
Or maybe we'd end up with logi queens directing a few worker logis.

Yea, Encountered my first bunny hopping build, guy was all Cardiac Regulators for jump boost and a plasma launcher in hand, couldn't hit him as he was moving up and down faster then a character normally moves side to side to dodge shots

Haha in one of the recent maps where A is always underground in the valley like setup, I saw a sentinel I believe jump over a building or at least as high as a clone reanimation unit, scared the crap outta me haha. I though the had a jetpack or something.
And yeah I cant find the recon suit and also with all the extra equipment, buying militia or even standard equipment seems pointless as the starter fits have every single equipment you may need.
I think CCP should change starter fits from BPOs to maybe 100 a month or something. It should be allotted and claimed.
Also arent we supposed to have both Shield and Armor AV?

As a dedicated scout since forever, I was looking forward to seeing how the recon loadout plays. Although the changes should primarily be to make the game more accessible to new players, the people that play now will still have these new starter fittings when they become vets. Also, veteran players are the most likely to come on here and post feedback about the new loadouts. Finally, Istill hope you will reconsider the change to oms and reverse this decision. The oms game mode has been marginalized far too long and iI believe the right direction to take is not to reduce the amount of player owned OMS, but increase it. Instead of removing vehicles, I'd rather see small and/or large turret bases available for players to buy and fit up

Poor widdle thang. Just put a lid on it and wait for auction house/player trade and then turn it into iskies. Ppl who didn't play the event or newbros that follow after will want it, and ppl like you who can't appreciate that we specifically just got a custom blueprint made just to hand out to the ppl who played this event will be the ones who supply it to them. Naturally at whatever cost you decide to charge for it

Did CCP intend for people to be able to fit 5 myofibs and jump on to most building rooftops? There don't appear to be any diminishing returns... was this tested? It was amusing for a match or two. Scouts who fit lots of myofibs should be able to jump onto a box, and then onto a roof top. Everyone shouldn't be free to ignore stairs and ladders. Jump height is way over the top, literally. Wait, yes, literally.
Will the assault scrambler rifle's damage buff be shown in the weapon stats? The currently look as though they don't reflect the damage buff.

I disagree that we need PS4 or PC to get the best out of this game. Uncharted is awesome and it was on PS3 , even Warhawk( I prefer third person shooters) didnt even have any hit detection issues and ran rather smoothly with no frame rate issues. I think its a bit mm small minded for lack of a better word to assume bigger is better or brand new is better. Just as windows 7 runs better on older laptops than Windows vista, or rather most games ran better on xp than on vista

I hope the back pedaling speed penalty makes a huge difference. I can understand not being able to hit a fleeing count but having one dance in front of me and my bullets it but deal no damage really sucked. I was forced to skill into the Mass Driver

I will go through each section as listed in the Dev Blog and give a rating from 1 to 10.
Starter Loadouts This was much needed, blueberry scrubs will finally be able to do useful things. This will greatly help NEW players (notice the emphasis). The Shield AV fit is awesome, especially with the damage increase and being able to have some AI capability as well. THANK YOU so much for putting Anti Vehicle grenades on the Anti Vehicle starter fit, it makes sense now. Also glad to see a beta suit back in action and I will be testing it out.
HOWEVER: This change should apply to all players, not just newberries. Everyone should be equal. I use militia starter fits every now and then for the LOLS, and I want to use these new loadouts on my main character, and not my academy alt.
Rating: 8/10 Apply the changes to all players, then I will change it to a 10.
Basic Medium Frames NO. NO. Oh, and NO. Why? Basic suits should never ever be viable, I don't care what anyone says. Basic suits are a means to an end, and the end are the specialized dropsuits. Basic suits should never be viable because they aren't even made to be used in battle, only the specialized suits. Of course there are a few exceptions to the rule.

Movement Awesome changes here, been waiting for this for a long time. I already love my APEX tiger scout, and now it's going to get more love. This might make more people use nova knives/shotguns/melee.

