It seems sanctions are kicking in now and i would like to know CCP,s stance on this i believe this is the first time any mmo company could be faceing this problem and from a political neutral view point whats going to happen here its not somthing we can pretend is not happening
A sudden removal of players could quickly change the landscape.
To our Russia players any thoughts i would like to hear the othersides view on this.

It's already *sort* of affected Eve. There are certain groups that tend to form around languages. The shared communication and lack of options for joining other alliances makes the members very loyal, and very difficult to infiltrate. It's that degree of unity that always made it a bad idea to venture into the dronelands to poke the Russians.
Recently one of the more well known Russian speaking alliances fell apart, which had a large number of Ukranians in it. It has since been denied, but initial rumor was that they split up over political arguments on their internal forums. No way to really know if it's true, but I wouldn't be surprised. |

The connect is Russia tanks flying into the Ukraine means a lot of angry players taking it out on Russia players you cant pretend their not connected if EU and US governments tell sony and ccp no business with Russia thats a huge impact in a lot of games

Anyway, I think war rhetorics and sanctions are not leading anywhere except more conflict.
We should try to communicate more not less...
But I expect the exact opposite in here, since most people seem to enjoy shooting at things, so they might enjoy seeing real world conflict without really getting the consequences for the people in Ukraine...

For those who care to learn a bit before making braindead comments on it, here's some basic info on the situation:
Crimea is part of Ukraine which used to be a part of Russia. Crimea has been a largely pro-Russian area of the Ukraine for some years now. It's not like Russia is invading Ireland or anything, they were annexing Crimea to get the Ukrainian military out of it so that Crimea could become a part of Russia again. As of right now, Putin is insisting that they have no intentions to further hassle Ukraine.
On the flip side, this action was brash and violated several international laws. Russia did something similar years ago with Georgia (the country, not the state), but I really don't recall what happened with that.... it kinda got fogged out with all of our stupid war bullshit over here in the US. Our news pretty much stopped covering it and we lost interest. Anyway, they pretty much got away with hitting Georgia. That means the international community is taking this latest action very seriously.
And that is a VERY basic rundown of the situation. Now, people, please learn about the topic before you post on it....

Still, it just seems wrong to me that we can tell them what they can do with their military bases in places that are their backyard when we would never stand for another country doing the same to us.

What's the difference between invading it and invading Ireland? Ukraine is a sovereign country and has a treaty with Russia.
Russia has no place in Crimea beyond what the treaty allows and Ukrainians have already been killed. It's an invasion.

The sanctions currently in place and the only ones likely to happen are against individuals in Russia and certain companies. Sanctions on the level of "no company may do business with Russian citizens" are not going to happen. Currently a list of people and I believe 1 bank are not allowed to conduct transactions in US Dollars. Those people are also denied visas and therefore are not allowed to travel to places controlled by those imposing the sanctions.
Nobody is going anywhere due to sanctions because even the more large sweeping sanctions are far more focused at preventing Russian companies from interacting with other countries. The Russian individual having direct contact with external companies is not going to be sanctioned against and simply will not happen. |

Was just about to point this out, you saved me the trouble, thanks ;).
Also, to the OP: International sanctions tend to be decided on a government level, not by individuals or companies. There's no reason for CCP (the corporate entity) to have a stance on this matter. |

Russia has every right to be in Crimea. Russian majority, strong cultural ties, and the Crimeans even overwhelmingly voted to be annexed by Russia.
Western propoganda is nothing but Western propoganda. Take a look at some videos of what really happened during the riots in Kiev, Ukraine. Riot police forming defensive lines while the protestors throw Molotov cocktails at them, beat them with clubs and metal poles, even threatening to run a bulldozer through one police line. They were even destroying the roads to use their bricks as projectiles to throw at the riot police.
Are these protestors civilized people we want in a newly installed government? And don't forget that this was a coup d'+¬tat which is technically illegal under the UN charter and the new government is a "government of the victors," not a democratically chosen government. Russian people in Ukraine have every right to ask Russia for help.
And the West has absolutely no right to tell Russia otherwise.

a fun strategy i heard: start putting some of the strategic oil reserve onto the market gas prices get cheaper for everyone, and the collective price drop really hurts russia's economy (up to 10% of its gpd, which is massive) and considering how huge the SOR is, we could keep this up for 14 years, YEARS |

Felt the fourms needed liveing up :-P. But good points Russia inviaded crimera and beat the crap out of anyone who disagreed this is a fact, live video proof is all over the net. They could have just forced a peacefull vote but instead they moved troops in. Thats the facts not propaganda.
Last time i checked the US didnt annex country's they just invaded to remove a treat. I dont blame russia for defending their intrests but their intrests pretty much bulling the rest of the world their empire building end of.
But thats not the point here the point is how are Russia players going to be affected is locking any corp out of PC just because they have Russia players breaking any rules ad im sure more than one Ukraine player would love the chance.
Last point ita easy to point the figure when the tanks are not on your border and nut jobs are not romming the streets threating you to vote a certain way... Or as on the guardian this morning beating up a TV presenter.

Well, I have read some amazing article about this. Basically, America is always trying to beat Russia one way or another. And it has a very interesting way of doing it. CIA funded Alkaida, and many other coups. You know why? Because... China. Let me explain. Syberia has some awesome resources that China needs. They are very resource dependent and they suck them up like a sponge. So America is slowly making their way towards Russia, by placing their military bases closer and closer, and trying to deny Russia anything that they can without causing a **** storm.
Now ,every time China was close to acquiring something useful, some stuff would happen that would not allow them to get the resources. They are starting to get desperate and that is exactly what US wants - for China to start looking into Syberia, since it's so incredibly close and has ALL the stuff they need.
USA was trying to get rid of Russia's power for tens of years now. Does it seem brutal? Yes. But I approve. My countryr (Poland) is close to Russia. They were always affecting my country one way or another. A lot of people don't know how crazy the russians are, how horrible. My girlfriend's grand grand mother told her an interesting story from the WWII. We were pretty much occupied by both Germany and Russia, and what that old lady said was that when Germans were coming to her farm, they would always be clean, washed, smelled good and were polite. Now, when Russians used to come to the farm, they'd be absolutely filthy, smelled like ****, did not even ask for permission to take anything from the farm and they were abusive. This is a good example of how the whole Russia treats other people. This country is a mess, in a huge debt and is one big mafia.
Russia should never be in power of anything. They will destroy it, suck it out of all the money and profits so a couple of politicians can stuff their wallets. They were ruthless during Stalin's rule, they were ruthless before that, and they are known for stuffing their citizens throats with propaganda.
Some of you have no idea how **** that country is. I wish I didn't have to live near it. We grow up reading books about Russification (occupation where we can't speak another language other than Russian, where the intelligent Polish people were often killed to try and make the country dumber), gulags, Katyn disaster and so on. They have a history of being liars, backstabbers, filthy alcoholics that HAVE TO BE STOPPED one way or another.
So, even though America is doing something very mean and I do not fully approve, I think it is necessary to finally start getting rid of the evil. |
