Just so you know how I'm going to play this: - Join matches and look at the attending players. - Leave match if no known pubstomping corp is on the friendly side. - Deploy if known pubstompers are available. Destroy a turret, shoot some fools in MLT suits who didn't see the pubstomp coming and afk when there's only snipers left.
Otherwise thanks for making an interesting event. I don't get the lore implication, but I definitely like having goals do work towards. Even if I only play like 15 games a week normally, so I'll likely not get any rewards at all. |

I really like that the event is requiring people to actually attempt to win battles. At least this will keep people from Event AFKing.
OTOH, that's a ton of games to have to play for very little reward. 30 matches in a week, IMO, is pretty crazy. That's like a minimum of 10+ hours of playing Dust 514 over the course of the week just to get some items most people probably can't even use.
This is cool for a small minority of players who already play this game a ton every week anyway, but it seems like they'd be better served just, say, upping the salvage amounts for wins or something so everyone who plays has an incentive to play a bit more and try to actually win matches.

Actually, that's the beauty of Blue Prints. Even a player straight out of the academy can use them without having to meet a skill requirement (as long as they can fit them). Most of the rewards for this event are Blue Print Copies (BPCs) which, while not having the benefit of providing unlimited use that comes with Blue Print Originals (BPOs), still allow anyone to use them even if they have a high meta level.
I think rewarding players with BPCs is a great way of giving newer players the ability to "test out" the higher level weapons, on a limited basis, while still making decisions about what they would like to skill into. I just think the BPC rewards need to be valuable / unique enough to incentivize veterans as well, and the rewards for this event fail to do that.
Some feedback for CCP:
As someone who is not very familiar with the EVE universe and terminology, it was not immediately clear to me what the difference was between BPOs and BPCs, so I had to educate myself. It is probably best to assume many of the players reading Dust 514 Dev Blogs may not be familiar with terminology that is ubiquitous on the EVE side, so you may want to explain things like this in more detail. |

Since you have to win just under half of your first 30 matches, people will be trying their damned best to make sure they win. Which means:
Protosuits Mass Drivers Grenade spam Oceanic protostomps
The people who don't have the skills for protosuits yet will be screwed for this very reason, and I believe fights will be very one-sided since the matchmaking is still bad in this game, not to mention pretty much no segregation between high SP and low SP players outside the academy. Remember that if you don't meet the requirement for tier I rewards, you can go for tier II and get both tier I and II rewards. This means if you play 50 matches a week, an average of 7-8 matches a day and win 21 of those matches, you will get rewards from all three tiers! You don't have to be Rambo to win 21 out of 50 matches, so the goals for this event are very reasonable.
However personally I feel like events shouldn't be challenge based. I mean people will already be playing the game, afking or not, the goal of event should be to get EVE and Dust players to care about what one another are doing, or atleast caring about the lore of the game.
Think of the events you have run. Why was caldari prime widely hailed as the best event of them all? because it meant something, there were no challenges or conditions, players fought in this much larger war, you crashed a titan for us, you changed maps for us. The rewards were pretty bog standard but that didn't matter.
Why not have an event where players can sign on to a team/ faction, fight during the event for that team, and when the end of the event rolls around you release who won, the stats for all the players to see, and unique BPC's to players who signed on for each team. |

So, thanks for all the comments, yes, even from you trolls because even your rants provide useful information and I'll be seeing you on the battlefields of New Eden soon.
If you think negative feedback/opinions are trolling you have a lot to learn about the internet. Not all frustrated people are great at coherently and calmly explaining what pisses them off.
Show sincere concern about why people feel the way they do and the people that feel the same as the "trolls" but are able to calmly explain what irks them will come out of the woodwork. Good constructive feedback will be had.
Treat people like villians that deserve to be mocked and you won't make any friends or gain much respect from anybody but white knights. White Knights do nothing but praise; meaning nothing needs to be improved since everything is "perfect".
A LOT of people arebitter over the fanfest fiasco, and rightly so. Okay, you guys are improving, but we haven't really seen a large improvement like the large step back we saw with Uprising.

I wouldn't go that far; There are a lot of people here who, after seeing this event, was completely "let down" and dissatisfied that this is all we have to look forward to while preparing to jump into 1.4. Maybe people like us expect too much from something that can only do so little... |

You don't have to be Rambo to win 21 out of 50 matches, so the goals for this event are very reasonable. Not sure of the need to increase complexity of these events when you have no tracking. Make it simpler, no 42% here, 45% there at tier this or tier that. Is it asking too much to say just win 20 matches and get xx items, win 30 matches get xx items. They stack, I don't have to worry about leaving a game wasting my time to try to get the magic % of win/lose or figuring out I lost too many game for tier one so I have to win xx to get tier 2 rewards thus also unlock tier 1. From one programmer to another, simple just works best. "Make it so, Number One"
I totally agree simple is good. But the danger is making events too simple. Then people say it's not fun. The Human Endurance event was pretty simple, but then players complained that it was too much grind. Other feedback on previous events also mentioned that multiple goals in a single event will help motivate people to keep playing instead of stopping after reaching a single goal.
Not being able to track progress is something we are working on addressing. In the next patch, you will see the first step towards that. I won't spoil it but you'll be able to read what it is tomorrow when the patch notes go out. |

events should honestly make the game feel different bring us out of our normal shell, in this case it's going to make us care about our win loss ratio, but I just find it hard to get motivated for those bpc's...
might be different if the market was in and we could trade them, or if they were officer grade equipment maybe...
end of the day I think i'd of prefered to see this most coincide with the release of a new game mode and then allow players to get said reward by playing said game mode. It would be nice if it was officer and proto gear for the rewards. |

