When firing your weapon, it should cause you to appear on enemy radar. Of course, taking into account your Scan Profile. Firing each shot would temporarily spike your scan profile, causing you to appear.
Individual weapons could cause different spikes to your profile based on 'loudness'.
In conjunction with this, I'd like to see a futuristic crossbow type weapon that fires silently. It would be decent at mid-close range, with a huge headshot bonus. It would mainly be a style-kill type weapon, but would be extra effective for stealthy scouts if my radar idea was implemented.
Let's up the stealth and Ewar mechanics!

That's not how EWAR works in EVE, so it should not work here.

It would give no real reason to use active scanners (the most BS thing to ever be added).
I still don't understand how out of all the random Sci Fi BS in Dust echo location is apparently not possible lol

No. This will marginalize active scanners and the role of the GalLogis. I'm skilled into it, but my primary skill set is still the knife on my Minscout. There will also be no point in training up scan precision since the map will constantly be lit up like a christmas tree with everyone shooting.

What the hell is with FPS's and crossbows nowadays?
And who in hell would use a crossbow when you got plasma weapons melting everything around you, suits that can withstand 20GJ of force, lasers that would set everything on fire and kinetic riflea that would punch a hole in a tank?
And also I see no real reason to add a silencer weapon attachment in this game. And I have always found how bs it is that in CoD and BF running a silencer is actually more rewarding than not using one. Even the range you loose by equiping one is not noticeable by equiping one.
Not to mention that it will hide you from the minimap when you shoot.
In Dust everything is by EWAR. A silencer would not work in this game since shooting won't reveal your location.

MAG had something like this, but iirc it didn't put you on the map, it gave a HUD arrow pointing in that General direction. In fact, they had three such arrows: a grey one as mentioned above, a yellow one indicating incoming fire and its direction, and a third red arrow when you were actually shot showing the direction.
If anything were to happen, this is how I'd like it to be, but not an icon over you or on a minimap.

So. I know you like the crossbow idea, but unfortunately eve is based on fairly hard scientific principles (if extrapolated a bit).
There are a few problems with bows / crossbows and arrows:
1) The first problem is that eventually the conversion of potential energy from drawing the bowstrings simply becomes horrifically inefficient, there is an upper limit to draw weights, even with crazy future materials. 2) The second problem is reloading & rate of fire bows / crossbows just don't get enough rounds down field and even if you go with crazy advanced antimatter rounds... it's still more efficient to fire them out of something else. 3) The third problem is that our dropsuits can shrug off sniper rifle rounds travelling at 7000m/s and all sorts of other crazy unbelievably dangerous stuff (scrambler weapons are ****ING LIGHTNING GUNS) that bows and arrows even ones made from super-space technology is like bringing a rock to a black-hole fight or trying to arm-wrestle god.
The principles behind a railgun are much better at accelerating a projectile and they can put more rounds down range. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQNHsS-BNs4

We could at a very... Veeeery long stretch, suggest that the planets we're fighting on have no atmosphere and therefore sound will have a hard time traveling anywhere. But that's only if we're feeling lazy.

I could have swore it did put a red dot on the map and above your head, but only if you weren't using a silencer.
You can already locate someone who's firing a weapon, if it hits you you get the indicator. If it doesn't hit you, you can spin a little and (thanks to the wonder of multiple speakers) figure out which direction it came from. Personally I'd rather have less things popping up and pointing people out, it's like no one actually wants to use their eyes and ears. |

Like I said, this weapon's primary purpose would be for style, not efficiency, just like Nova knives currently. There could be a few stealth related perks to using it, to the point where it's actually viable, but it would definitely never be the most efficient weapon on the field.
And don't spiel about drawing bowstrings. Who says it needs to be a physical string, the gun just needs to look like a crossbow. It's for fun

If the spike were a flat increase (not percentage based) and variable per weapon system this would be an awesome addition IMHO.
Energy weapons would have the least increase, followed by Hybrid and then Projectile would be the most significant increase.
Make it something like +3 to Scan Profile for Energy Weapons, +6 for Hybrid and +10 for Projectile.
We the pc players make up a huge majority of active players. --Roman837
