Your reasoning is incredibly flimsy and anecdotal. Swarms are still useful as additional AV and can solo careless vehicles. The range buff isn't needed.

Boosting is the only legitimate reason. But it is also very corner case. All it takes to bleed someone out is a flux grenade at their corpse. If the other team/squad/one friend is able to keep you away, that Logi should be able to keep them up.
