I have a social life and a real job, and don't have time for another one.
2. LAG. The lag in PC is horrific. This is supposed to be the pinnacle of the game, the best versus the best, and half the time it's an absolutely unplayable 1 FPS slideshow. There are simple steps that could've been taken to improve things (e.g. remove equipment noise and animations) but CCP don't seem to care. For a long time pubs were much more enjoyable for me, just because the framerate is so much better, but you can only pwn noobs so many (in my case, 27,000) times before you've had your fill. FW is supposed to fill the gap, but it's laggier than pubs so why bother?
3. 1.7. I'm not one of these nostalgia junkies who says every update makes things worse, that things were better in beta, etc. Until 1.7 I thought the game had been progressively getting better. But 1.7 demolished any hope I had for the game. Not only is it a disaster, but it was obvious it would be a disaster and CCP went ahead anyway. They've basically told pure infantry players like me to go **** ourselves. Vehicle users get a respec, we get nothing. Vehicle users get God mode, we get to hide in buildings. To be honest, it's a good thing for me, as it makes it easy to leave, which I should do anyway (see points 1 and 2). But I'm guessing the plan wasn't to alienate the 80%+ of their playerbase who want to shoot at someone who can shoot back. More fundamentally, it shows me that CCP will always pander to the loudest QQers, regardless of the consequences for game balance.
That's why I'm going, flame away. Lol the first patch ever to benefit pure vehicle users instead of pure infantry and you get people crying, funny thing is even when AV was OP they were still on the forums trying to get it buffed. Cya scrub, can I haz all your ISKies?

Sad to see you go, maybe if you pick a side in fw you might have had more fun, its basically pc matches back to back without all the trash you get on every level in pc.
Going to miss seeing you on my side as a blue randomly, cone back in a year?
o7 FW is laggy (not as bad as PC but still unacceptable IMO) and the games seem even more one-sided than pubs (in favour of Gallente, who I fought for the few times I've bothered).
Don't think I'll be back in a week, a month, or a year. I have a massive backlog of PS plus games to play, then I'll get a PS4, which apparently isn't in CCP's plans.

1. What do you expect from a player driven game? Especially Eve Online is more of a social / politics simulator than it is a game. PC matches not at convenient times for you? Look for another corp or do FW.
Also all that "being competitive" bullcrap: Just **** it, maybe? When you have 10 million SP and used them to specialize you are "competitive" enough.
3. The patch isn't even out a week. The bugs haven't even been hotfixed yet. You're jumping to conclusions. I guess we all noticed that the games performance took a huge hit with 1.7. But it won't always be like this. You just made the mistake of playing on patch day and not waiting before it is fixed, without having the patience to deal with it. ANd really: If you're one of these "I want to do something else now! Give me a respec!"-players then you're playing the wrong game anyways. Vehicle users got a respec because their whole skilltree was changed. They couldn't translate points in the current skilltree to the new one. It was the only possibility. Dust and Eve are games where respecs aren't necessary at all, because your skillpoints aren't limited. You can spec into everything. So no, they didn't tell anybody to **** off. They just did what is normal for the Eve Universe. You just have outlandish expactations.

Almost. I played 4 matches all dropsuit, one with my Raven and rail rifles I got from caldari LP (proto scrambler rifles OHKO me lol), one with a stupid raven fit I made with toxin and militia scramber pistol with two militia sidearm dmg mods. Two were with my dragonfly scout with shotgun, armor plate, repper, and extender all militia. First game I went like 8/9 second I went 17/4. If I wasn't in a tank I would probably be in a scout.

1. I don't blame you. PC is meaningless and requires you to play at 4:00am or some wierd time you have to set your alarm for.
2. Last week, I was good at this game. All the sudden I can't focus through the frame rates, I'm missing shots I hit and killing people I know I missed... and if its not lag; its 5 enemy tanks circling the map at once.
I'm taking a week off. I have other plans anyway, so a break is needed. I already left the game once, I'm right where I was again when I left the first time.
Take some time off. The only reason I haven't stayed away was because of the online friendships I like to keep progressing in this game, not the game itself. I suggest a month or two off. Hopefully you're not on the lower half of the SP pool and 1-2 months won't hinder you to the point that coming back would be more trouble than its worth.

Guess what: This will never change... in any game. Because to have "meaningful" games you will need good players to meet up at the same time. Because if you can just hop in you will always get your typical blueberries not knowing what they do. PC is "meaningful" because the corps tell who to send and especially larger corps don't allow every scrub to participate in PC. CCP can't change this. |

Perhaps I was a bit too harsh but honestly all these patches and we finally get one designed for vehicles and people freak out. Plus, from what I have seen most people who say they are quitting either are just looking trying to get some attention so people talk them out of it or they are just venting. Maybe he quits for real, I dunno, but to get on the forums to do it usually means it's more about attention. |

Hi Tzu!
I am not upset about the vehicles.
CCP has no idea how to do weapon balance. I.e. there are no defined weapon roles. I.e. how hard is it to get a ten meter range CQC automatic shotgun for heavies and scouts??
Or a heavy weapon with a ten meter range thats an automatic forge gun??
Instead we get rifles Uber Alles for every range the rifles are best...lol.

But at least in principle you could have a gameworld that's always live, with a massive playerbase, in which clans are constantly fighting for resources against serious adversaries, so you hop on whenever you want a real fight to help out your guys. PS2 is kind of a tentative step in that direction, maybe Destiny will do it more successfully. FW is the nearest Dust equivalent but it has too many problems right now, including the low bar to entry (necessary because the playerbase is too small for FW to be limited to vets).
But anyway, my point was not the timer thing is something that's wrong with Dust per se, just that it's one of several things that are turning me away from it. Maybe if I was still a student and single it wouldn't matter. |

That's totally uncalled for. I thought he just wanted to let CCP know about his experience with their game in the hope they, you know, might actually improve their product. But your WebMD psychology diagnosis makes much more sense.
The first two are things people have said for as long as I can click the next button of the forums, the third is already flooding the threads as people freak out about vehicles' first patch designed to make them better instead of worse. With such a huge number of other threads for him to post on it does seem more like a vent or rant. Also, I've heard WebMD is actually pretty good, though I would think my psych classes in college contributed more towards my conclusion. But I don't need a psych class or an online encyclopedia to see the frustration some people have dripping from their posts.

It is probably a basic feature of a game of this kind - Eve is at least as bad, I gather. But basically the game feels like a job. I have to play a certain amount of time per week or I suffer a competitive disadvantage, and to play PC I have to be on at a particular, usually not very convenient time.
Goes back to playing Kingdoms of Amalor.
Tech! Good to see ya man.
Auto shotty for heavies, YES! I'm thinkin' USAS-12 scaled up to accept 40mm shells that fire flechettes. Good old fashioned brutal minmatar weapon.
