Next time just hide in a spot where they can't get LOS on you but you still have LOS on the hack terminal. So if someone goes to hack, you can kill them, but their snipers can't get you.

Which begs the question - at what point do you have enough ISK to feel like running proto all the time, no matter how many deaths you get? I have a pretty good chunk of ISK but I'm still reluctant to go proto more than 20-30% of the time...

I haven't seen it since 1.7, but I've been using the Duvolle Quantum on most my fits due to the scanner nerf (can't put it away until scan completes). Best way to check is to equip the basic scanner and see if you get the message.
