Are you addressing the issue that vehicle users are receiving war points for vehicle damage. This creates a payout disparity which enourages greater tank spam.

I know the community is screaming for infantry based AV to be more effective and I can dig it but vehicle based AV is hilariously strong.
If railguns are nerfed in a large way and mlt vehicles have more drawbacks than just cooldowns you'll have two returning players on your hands.
Any specifics on the hotfix? Or any general ideas? Or possibly cryptic haiku? |

I can't elaborate more at this stage (simply because I'm not aware precisely what these fixes would entail yet), but I know that the guys are taking a look at it.

If they're not working toward making webifiers function, then the only other thing I could think of would be to reduce vehicle speed by about 10-15% and eliminate the ADV and PRO variants of tank turrets, instead having the damage scale as a reflection of skill level in the respective gear... the maximum would have to be below ADV level of power, as currently the PRO level weaponry is just absurd and unnecessary... But that would in turn create problems with fitting vs power and cost.
Hardeners are also a terse area, but if tank weaponry is reduced as mentioned above, the need for 2 hardeners at the same time just to survive a barrage would be removed, and would allow infantry a bit of a comeback without fully stomping down the tanks.
Also, the WP for damaging tanks may cause a shift in favor of AV over the next few weeks.

I've returned recently to dust and tried out tanks to see if they really are so broken. IMO there are 2 things that are broken about tanks.
- Large railguns. High alpha damage AND high dps is just too good.
- Overdrive booster-thingie. I tried it and Loled. It's stupidly powerful. Is this module that makes tank invincible as they can just turn it on and run at ridiculous speed.
Cut the overdrive speed bonus by 30-40% (maybe even 50%) and tanks will be fine, good tankers will plan ahead their escape and scrubs will just die.

You've said pretty much the only thing I've seen rationally said about vehicles being OP for months; no more, no less.
Evidently our dear Saberwing has yet to bother to listen to these things in their now-quite-historical contest, and after an extended period of barely-disguised overt laziness on the part of the CCP devs, decides to try to assuage our eminently-reasonable fears with obviously-empty platitudes to the contrary.
I might hope that this could serve as a wake-up call about the incompetence among the devs at CCP (which extends well beyond the glaringly-persistent imbalance-into-ridiculous recent apologies by an oft-quoted but questionally-revered individual sometimes known as "IWS"), but apparently multiple months of "vacation" have done stunningly little to establish the reality of this much-vaunted balance, or any other signs that this is other than a half-bit FPS perpetuated by a group of morons, except for those moments that "IWS" and others continue to defend it on substantive grounds beyond their own self-aggrandizement, which just so happen not t exist as far as I've been able to tell.
I suppose I shouldn't aggrandize myself just now, but I do feel some entitlement so far as I have been a player whose patience has already exceeded that of the 'normal' gamer upon which you (CCP!) might expand your revenues to a reasonable level, and so far as someone who might or might not have funneled similar revenues to your doorstop in the belief that you don't entirely suck at your jobs: You suck at your jobs.
I can't possibly be the least invested in the fate of DUST 514, considering the hours I have given to it, and I can't possibly be the only one out of patience with how the development of this game has gone, considering the tenor of the forums in general since I decided to stop playing, and in consideration of those two things, I can tell you that I have no future even nearly-comparable to that of EVE's, and that you'd likely be better-off listening to anyone other than the members of your vaunted CPM and their respective sycophants than you would a community calling for other obvious changes and not massaging your undeserved egoes. |

To me, the best way to do it would be to change the fitting costs on vehicle modules and make it where the pilots have to choose between speed, DPS or EHP. I am not all in for the speed change idea because vehicles should be able to run and hide just like infantry. A small nerf may be in order for speed mods but too much of a nerf to them wouldn't allow good pilots to escape destruction. I am not a pilot but I don't want good pilots to be overly punished because people don't work together to achieve their desired goals. Thanks for posting, every blue tag we see shows the community that you are here and listening to us. Thanks for the hard work and I am really enjoying 1.8.

I feel your frustration too, but when I saw Sabrewings post; I saw an opportunity to give feedback, where you saw an opportunity to give abuse. One of these approaches has a better chance to improve things. Do you want to fix tanks or upset people?

The problem NOW is that 2-3 people working toghether can't kill a tank because of the ridiculous speed boost from overdrives, once your health is low activate the overdrive and enter the plaid zone, no brain required. That's what pisses off people.
I want tanks and infantry to be balanced and FUN, i joined Dust514 on 25/5/2012 and played since then. I played a both a Blaster Surya (when missiles were so op that they oneshotted infantry with SPALSH) and proto forgeguns.