Game Modes and Maps The PC change is good, but the Research Facility forces a little bit more teamwork than the Communications Outpost. However there is the lag problem so this change was definitely needed. But when you fix the lag, remember to bring this map back into PC.
Now the negative stuff. Don't take Vehicles out of OMS. The installations do the same amount of damage to an enemy team as a vehicle does, it is just stationary. Vehicles force people to use teamwork and use AV. With the new AV vamp, it would be wrong to take the vehicles out of OMS, as we now have a more efficient way to deal with them.
Rating: 7/10
Handheld Weapons Love the HMG change, good job on making the AHMG viable. Some people in PC will have to change their strategies now, which is always good as it mixes the battles up. I also felt as though the LAV did a little too good of a job and carrying HMG wielding heavies. And now their counter is AHMG wielding heavies.
The Assault Scrambler has been UP for a long time, and now it is finally viable. I was tearing things up on my APEX Dragon vX.1 before, and now it's really going to tear things up.
Plasma Cannons needed a serious vamp, and now we got it. Thank you CCP!
Rating: 10/10
Equipment Deployable Equipment with an increase to 3 carried is awesome, and now I won't run out of Nanos as often.
Cloak fields needed at little bit of a decrease, as I was only able to fit a cloak when I got level 4 scout.
Dropsuit Modules will be interesting. A lot of bunny hoppers now, gonna make snipers hate hate and hate, but it will make people figure out new ways to counter this new method, which will be fun.

Turrets Thank you so much for the small blaster change, I can do better with an Incubus now, and I suspect more people will find the Incubus viable.
The missile turret change is nice, and I like it, it gives me more time to escape from them, and also makes it so that I don't waste an entire clip because of a speeding LAV. The increased heat up build on Railguns is probably needed, as I found my Tank being blown up too many times because of one shot from the heat up. The Large blaster turrets are gonna be amazing, I already do incredibly well with AV with the blaster turret, and now I'm really going to have fun, however, this might make the community call for nerfing threads, as the increased damage per shot is really going to hurt infantry.

New Vehicle Modules Shield Regulators - Greatly needed, I hated waiting such a long time for my shields to come back. Active heat sink - Awesome stuff, will counter the heat build up on both blasters and railguns, and will probably be seen on most railgun fittings. Active Dispersion Stabilizers - You're really trying the make the blaster AV viable I see. But think about how this will affect infantry, I personally think it will be balanced as AV, but as AI it will be over powered. Current Vehicle Modules - Thank you for making armor hardening a little more viable. Rating: 9/10
Light Assault Vehicles A much needed change to be sure, but this is what I would have done. I would have decreased the normal LAVs health to 75%, but keep scanning range the same. Then I would've brought back Scout LAVs with 50% health and increased scanning capabilities. This would make it so that all vehicles have specialized options.
Heavy Attack Vehicles Awesome changes here, proto HAVs are really going to rock and they are going to be very hard to kill. However, I do agree that if they cost 700000 isk, they should probably be beast. Thank you for finally forcing teamwork in HAVs by adding a small turret requirements.

I can't speak for armour based ones but I can say that while everyone is tank spamming I will be hanging mine up for the moment. I know it's a pain ring to balance these things without making them op so I'm not mad but I do hope you work on this. |

I have some very, very mixed feelings about the sniper rifle weapon due to how it 'encourages' people to (not) play and the behaviours they (don't) learn with instant access to it. Thanks for all the work here. Sad that the new starter fits only apply to new characters was looking forwards to trying them out. Just checking though after the changes with my Gallente starter fits, all I've got in my fittings, the frontline and medic have updated with the new equipment and also the slot layouts have all changed from 0/3 to 1/2 however my 'sniper' fitting is invalid as it's I think 2 over PG.
Does make slot progression on the Gal suits a bit odd now though...... But I can put my event BPO on a starter suit now. As if they weren't already squishy enough. Have to give them a proper run and see how things go but it feels odd..... More vulnerable somehow.
Had one game and saw the good and the bad of the jump changes. Got surprised by someone running behind then leaping over a crate this seems good.... Watching people scale the scenery and bunny hop plasma canons.... Not so sure but I'm happy to see how things play out with all the changes.

