God I miss the closed beta.
They took away the simple things that made it feel FAR more immerse than current DUST.
I could list the ways how we Amarr are better than you, but your lesser mind wouldn't comprehend it.

The landscape and game mode, yes.
Everything else? NO. It sucked. I was there and I had to endure the glaring issues that I already mentioned a couple of pages back. And don't get me started on the sliding uplinks, dying while falling only 2 inches, having your sprint constantly interrupted every 5 feet by a pebble, suffering dropships that literally crushed you every 10 seconds, etc.
I don't care what anyone says. Besides Skirmish 1.0 which was awesome, everything else from Replication to the E3 2012 build (pre-Codex) was just bad.

Loved the game mode it is still my favourite part of the closed beta.
There was definetly some good things during that time but I would be lying if didn't say that there was some bloody annoying stuff as well.
Glad I was a part of it.

If ccp would have listened to us dust might be great now but the blame isn't within the Eve players but others that wanted this to be more like cod..which is not what we wanted at all..judging by the ttk we're at now the cod boys one..you are also correct this game takes nearly no skill now, who ever shoots first usually wins unless you're a heavy. Strafing doesn't matter anymore, that might be cuz the auto aim bs but idk for sure.

Hehe, I thought games were supposed to IMPROVE after leaving the beta stage, not turn into something worse.
The Dust I see in the video looked and sounded awesome (apparently the first team of developers knew that gunshots +äre supposed to be LOUD!). The current Dust seems like a mediocre poor excuse in comparison. |

Unlike now, where getting hit by an HMG is affecting you as much as getting hit by a puny rapid firing BB-gun.
Seriously, what the hell are the devs thinking when they REMOVE awesome sound effects and interesting mechanics in favor of something shittier by comparison? |

My guess is that this is pure nostalgia at work here. I too find the Gamemode and Map and Sounds fascinating. But I think that, if we would move back to this state of things now, in a few months everyone would be tired of it, like everyone is tired of the momentary state. Then someone would post a thread: Look how cool was this in March 2014? Want this back NOW!
What I would appreciate being implemented:
1. New (old) Gamemode. 2. New (old) infantry boardable Turrets (cool little stronghold :D) 3. New (old) Map.
But thats just starving for new content. I would applaud ANY new content. |

Swarms were the FOTM when they were dumbfire. As such, that ability was promptly removed. Fun fact: CCP handled the swarm launcher room clearing issue by removing BOTH the dumb fire AND the swarm missiles ability hurt infantry. Why the both? No one can tell a good reason. (EDIT: may be true that dumb fire was removed later on, I have vague memory of dumb firing tanks between Line Harvest warehouses.)
Swarm launchers can still kill infantry... trust me, I've killed teammates as they threw RE on a tank

The Call-of-Duty-Easy-Mode fanbois won with all their complaining. Us Eve Online players tried our best to stop them from ruining the game but we lost. Now let's hope CCP Rouge shook things up enough to bring us back to the good old days of awesome gameplay and boundless potential.

Rouge had to deal with battlefield EA players he knows fourms and shooter fans give garabage feedback i doubt if he is who i think he is ever encouter the wrong feedback getting through the mob will more likely be used as a pain map rather than feedback

Wow. It is amazing how much I forgot about. Lots of things I liked in that video. Few things not so much. I always preferred the new AR sound to the old, and I do not miss that scope.
But other sounds were good, the music was a cool feature that I totally forgot about. And that HUD!! Way better than what we have now. I hate the current mini-map. Loved some of the old animations, the hit markers and of course that female voice.
As far as TTK goes, it might have been a little much back in day. But I look forward to trying to reach a happy medium. Tired of the 'paper Merc' gameplay we have now. |
