Thank you for opening up a bit about current plans. This doesn't sound like good news (at least nothing that will change people's minds after Legion news) but at least it is something.
If CCP is moving towards "transparency" I have one big thing I'd like to hear more about: Why the choice to drop any real chance for a future client side/content update? We have been told that there were multiple departments working on different projects for dust and patches released whatever was ready (so presumably when 1.8 was released there were a few projects partially complete at the time). Is it not possible to look at those projects and see what can be finished with whatever limited staff remain working on Dust?
It seems like putting the effort into rounding off the edges and filling any empty spots (heavy weapons and racial vehicles stick out) would make a wise long term investment if it helps keep people playing long after large updates/patches roll out. Maybe not veterans, but new PS3/Dust users.

Can we expect future events? And if so, what frequency and for how long?

I think the "get kills with X or kill suit type Y" were the best as it encouraged players to alter their game play style if they wished to participate but gave a somewhat random bonus for killing specific suits as well. Anything slightly creative like that will keep me entertained and coming back.
edit: Obviously the more Role Play/Story driven events were the most enjoyable (Templar Hunt/Caldari Prime) but that isn't feasible.
Flat XP events were nice for grinding in the past, but that is unlikely to get people's attention as much at this point.
I would not be entirely opposed to future events with AUR bonus options Like the (poorly timed, Operation Origin) as long as those purchases are optional and don't offer an obscene advantage. Especially if that helps CCP validate continuing event support and keeps the servers active/profitable.
I think the other justification for events is that they tend to reward players with AUR items, which I assume is to encourage less savvy/patient players to restock fittings with those items when they try them. If that works, might as well continue.
