CCP needs to put Dust on PC and just forget about the console platform. I love CCP and i quit this game makes no sense. Video games are meant to be fun when did it turn into a job?
The grinding got to me i have 10 mill SP and im bored respecs would make the game fresh and fun. It will also help CCP with constant tweaks.
If they break something no biggie i could just respec into something else.
So true... hot fixes, client patches, etc all so easy on the PC.
You could take advantage of the platform to bring updated graphics and 32v32 gameplay to the universe. (and have more than 512MB of shared RAM lulz).
The UI would work so much better with a mouse.
Want real connectivity with eve? Most of them run third party voice chat and don't want to chat using our in game system (which team chat doesn't even let you talk to pilots!)
Could finally have true m/kb support... imagine if modules.equipment could be bound to 1-2-3-4?

You're right, we should go play PS2 for a while and come back.... maybe.
On a serious note, whether or not PS2 engage in the same practice it has no bearing on whether or not it is right for Dust 514. I think most players don't mind things being tweaked but CCP have made sweeping changes without much warning and have never clarified the respec policy.
If they just came out tomorrow and said, "From now on we will only be offering SP for individual skills when those skills or core items associated with those skills are directly changed." then things wouldn't be so bad. As usual, it's a complete breakdown of communications that is at the heart of the issues with player-dev relations. |

I wouldn't mind having some way to reallocate SP. I never really cared before, I did enjoy building my toon twice in different ways just to do something new.
My example right now: Had to take a couple weeks off from the game for work, But got a call from my brother and he wanted to come back and get some games in. His role was pretty much completely removed from the last time he played and was pretty upset, but had some passive SP to play with.
I was pretty excited also, I should have some SP to switch to a different weapon and we can "rebuild" our combo back together. Nope I was stuck using the same gun/suit i have been using for months/ or grind/ or pay real money.
The resurgence didn't last more than a couple hours, I will wait a few more days until I have the passive to get what i wanted.
-If you were wondering about details, Bro was a %100 Lav/Av driver. He doesnt have alot of SP , and rarely gets over 500wp for doing so. (unless there are alot of enemy LAV's for him to clean up. I use a gal logi and a Viziam. Fun combo and I have 12m SP perfecting this setup. Was looking to skill into the Assault scrambler so i could be a bit more versatile on the battle field while min-maxing with my brothers Mass driver. |

The only issue is that the respect system really has to be automated (and that would mean coding), so that it doesn't eat up a HUGE chunk of resources in dealing with the respects by hand.
I know a lot of people want to point their fingers at Cal Logis and go "HA HA", but quite frankly there is no reason to punish players for using the resources given to them to the best of their ability. It's so important that we move forward together as a community to improve this game.
For me that means Devs communicating to the community changes that they plan BEFORE they are locked in and giving those optional respecs (character or skill specific) to allow both the developers and the community the freedom to test and find the game balance that we are all looking for. Yep i feel no pity for people that skilled into the tar after finding out about its incredible advantages. I am betting a lot of people also went out and spent money to have controllers modded too. I dont feel bad for them either. |

I would figure that would be essential once the other Light and Heavy frame are released, since everyone has had to go Amarr just to play Heavies, or Gallente or Minmatar to play Light. The same goes for all races when it comes to only having Caldari and Gallente vehicles as well.
The only issue I could ever see would have been with offering a purchasable respec system, especially if it was only available via AURUM purchase. I don't think any of us want to see a game where you can just spam respec tokens so you don't ever have to put any thought into your skill decisions, or that you can pay to fix mistakes that free players can't. |

I do not however place all my SP into a suit that doesn't compliment my combat style, as I know the logi suits are made for logistics, not frontline combat. I am also happy with my choice as it is what I wanted to play, not because it had a bonus I thought would give me an edge, that's what modules are for.
A note to everyone - please specialize into what play style suits you. Do not spec into something so you can stack bonuses, as it will only cause you grief when CCP eventually balances it to reflect its intended usage. This game is still going through growth spurts and will change as a result. |

