Not sure what you're referring to, because while the SMG does fire at 1000RPM, in no way does it have more DPS than an HMG. Given that SMG damage is around 24, and HMG around 19, and the HMG shoots twice as fast...

Yep. I've been running heavy on an alt, and I actually decreased the cost of my fittings recently; am now using BPO suit and STD HMG, and have noticed no real decrease in performance; not going back to ADV gear, I don't think.

Burst deals that damage more accurately and in a shorter period, tho. In my experience, the tight crosshairs of the burst HMG lets you pop out of cover and melt people, then drop right back in.