I would be happy if a the recall would deny ordering a new vehicle for a longer time. I can live with the recall itself but what bugs me is that you can recall you damaged vehicle and call in a fresh one short after that should not be possible. |

The final fix for the tank problem
This is a long term plan but will fix most of the issues:
Make a medium class vehicle (between the light and the heavy):
- This vehicle would have no spare sits, the pilot will also be the gunner;
- It would works similar to the tank now, but with 1/3 of the EHP;
- Same price as the tanks are now;
- Guns will have smaller size than current (same tracking, 1/3 of the damage from now);
- Speed should be the same as now;
Make the HAV role different:
- Change it so it needs AT LEAST 2 guys to make it effective: 1 driver, 1 gunner at the heavy gun, 2 gunners at the light gun;
- Same EHP as now;
- Same DPS as now;
- Slower tracking (1/2 of what it is now) so it have hard time killing light infantry (there is just no way a tank should be able to kill a scout or a fast medium suit);
This changes will end the issue of the 1 man army that is currently the main problem of the HAV QQ. |

Then switching suits needs to take a lot longer too, and you need to be killable the whole time. You don't realize that some people are actually using it how it's meant to be used, adapting to the current situation on the battlefield. Your suggestion makes it a lot harder to use it for the intended use. It would not affect those wishing to recall damaged vehicles as they have no desire of calling in a new one in the heat of battle. Instead recall time should be linked to armor % lost on the vehicle. And recall should have a cooldown of 1-2 mins to stop people avoiding cooldowns on rail tanks.

Are you addressing the issue that vehicle users are receiving war points for vehicle damage. This creates a payout disparity which enourages greater tank spam. Can a Dev please comment on this? It's already becoming a frequent issue. I went into 5 matches and watched tanks trade fire the entire match earning 5k+ wp. The payout for that amount of wp only will encourage greater abuse by players |

Make all tanks slower (like much slower even with injectors) and swarm missiles faster like 2x than the fastest possible dropship.
I bet CCP will do nothing of this. They will just make militia tanks more expensive to keep tankers with high SP happy and make them even more OP. |

Yes the big problem of vehicle vs av is when someone is recalling it... /sarcasm.
If you were going to blow up the tank, then when the person gets out you're still going to blow it up... Failing that you could just shoot the guy who's recalling it.
The problems are mostly module stacking, hardeners need to have their active time halved when more than 1 is equipped... Armour rep needs a severe stacking nerf since it doesn't stop repairing when being shot... Damage mods should just be removed because the damage output from even small turrets is fine, large turrets just get stupid.
The other thing is large turrets, need to deal a lot less dps... slow the fire rate &/ refire rate of them add some real recoil to the rails and make missiles viable rather than a "haha I got close to you and mashed the fire button so you died, but if I wasn't next to you I wouldn't deal any damage" make it actually usable at range where it should be getting use from. |

The only thing Dev's need to do with tanks is increase the price tag. Militia tank frames should be 250,000 ISK. Standard should be 500,000 ISK. advanced should be 1,000,000, and proto should be 1.5 mill. That would stop spam. Also reduce the number of tanks able to be placed to 2. Also I don't agree with getting 2 AV or flux grenades. Locus grenades were okay with than nerf. Any other type of AV should be buffed as well. I hope you guys take thes into consideration. From a players perspective I think veryone would agree. Tanks aren't over powered AV is under powered. |

placing a hard cap just hurts the real tankers. so no... also thosse price tags on the lower end tank are to much though i do agree with the price rise.
ive solo'ed several tanks the past few days using a 12.9k isk advanced forge gun fit. inculding the std type's. shoot them in the arse goddamit. even with a hardner up a mlt tank cant stand up to that.
also dont throw av nades at shields it does NOTHING useful.

Recipe for killing tanks, PLC with AV nades. Destroys shield tanks no problems. Two people doing this can handle armour tanks easily too.
1v1 tanks win 3 infantry can kill 3 tanks 4 infantry can kill every tank that gets dropped in.
Numerically it is balanced, there is a critical mass of AV needed as massed AV increases effectiveness faster than massed Tanks do.
Try a game with 4 dedicated tankers and 4 dedicated AV players, you'll see that those AV players can keep the tanks from ever becoming significantly effective.
A swarm launcher or just a plasma cannon is not AV, you need 1 plus AV nades. (swarms are broken currently which is a separate issue)
Running forge without AV nades is also foolish |

Imagine that depot now matter for tanker:
You can't recall outside the Depot area, so now supply depot are to an easy +100 wp but are important. With this also have ammo count, 'cause you can't recall you tank and bring a full ammo. That mean that or you defend the depot in battle area or you are going deep in base, leaving the battle for enough time to give infantry a breathe.
For AV that mean that they have for sure a place where you must go. That mean ambush and traps on the road to the depot. With that having INF support for a tank become useful.
Many issue needed a look into: Swarms where too powerful for a fire and forget weapon, auto-seeking AV nade where an issue too. But you can't buff a thing and in the same time nerf the other. That become a double buff.