Why didn't you just remove them from my inventory? They are useless now. I don't want Blue Belles in my tanks. Squad only except Dust doesn't have vehicle locking or squad only access.
As to the turrets and stuff I'll have to determine if the tanks are something I can sell or trade ... like for a real tank.

All swarms are strong as hell, the plasma is slow but now really strong too, a dropsuit can now jump high enough to kill a DS easily. Tanks could be fitted like every one wants to make it, but the DS only can use a Regulator now which cost so many pg/cpu that it wont be useful. In actually matches if some bring an ds/ads 1 minute or 2 kills later u had 2+ swarm launcher guys which kill u in 3 seconds. And all the buffs of the past (for expensive sp would be nerfed) the reps are insane badly for ds and nothing happens to them. CCP it would be nice if ur Pilots can get some chances too in the future because flying/dodge/and kill at the same times are difficult enough. Maybe some Pilotsuits with ds bonus or reduced modul cost in ds or rep buffs...... At the moment its really a isk throwing gadget if u play ads. |

One of two viable fits left before is not usable now (enhanced hvy extender, hardener, burner) and you're forced to use the booster. However the ads was always my favorite thing in the game but it was abused beyond belief before the nerf to it and buff to swarms. I still did well and assume I still will but the insane lack of fitting capability is annoying. A nice balance will eventually come I'm sure but it takes time and there are a lot of things to work on still. We wouldn't want a return to the days where any unskilled pilot could kill 70 people without fear but yes a slight buff is needed. This coming from someone who cried all over the forums when the Nerf to ads and buff to av came. Dusted once again. deleted my fittings, liking the new progression, they're worth skilling into just play with your fits. I think this is by far the most well balanced day 1 for an update they've had. Not saying it's perfect but things are in a good place. Will be spamming my ascr till the heat build up gets nerfed, which I suggest over nerfing damage more than 5% if decided they are op which they are. Tanks are in a good place though. They don't rule the field and the limitations on fittings are well within bounds.

My opinion on the update.
Well I played Gal Scout earlier and I'll be honest. I was amazed I could do crazy stuff with my Gal scout. I could stack my Kin Cats and run fast as hell followed by the ability to jump high and shotgun everyone. Amazing! I love the Hand-to-Hand mods. But then again I felt like I was OP. Generally isn't that how we all want to feel like? Besides that I've trolled quite a lot of people. Ex. HMG Proto sent comes around the corner..... I jump like 4x his height and round around him and kill him. Pretty fun stuff.
Now for my tanker account. I was pretty disappointed of what has happened as a tanker. I can't have my usual fitting for my beloved tanks because of the stupid small turrets. The only tank NOT changed is the Kaalikiota... tank. I can fit my fitting there but I've also realized that 2 complex heavy shield extenders are not the same as before. So many tankers out and about nowadays but not something I'm worried about. I am no longer PC eligible for my corp now since my tanks are crap. (Not that PC matters that much to me anyways)
In all honestly this patch has Pros/Cons.
More Cons than Pros if you ask me.... |

My experience on the first match I played was getting freaked the f**k out. I opened fire on a guy right next to me, then he moon jumps in the air and was going to freak out here but I read the update log and get it now...i hate it. I see nothing about fixes to this crappy matchmaking throwing me in with veterans though..

