Commando Contingency + Sidearm showdown was really fun and rewarding. The Templar one was awesome too. Million clone challenge was basically free SP, which is always appreciated. (I missed that one :((((( )

I think the "get kills with X or kill suit type Y" were the best as it encouraged players to alter their game play style if they wished to participate but gave a somewhat random bonus for killing specific suits as well. Anything slightly creative like that will keep me entertained and coming back.
edit: Obviously the more Role Play/Story driven events were the most enjoyable (Templar Hunt/Caldari Prime) but that isn't feasible.
Flat XP events were nice for grinding in the past, but that is unlikely to get people's attention as much at this point.
I would not be entirely opposed to future events with AUR bonus options Like the (poorly timed, Operation Origin) as long as those purchases are optional and don't offer an obscene advantage. Especially if that helps CCP validate continuing event support and keeps the servers active/profitable.
I think the other justification for events is that they tend to reward players with AUR items, which I assume is to encourage less savvy/patient players to restock fittings with those items when they try them. If that works, might as well continue.

Thank you! Took 2 years for CCP to finally have the epiphany that it takes statistics to crunch big data. Now I am sure there is more to it than meets the eye and it has not been done effectively so far for some reason. But all the same it's a very good sign that the Dev's are finally talking about methodical balancing based on math (e.g. answering questions such as "Am I 5 times more likely to score a kill if I spawn with AR than with PLC?" and then finding fixes for these situations). I hope this is what you are talking about here, Rattati, and if so, it's great to have you on board.

I have friends that are still upset with CCP (well, I suppose I am too, but it's starting to fade).
Just on a side note: How possible is it to include item trading between players? Is it much different than isk trading and can it be done via server updates?
And if new suits and weapons can be added, can new modules be added as well?
finally, I know that you're looking for ways to monotize Dust 514. reintroducing BPO's is no longer an option but what about BPO color schemes? They're not the actual suits. But what if you could do a one-time purchase to make all your Caldari Assault suits cyan, with grey highlights, for example? Hence an extra module that would be just a color scheme.
I probably won't get a response to this, but if you at least read this, then thank you very much. I feel a little more positive about the future of Dust (its still dead, but at least its funeral seems a lot farther away).

By 'new weapons', he most likely means things like 'tactical scrambler pistol' / 'assault bolt pistol' / 'tac rail rifle', not stuff like 'scrambler lance' or 'plasma mortar'. Aka no actual content, just tweaks of existing.

As for rewards; special edition suits, officer weapons.
What I would like to see from future events:
- Better story & lore connection
- Faction Warfare Events; reward extra LP.
- Special contracts weekends with different player limits. (8v8, 12v12, 20v20, etc.)
- Planetary Conquest Events; reward stuff depending on which district you hold. (A corp can only get the reward for 1 district.)
- Special contracts weekends with no rewards for the losing team
- Special contracts weekends with buy-in matches
- One weekend combining 20v20 buy-in no rewards for the losing team.
Stuff like that would be cool.
What I do NOT want:
- SP events.
- Grind events. (2k kills in a week QQ)
- Specific suit / weapon events.

To elaborate as to what Saberwing is saying, I asked this question at Fanfest at the community panel.
Caldari Prime was an event that took place in (March? I think). Planning for that event? Started in November. It took resources from both Dust 514 and Eve Online development teams and there was a lot of planning attached to it because of how crazy of an event it was. EDIT: Bear in mind, they had to run special coding to set everyone to 'Suspect' in Eve for the giant free-for-all, had to have people role-playing some of the more important characters, provide in-game NPCs/players for storyline purposes... Dust side they had to create the battles, skybox, falling debris, etc. All for that one event.
To quote CCP Eterne, the minor little lore events were awesome but started to get really gamey in that "Mordu's Legion wants you to do this, Mordu's Legion wants you to do that" which can understandably get a little annoying if it's done too much.
Despite that, I still feel as though we should have -some- lore descriptions toward -some- of the events. Maybe every three months or so, so that we actually feel like we're having an impact but it's not so frequent that it's just boring.
The best events, of course, are the ones that don't require assets that will likely never be used again (like Caldari Prime's skybox and falling debris). It's much easier for the community team to jot up some description of events that are happening and just let it progress like a normal game.
Extra Credits (youtube channel) put it best with a scenario:
"You are a community manager. You have the opportunity to run an in-game event, you don't get to add any new assets to the game or any special coding done, but you are given two junior community managers to help you with the event. The event lasts a day, and starts in two weeks. What do you do?"
If you can answer that question, I'd say it's pretty likely that Saberwing/Logibro and the gang will consider it

Event's yes,
Is the backdrop/mood/skybox/thingiemejig from the caldari event still there? Or would that have to be uploaded again? thus making it a client update = not going to happen. Because as it stands, the EVE/DUST link will not be worked on anymore so why not use it simply as a background, i think a lot of the remaining players would like it very much.
Also, a PLC event would be hilarious, just give people some free PLC's and have a plasma lobbing feast.
Maybe a headshot event? extra wp for headshots? In the case of nova knives that would be jugular slid bonus points.

That's fine, Saberwing. Just add more lore - I think ppl care less about custom art in the background and care a lot more about meaningful story driven connection to EVE. Seeing that Leviathan in the background was nice but it was still just a minor detail - the feeling that you were fighting for something was the main benefit of the event.

Industrial Engineering, M.S. thesis on Bayesian Statistics took 2 more years for a total of 5. Cool, thanks for the answer. How does a Industrial Engineering degree contribute to your position as game developer? Or is it mainly the Applied Statistics part? Don't get me wrong, I'm not looking for a opening, I'm just curios and a little fascinated by Industrial Engineering and wondering how this is applying to the games industries.
@CCP Rattati Maybe this just got lost, I repost it one last time, I promise.