No you shouldn't be a prick when they finally give you what you want.
CCP has had some major changes since 1.7, and I'm sure they don't live entirely for the benefit of this community (I wouldn't if I was treated the way these guys are). Developing Dust is a job, and it is probably a lot harder than we give CCP credit for.
Think about it like this: Remember when you were in college or university and you had a job as a bartender or worked in some kind of grocery or convenience store? Remember those customers that came in and gave you **** because you didn't have what they wanted right then and there? Remember how that made you feel?

CCP just need to take a few lessons from DICE / Battlefield 4 when it comes to vehicle balance. The balance is in the skill of the driver and his ability to perceive threats and use countermeasures accordingly.
In BF4 a tank can still roll all over the battlefield getting lots of kills but it still only takes one smart person to take that tank out.
CCP should say 1 of 2 things.
1. "Ok players we are making tanks easier to kill but there price will be vastly reduced to compensate, we are reworking a few things yadda yadda - THINK BATTLEFIELD in terms of how tanks die a lot"
2. "Ok players this is the ~EVE~ universe so some vehicles will be pimped out and very hard to kill, however the price will go up drastically and we will re-do tanks so that while they are so so strong they are no where near as offensive as they are currently"

I've killed tanks with LAVs I've seen tanks killed with ADS I've killed tanks with other tanks I've killed tanks with swarms, proximity explosives and jihad jeeps. I've seen double forge gun teams rip tanks apart the lot of you are just running into unfortunate circumstances where the enemy team has a squad of tankers and your team doesn't.
If everyone wouldn't have been chasing FOTM in 1.7 then you would have more AVers on the field but no everyone is chasing KD/R and Sp. Its not impossible to Solo a tank in 1.8 I do it all the time. One day i decided to squad up with 1 other person who had demolition skills i destroyed 11 vehicles in that match killing 1 tanker 3 times in a row. |

Tanks should either be 1) Reletively simple destroy/suppress/deny or 2) Indestructible but with limited firepower
Now you can say you do it all the time, but I can also say I speak swahili. Spkr4thedead tried convincing me infantry AV was fine, with a HAV railgun.
I don't want AV god mode, Im just sick and tired of the current god mod tankers are trying to tell me doesn't exsist. It's all well and good saying "you've been unlucky" but when so many people on the forums are saying the same thing, its not luck its maths.

It's all well and good saying "you've been unlucky" but when so many people on the forums are saying the same thing, its not luck its maths.
I don't want to get into it about a game I dont play anymore but games are still won by uplink spam and capping points I'm guessing? A tank does neither.

Most tanks are fine as they are, I have had tankers shitting bricks when they see me on the field they would rather hop out of the tank to gun me down then to come after me. Here are the problems with tanks Railguns are OP and Militia tanks are too effective if militia tanks were solo'ed then I'm ok with that maddys and gunnlogis though should take teamwork. You all want your God Mode solo tanking abilities of 1.6 back but its not going to happen. I've killed tanks with LAVs I've seen tanks killed with ADS I've killed tanks with other tanks I've killed tanks with swarms, proximity explosives and jihad jeeps. I've seen double forge gun teams rip tanks apart the lot of you are just running into unfortunate circumstances where the enemy team has a squad of tankers and your team doesn't. If everyone wouldn't have been chasing FOTM in 1.7 then you would have more AVers on the field but no everyone is chasing KD/R and Sp. Its not impossible to Solo a tank in 1.8 I do it all the time. One day i decided to squad up with 1 other person who had demolition skills i destroyed 11 vehicles in that match killing 1 tanker 3 times in a row. I'm not saying its impossible to solo a tank, infact its real easy, if reverse towards you with his hardners off, but then again how often does that happen. The point your missing, the point that has been at the heart of this discussion since the dawn of time. Your one man in a tank, what permits you as one man to be worth more than your infantry counterparts?You can't say price anymore, the price is right the strength is not. Nah the tanks just camp the points, then 1 infantry guy caps it. The only maps where tanks don't guarantee a win are urban maps, of which there are about 3 and that's only on skirmish. Dom amd Ambush are won with tanks no matter the map.
Unless your a Computer Scientist don't tell me how Game Mechanics Work.

Heh, try more like we are complaining about proto swarms doing nothing to an std tank. But you do raise a good question why should a hardener grant you invincibility?