I will outline changes and my understanding:
Blue bottle - Should have been tested with stacking? Come on CCP, everyone stacks everything. (Plates, Reps, Reds, Dmg Mods, Extenders.) Stacking penalties need to be flat and added day one. Not a bad idea, I can see 1-2 clear rails and crates, 3-4 jump over the wall twice my height. This separated combat a lot and has made more perch fighting. I have seen very few players digging in, but that is the only good thing so far. Take your derp sticker, admit it was missed and tell us when penalties are coming. In Pubs they aren't that noticed yet. In PC, they are brutal so it is coming.
HMG Nerf - Why would you pair the blue with a HMG nerf? Please CCP - Think rock, paper, scissor. If you buff paper and nerf rock, yeah rock is done for. No idea on how to fix this because it was OP before, but the dispersion is just awful. The only HMG that was out performing was the standard variant, you should have just nerfed that. Heavy's now have very little role, which means, logis now need to fight more. Rep tools aren't really needed so much (RT on Assaults). Completely flipped the chess board here.
Tanks - Hulls are very interesting. I have seen so many different tanks out on the battlefield and they all had different purposes. The blaster did not need a buff, that was silly. The rail needed heat since you made more turrets mandatory. Adding in the additionally turrets was awesome. Requires tankers to think tactically. I would have taken a page from the real tanks hand book. There are 3-4 guys in a tank for a reason. Make the mods only function with assistance but buff them again, then the tank driver/main gunner in this case, can't also flip on a scanner without the commander hitting the switch and evaluating the data. Maybe give the other turrets all the modules. Or 1 mod per seat filled. Then the tank can be OP because it is 3 guys fighting together.
LAV nerf - Uhm, why do we drive exploding cars now? This thing is a bigger death trap than the gremlin. I crashed into a building full shields and armor before turning into a burning heap. I consider using an LAV, but fast scouts are just safer now. I don't know who or why you would use a LAV now.
Equipment Quantity Buff - I like this a lot. The REs will need the nerf we are owed. Otherwise not needing to class switch on a supply depot is so much nicer.
Scrambler Rifle - Just OP now. Stop trying to explain. We all get it. Yeah, OP. Suggestion on balancing trick from Drifter in COD. Measure the TTK at each distance for each gun on a universally flat median (150 shield 150 armor). Now figure out TTK at each range. Make your chart. If anything can kill more than 2 foes without reloading or overheating it is OP. If anything can kill in under 2 seconds without aiming requirements, it is OP. Think it through.
Now to start shotgunning and REing again, everyone will love this play style. Face Palm!

No they won't... Actually there has never been any real hit detection on the rail-guns, no matter which one you mention...
Lately one of my team mates fired at a gal.ass. and I've seen with my own eyes how he clearly hit the target. But instead of at least loose a bit of the shield, that one started recharging! Nobody can tell me he didn't hit, they were 3 m from each other at the most, from one side of the null canon to the other...
But don't despair, there are still few things they haven't ruined yet... It's a hard time for the Caldari loyalists among us:
- Regular Rail Guns - nerved, even aiming makes your gun jumping like you've mounted in some new myo.fibr. the higher the meta, the higher it jumps - Rail guns - pre loading time... it becomes longer and longer each time they "fix" something, one day it'll be 2 seconds - Shields - worthless since Echo, they've buffed the scrambler... honestly, I don't think there is any weapon left which doesn't cut through the shields just as you whouldn't have any equipped ...
But I don't complain, there are still possibilities to get the enemy down and those haven't been nerved... yet... But it's only a matter of time, I guess...

That jump high is fun, but I think that's exgerar and beyond logic. And regarding the tanks does not seem that small turrets apart that even riding the c-1 and g-1 with std modules are fast filling the ra and cpu. And 1 turret seems a waste. In my view they were good as before they needed eraRA and more CPU and a module on each side, and just taking into account the damage that made anti vehicle weapons. Pro least the tanks had given them another color !! CCP bastards! Naik if you think the same

I have not been able to find this discussion in any other topic forums so excuse me if this is already been discussed. , why is it that when going into new dropsuit fittings it will not visually display slots & statistics like it does for suits that are already fitted. it makes building new suits very difficult when the very base of the process does not display slots or statistics.I often have ideas of what I would like to do with a new fitting but I have to go through quite a few and delete them till I can figure out the suit I'm actually looking for.why has it taken so long to fix that.? or is there just something wrong with my account. |

