I don't buy that "there was nowhere to hide". Even if all rooftops are covered, there are places to hide in that socket. For one, you could hide in the Charlie hack terminal area. Or you could hide in the stairs area on the supply depot side of Alpha. I also don't buy that a forge, or even multiple forgers, could cover dropship access to every roof. You might not be able to hover for very long, but if you approach the socket from the outside, you could at least get access to the ladder areas. Or just climb the ladders. If you don't want to take the time to pry them out of their high spots, you shouldn't be complaining when they kill you from those high spots.

As someone who plays as a sniper on a regular basis, the first thing I'd do once I was killed (and saw what weapon it was that killed me) would be to take note of the direction of the shot, then spawn in the MCC and go hunting. Most snipers won't leave their nest until a bullet or two convinces them otherwise. Take them out, then decide whether or not your team would be better off with you staying as a sniper/countersniper or rejoining the frontlines. Life is killing me.