That not fair at all. A lot of people specced into logi suits due to their versatility. We all specced into a suit based on the stats and slots it had, as it suited our playstyle.
Just because YOU think that logis aren't supposed to be frontline combatants doesn't mean that they weren't.
Now CCP has stated with their new blog that was their intention for these suits. If they want to change the suits... that's totally fine. However, since those suits are no longer what people put their SP into, they should have that SP refunded so they can spec into a new suit that actually does fit their playstyle. |

If there are no more respecs I hope 3/4 of the population leaves, this game does not deserves any loyalty anymore. I do think that changing the game mid stride is damaging to player morale. If the changes have changed the role completely, then yeah, thats not fair. I see this game as still in beta, as CCP is dragging its feet. I dont want to see people leave due to the fact that a company hasnt tested what they have released, and im sure youve done enough testing already. I too have experienced some unwanted changes that affected my suits, but i kept those to see if the new changes would affect my role. Logistics is probably the most important role in military functions, but the definition of logistics is more along the lines of resource managment and support, rather than frontline combat. This isnt my opinion, this is the historical use of the the term since the 'War of Independence'. I dont blame you for choosing something you found appealing, i blame CCP for calling a rooster a chicken. id rather you get the respec so you dont leave, instead of leaving you locked into something you dont find fun. I have a nub question, what was change that affects the fitting so much that youd be willing to leave? |

Looking at this it looks like the bonus is actually awesome. It means that you'll have a 25% reduction to shiled recharge delay with lvl 5 into the Cal Logi suit. Combine this with a complex regulator and you'll have a whopping 50% reduction(not including extra regulators with stack penalties). Based of the new stats, that'll be a 2.5/4 second recharge delay. Not bad. I see that it would require a whole new investment (if you dont have regulators), but that doesnt mean you cant still use those complex extenders either. A CPU enhancer will more tham make up for the loss of 20 CPU and allow you to fit better modules in all those slots. Id like to see anyone use this setup and post some feedback about it if they already have it. Also looks like CCP will be doing smaller more rapid updates so we dont have to wait so long for changes. Damn, 2.5/4 is really good, compared to my 5/8. |

They aren't additive, its 25% of the 25%.
At regulation 5 its .25*1.1*1.25 = 34.3% per complex regulator. |

Lame, so even the bonus from the suit only gives the bonus to the regulator percentage?? that kinda SUCKS. It would seem that the suits bonus should be a direct bonus to the shield reg percentage as in 'addition to'. 25% of the regulator bonus(25%), like you said doesnt do much(under 10%, which is very misleading, as people will think they are getting an additive bonus). I guess the main difference too is that the shield extender is a numerical value, meaning 5% extra shields per level, whereas the regulator is a percentage bonus. |

Two complex regulators with the new bonus will give you only very slightly better delay. And remember, at standard you can only fit one (with equipment)...and you have to fit a CPU mod to be able to use it! FUBAR

You cant even do that, pre nerf at Level 2 dropsuit engineering and electronics it takes 2 cpu extenders and 2 PG upgrades to equip 5 complex shield extenders, a duvolle, a proto nanohive, a proto uplink, proto nades and an adv nanite injector. What this nerf of shield tanking does is require the 5 complex extenders to have good health, regulators to make use of the bonus AND cpu extenders to make it possible, this leaves no room for other modules and virtually no room for equipment. They basically said "Ok Your versatility is gone, your module layout is this, and you can't equip good equipment while you do it." In other words? Its a slow, gimped caldari assaul suit now, or a garbage shield logi suit.

The problem with respecs is it will make everyone flock to the FOTM and reduce diversity. Im not running logi, im not running flaylocks. Why? Because I know both these things are clearly broken and will be nerfed. Everyone knew that. So if you put your sp into something everyone knew would eventually be nerfed, you were "renting" a short term advantage.
Id prefer it this way, where players with half a brain realize that investing in the OP stuff will likely cost them down the road. I could have put my 3x SP into core flaylocks. I would be reaping the rewards right now. But then a month down the road id be all sad that core flaylocks were nerfed and I wasted 700ksp.
Anyone who wanted to play front line pew-pew and saw the Logi OP and went that route kind of deserves the payback now. It was obvious that Logi was better at doing the assualt role than the assault and that it wouldnt last. Should have used your head and realized that. Or, if you did, you should have known youd be renting an advantage with your SP until it got nerfed. |
