Take a bit of your time and watch this all the way through. Forget the sub-par graphics and the occasional frame-drop, and just look at things like how the character moves, the way the HUD responds to movement, and how the weapons look as they fire.
Also take some time to listen to the sound of your character's movement, and the sound of the weapons and other aspects of the environment.
In the case of these elements, the love we profess is NOT just nostalgia. Look at this footage and tell me that many aspects of it aren't better than what we have now.

Replication definitely took the most skill to play and it was great when 1 person could hold off an entire team on the alpha ridge.

I agree and disagree with Protoman. If ccp would have listened to us dust might be great now but the blame isn't within the Eve players but others that wanted this to be more like cod..which is not what we wanted at all..judging by the ttk we're at now the cod boys one..you are also correct this game takes nearly no skill now, who ever shoots first usually wins unless you're a heavy. Strafing doesn't matter anymore, that might be cuz the auto aim bs but idk for sure.

The faster your weapon fires, the more this effect slows them down. This is why an HMG hitting you will almost stop you dead even if you're sprinting at full speed.
Eh makes since..I guess if I was shot I wouldn't be moving very fast either..