Sorry I don't fully understand what is happening for you. Do you mean when scrolling through all the suits to create a *new* fitting? And you can't see what the slot layout etc. is of each of those suits?
Not sure if pressing the square button helps you here....or whether I'm taking for granted my knowledge of general slot layouts and I already know what suit I'm gonna choose when creating a new fitting.....

just looking at the fitting creation screens now and i think i know what you mean now.
yes that would be useful though can't say I've ever wished it...what i do is press triangle on each suit to bring up their base stats and flick through those tabs. not as useful but thats all i can suggest to you if you're not already doing that.
of course that doesnt show you how your skills modify the base values...
you could also look at protofits.com - that is a fantastic tool and actually gives you more information. just bear in mind it's community run and relies on data exposed by ccp on a regular basis |

From your post I take it you are a jumper?
Until Uprising 1.0 (5/14/2013) I was shield tanker, then armor tanker as shields and rail guns were so broken as to make playing useless. I only switched to armor because shields didn't work and stacking was - Oops, different armor tanking I'm guessing.

No Balance! As in there isn't a compensating mechanic.
If I had a missile with splash damage it would be reasonable, but nothing (rail, missile, blaster) has much of any splash damage these days. Now I have to pull back to the red line and wait out the module cool down timers.

My favorite tank is a Lightning. Just sayin.

I have found a way to go against tanks for that xD Walk up to the tank as if I'm just a scrub trying to shoot the tank with a SMG then when I'm behind them or something with my SMG I shoot my adv plasma cannon and throw 3 Lai Dai Packed AV grenades..... It works... And IT IS HILARIOUS! |

While you think it is a gimick it is typical Dust play. Nothing really works well, if you were too far away to throw the LD's then your plan would fail. I have rarely lost more than shields on my armor tanks to a plasma cannon, unless someone else hit me first.
So, you must sneak up on a tank. Not a big deal or even a particularly genius move. The cloaked scouts try it all the time. Of course, that tactic would work less well if the modules would active consistently (like the fuel injection to escape with) and if any of the main weapons were effective against infantry.
I seriously don't understand why a main blaster turret is so ineffective against infantry, not just a particular class - all of them. Must be that weird CCP mindset. Or it might be because the game is still fundamentally broken, all the main turrets have significant failure modes. You never know if they are going to work. Worse, you never know when or how they will fail.
My first week back was bad. I must have lost a dozen tanks. Then I determined that the new 1M+ ISK tanks are junk and quit wasting cash on them. Now I am using my inventory of Sicas, Somas, Gunnies and Maddies. Not a big deal, when they are stacked up anyway. If I see players like you about I fall back, hit the red line and either snipe with a Thales to thin you out or with a particle cannon. Either works well enough. I rarely loose a tank to something other than another tank now. I haven't lost a tank in over a week to a single infantry using any weapon. Only teams cause problems.
It isn't really uncommon a tactic in other games. In MOG (My Other Game) we use jet packs and drop C-4 on a vehicle on the way by. If you're good, I am not, you can jump off, float over the vehicle, drop the C-4, blow the vehicle while killing anyone standing close by all before your jet pack runs out. Looks like I need more practice. ;-)
Of course in that game, taking out a tank might well be a suicide mission. One that many don't hesitate to take. Tankers as well, we all run headlong into a group of reds (and purples or blues) with the intent of disrupting their effort. It's messy but it works.
My favorite tank is a Lightning. Just sayin.

You know what I think is awesome, how CCP increases the cost of tanks 10 fold but you are easier than ever to get remoted from a LAV. I don't know how this wasn't changed yet but if CCP is trying to kill the vehicle aspect of this game they are succeeding. As a tanker I sincerely hope they remove this from the game before they lose even more players than they already have. As for me, I will not be returning and I will ensure everyone I know, knows not to play as well. |
