So the days of rooftop camping Forgers can return? Hell no. Back then they owned infantry easily and calling in a DS to go to them would just be you feeding them WP. They are fine as of now. A Iittlw reduced charge time maybe.

I like to think that the only reasom you can't pick up weapons is because they are nanite locked. Meaning your body's nanites need to match your gun's nanites in order to use it. If you played MGS4 you would know what I mean.
