I'd love to see in game tutoring. Maybe "apprenticeships" in the future? Get paired with an experienced player in a particular specialization? |

Quote: I think no FPS players posted something like this because aiming just seems like a basic skill. Playing a FPS game without aiming? It makes no sense, but for some reason it's something that many players here have a problem doing. Almost every gamer likes a different sensitivity setting, so you need to find out what works for you. If you can't even hit a stationary target .
Thanks for this. Fixing my sensitivity per your post helped a lot, and allowed me to start hitting some reds. Also EVE players can offer a lot to things like tweaking out fits and skill plans. The number of pro fps players with killer kdrs that I have shown how to tweak a fit astounds me. Maximizing your set up is well a religion in EVE, and most Dust players don't eve realize that a good cheap tweaked fit and skill plan will allow you to make up for a good portion of your new to fps learning curve. Would love to roll with you in game at some point and learn some more. Hope to see you teaching some classes for the uni when they get them going. |

Hi all, I've been trying out DUST. I don't play EVE. I like editing wikis. But apparently I can't edit the DUST University wiki unless I join EVE University *IN* EVE. But I don't play EVE. So does this mean I can never edit the DU wiki?
Also, your wiki should point people to this thread. It's difficult for a DUST player to contact you guys. We can only do so using the horrible on-screen PS3 keyboard in the DUST Mail app. |

You'll be waiting for one of the directors to accept your application. When I have time, I'll give a shout to one of them if I see them online. |

Hi everyone.
Back when I tried out EVE, my friends talked to me about EVE University, and I thought it was really cool that some people actually wanted to help out new players. I'm not a member of EVE Uni, but regardless, when DUST hit open beta, I thought it would be cool to see if there'd be some kind of section open up for the DUSTy side of things.
Of course, there was. I sent in my application as soon as I could, and here I am.
I can't wait to start helping everyone out as they start in DUST.
Let's all do our best, alright?

Well, when you go to the root of these forums, you should see a DUST University section with General Discussion and Corporate announcements forums. We stuck all our guides and training material in the Corporate announcement forum if you want to brows through them. If you have any questions, ask them on the General Discussion forum in the DUST University section.
If this is the first time you have logged onto these forums since joining DUST University, there may be a delay of a few hours before you are able to see our Cooperate forums. |

I am a Noob in all respects. Came over from Halo 4. I had one of my friends help me set my character up along with my suit and weapons. I have tried to go in and train my guy up. Not sure if I've done things the right way or not. My armor and shields suck and my primary weapon takes forever to kill anyone. I don't have a clue about nano hives and feel like a complete moron. I'm reading the forums and hopefully this will give some definition to what I'm supposed to be doing.
I went into leveling up and I thought trained my guy up. Spent some sp and isk on weapons and suit. I probably just wasted all the isk and sp. Noob mistake I guess. Is there a guide that can walk me through the entire process. Boneheads like me need to KISS. Keep It Simple Stupid. Any help would be appreciated. I take criticism well. Don't hold back. |

You should join a corporation then. Most corps have groups of people dedicated to helping newer players. Maybe even join Dust University as the ENTIRE CORP is dedicated to helping new players. Then you can get in game and they can show you while explaining everything. |

As a Halo 4 vet you are a step ahead of where I was when I started. I had never used a consol and had not played an FPS since Doom in 1993.
If your FPS experience makes you fairly competent at hitting your target, then skilling up your Weapon skills in the weapon of your choice early is recommenced as a strong offence can be a good defence (or a Dead merc canGÇÖt hurt you... unless he dropped a remote explosive..).
If you donGÇÖt have a lot of confidence in your aim, the first skills you should be going for are the Shield Upgrade and Armour Upgrade skills in the Dropsuit Upgrades section. These gives you 5% more Shields and Armour respectively. (Good to skill into early.)
If you want to add something to your fitting and you donGÇÖt have enough CPU or Power Grid, then level up the Electronics (CPU) and Engineering (Power Grid) skills as needed.
Equipment: Goes in an Equipment slot. 1 Equipment slot per suit, except for Logi suits which have anywhere from 2 to 4.
Hold R2 to access your Equipment wheel, select the Equipment with the Right joy stick. When you have the equipment out, press R1 (same as shooting) to deploy or use. (Nanite Injector is the exception to this.) Light tap on R2 will switch you back to your primary weapon.
Deployable Equipment: - Nano Hive: Gives people ammo if they are close. Higher level ones can heal too. - Drop Uplink: Dead mercs can respawn from your deployed Drop Uplink. - Remote Explosives: (Under Weapons skills, Explosives, Demolitions) Deploy using R1. Detonate using L1.
Nanite Injector: - Revives an unconscious merc. Do this by pressing the circle button when you are close to the body, before they bleed out. This is quite buggy at the moment.
Tools: - Repair tool: I have never used one, but I think you target a friendly and stay close to them to heal them. - Active Scanner: Point and shoot to actively scan a cone shaped area in front of you for enemy. Their dots will show up on your teamGÇÖs radar. |

Thanks to all for the info and suggestions. I have a better understanding now. I spent a few hours reading up on the history and have watched I don't know how many youtube videos. Anyway, I'm impressed with the game and intrigued at progressing further. Not sure where that will lead but I'm happy with my decision to leave Halo 4. Semper Fi |

On a further note I just wanted to say that this forum is absolutely wonderful. Everyone gave me great suggestions and explanations as to how and why. Much appreciated. Just happy to have found a new home and hopefully new friends. As I am a Marine Corps vet I am used to ending my posts with Semper Fi. I hope that does not offend anyone and will curtail usage if someone is. |

I was wondering if there would be any heavy training scessions? Almost all other class lectures and things like that are happening these days, and i was hoping for a heavy lecture to be in scession. I would gladly help if this becomes a thing as I myself ihave been playing as one for a few months, and if I can give some experiene to new players. I think this is a good time for something like this to happen so we can help new and rising heavies. I hope someone who cordinates lectures and classes will read this and think this is a good idea and will make something happen, and I hope you guys have a good day.

Firelink, if you want to know what is going on as far as training in the Heavy Department, contact the Department Head Flaminius-Aurelius Julius.
If you are interested in becoming an instructor in the Heavy Department, post your request in the Instructor Program thread on the DUST University/Corporate announcements forum.
If you have further questions, post them in the DUST University/General Discussion forum. |