Correct, first event week CCP contributes nothing to the event. Problems are the same and in many situations yesterday it got worse.
I do not complain the prices but CCP do not integrate win/loss related patches. Players came to terms with the bad situation in the past. At the moment CCP only experimenting with players game style and behavior. All the work is done by the players. The good and the bad way.

Ok. This event sucks so hard. And I really mean the event. Not the rewards. Because the event itself is almost impossible. I keep track of my matches and I win maybe 20 -25 percent because I have just bad luck. For every win I have 4 losses because my team just sucks or the enemy has a corp squad. Nothing I can do about that. I can only join the next match and hope that I win. Getting 42 - 48% wins? Impossible. The only behaviour this event encourages is: Joining a battle. Waiting for a few minutes to see if your team is winning and then start getting WP. Because there is no other way to get 42 - 48% wins. I doubt that this is what you intended.
Really. For the next events I would like to see some objectives I can actually influence by myself. No objectives where I have to hope that I get 15 decent blueberries on my side and 16 bad players on the other side. Very often I'm the best player regarding WP in the whole match but I won't get anything from the event because I just have bad luck with my team. |

This is the worst event that Dust has every seen....and I thought the Templar one was moronic! (I never even saw a templar in battle on either side the whole week.)
Instead of making people want to get out and play, it has the exact opposite. The blueberries are now too scared to go out and loose. I've played some of my best games ever and it still doesn't matter if there are 5 blueberries on the field.
At this point I'm just going to AFK through the next 2 weeks as it's better than playing like this. |

According to CPM Iron Wolf Saber leaving a match or even the warbarge before the battles starts and having earned no WP counts as a loss which runs counter to what people in this very thread are saying
I would like this to be confirmed by a CCP employee in public to put any he said she said to rest and would also like to ask why this was not made perfectly clear before since in the blog announcing this event there are a few contradictory statements
Also update the frakking in game news page when you log in, its ridiculous that theres an event but no in game announcement and many people Ive run into in local chat have no idea an event is even going on |

I dont believe this event is very fair, it relies too heavily on a dice roll of getting nothing but blue berries on your team. Some of us have no choice but to run solo and thus get stuck on useless teams full of gits.
Im in 12 invite only chatrooms myself and no one is online that I know during my current playtime. 1am - 6am EST. It should be based on WPs per match instead of W/L.
Im still easily clearing 1000 WPs a match if not 1500 even on the loosing side when every other blue berry gets 200 or so. Its bloody stupid. |

Iron Wolf Saber wrote:Magnus Amadeuss wrote:Iron Wolf Saber wrote:Silas Swakhammer wrote:I would like an update on this. I was under the impression that matches where I score less than 100 WPs did not count towards this event, win or lose.
If what IWS says is true- "If you scored less than 100 WPs and your team won, they won despite you." "If you scored less than 100 WPs and your team lost, they lost because of you."
This is beginning to feel like another mishandled DUST event. All matches count, if you fail to get 100 wp in a victory its counted as a non-win and against you. aka afking this event won't work as well So if you get entered into a battle the moment before it is lost the game counts against you? I really doubt that. Unfortunately yes... I would like to suggest to have a 'no count' for joining a match with like oh say 1 minute let on ambush or 10% clones left.
I would like clarification as well. I have entered at least 3+ matches where it was either on the Defeat Screen or when my team had less than 10-15% armour while the opposing team still had 80% of their shield.
The win conditions for this event are completely reliant on the match making system and it has been set up with multiple ways to loose but only one way to win.
Based on what IWS has said the loose conditions are as follows:
1. Your side wins but you did not get 100 WP - This counts as a loss for you personally. 2. Your side looses but you did not score 100 WP - you loose 3. Your side looses but you did score 100 WP or more - you loose 4. You spawn onto the wrong side of a pub stomp late into the game - you loose 5. You spawn onto the defeat screen - you loose 6. You get to the war barge see a decent corp squad or 2 on the otherside and leave. You select a new battle and get spawned into that match anyway - so you loose.
Win Criteria
1. Join match, early or late, your side wins and you get 100 WP - you win.
All matches, the 1st 30-40-50, are counted regardless of your actions.
From the Event FAQ
If I play more than the minimum number of matches, which ones are counted for the event? Only the win/loss rate of the week's first 30, 40 and 50 matches [U]in which you earn at least 100 war points during the event will be considered for the purpose of qualifying for the event rewards
I also interpreted this to mean that only matches where you scored 100 WPs or more counted. |

If there is, please let me know Dusters.
If not, please think about adding enough information to track event results.
