I just played a few matches using only Starter Fits. I have not spent 1 single skill point on AR. Still did ridiculously good in all of the matches I played tonight except 1.

Keep nerfing the AR and breaking the game. AR actually needs a lot of buffs to make it just feel like a real weapon and not some toy. To do this other guns needs buffs as well to keep up and be real weapons. (Don't expect all guns to be equal it just won't happen and in some cases shouldn't happen.)

CCP said we needed more HP for Uprising and then they said they had to give more weapon damage because we had too much HP. They simply have no clue what they are doing. |

Armies in general through history rely on a standard weapon. In Dust, it is the AR. Specialty weapons offer advantages and disadvantages over this baseline and are utilized in a situational manner in support of unit requirements.

I have done quite well using just the basic Scrambler rifle, with only one single point invested. Must be OP.
I have the topped the killboard with just the militia SMG as a scout (with zero SP invested into SMGs), therefor SMGs are OP.
I have also been quite successful with just the militia shotty (while not having enought SP to even unlock the ability to purchase a shotgun skillbook), and have done well in all matches, save a few. Nerf Shotguns. |

Yes.
That was the problem when they killed the Tac rifles (which did need to be pulled back a bit, instead they got the ******* nerf hammer). They took the only gun in the game really worth using, and instead of pulling up everything, and pulling that back just an inch, to be fair in that way, they knocked it down to meet the other totally useless gun standards.
It's like they're trying to carve out what everyone expects to be Michelangelo's David, but instead of using a chisel they're using a sledge hammer. |

When you say the TAR was "the only gun in the game really worth using", you say it because it required a shorter TTK right? Well longer TTK's is specifically what we're going for here. Sorry to break the news to you. This is supposed to be a strafe shooter, bad hit detection and aiming ruin that, but it's what it's supposed to be. |

I think you're unfamiliar with how a fun game works.
Shooting entire magazines at each other while hopping around before running away to reload = not fun = bad game
Seeing enemies at what, in other better games, would be considered a short distance and not being able to hit them = not fun = bad game
The TTK of a Logi LAV to the TTK of a packed AV grenade? = inbalanced; not fun = bad game
I've been playing this for a while now. The TTK before the 'full release' or whatever was fine. The weapons were more or less balanced sans a few tweeks, not full fledged nerf hammerings. The ranges of the weapons were balanced, especially given that the maps of this game largely consist of vast, empty fields.
If you think the TTK right now is fine or needs to be longer or something, then maybe all of the weapons need double ammo. Kind of like how the vehicles for some reason got double health. But currently its more of a hit detection/aiming problem.
The main buff that all of the weapons currently need is in the form of range. I can't tell you how often I get shot at, take a few steps backwards and am magically out of the range of the person who was just ******* me up. Its so God damn silly.

Just pointing out that you saying that some weapon is "the only weapon in the game worth using" does imply there is a problem in regards to balance.
Obviously we don't want CoD level TKKs, but overly long TKKs are also a problem. |
