CCP reps can always impress if they fix the draw distance in the game so enemies are always rendered and don't spontaneously disappear. Make it so there isn't 1 suit to rule them all. Make the tac rifle not the only rifle in the game. Oh and new additions; insta death nades that detonate on contact! fun! Wait I have to restart over and over because my dust client fails. |

In fairness Raivi and Kil2 were good additions as designers. They know their stuff. Mintchip OTOH ...... I guess if you need a forum mod would do, but I never saw her in any leadship or authority capacity in EVE. As such I am not sure what her addition brings to the table, unless it is purely community facing and design decisions are not anywhere in her wheelhouse. Maybe CCP just wants more girls to calm down the angry dudes?

Funny, I would never pick game designers or core developers to do the work of a community rep. Not only are their skills needed elsewhere but they'd no doubt suck at it -- different tasks require different skill sets and personalities. To me, running a successful blog on a relevant topic actually suggests the person is qualified for the community rep role (I'd hesitate to hire a lead game designer on that merit alone, or a stonemason, or...). |

I only know Mintchip by her somewhat scandalous reputation Eve-side, so I'm not really in a position to form an opinion just yet.
However, what you guys need to consider is that what you have seen of her in the past is simply an e-persona, and not something that indicates how she may or may not be in real life.
I can only hope she knew what she was getting herself into when she accepted the job. If she did, she's either going to be very good, or very bad for Dust. Though, I'm not sure that being bad for Dust will really mean anything.
After all, it's going to be pretty damn hard for anything to be worse than what we've had for the past year. Just saying. The only place CCP can go from rock bottom... is up. (Or stay down there, because it's cozy or something?)
I wish Mintchip all the best and look forward to seeing what she does. |

If a customer who insulted one of my co-workers or subordinates personally "accidentally" had one of their orders messed up or their account completely erased, I wouldn't put a priority on investigating what happened, and I respect the fact that others may take such tact in dealing with this particular situation.

I had a rule when I was managing a retail store - a customer could make legitimate complaints about the service and store itself, but as soon as they started insulting my staff they were immediately issued with a trespass order. The most valuable asset any company can have is happy staff. |

Welcome... the game is bad... you have a lot of work to do.. their will be a lot of complaining due to many beta testers having tested a product completely different than what was released, and CCP failing to fix basic things such as terrain feeling like quicksand and walls giving your bear hugs. We also are still plagued by infinite loading screens and beiong mic glitched.

Is it because you feel unloved, or is it because you have diabetes and your blood sugar is low? Maybe you're not getting enough vitamin D in your mom's basement? Anyway, I understand the jealousy over her talent and beauty, but the attacks can longer continue as thy once did on the Eve forums because now she's a part of the team and precedent across the industry says you're crusin' for a bruisin' if'n you mess with the Mintchip on what is now her own turf. Because her job description more likely requires expertise in social matters, community engagement, communication, liaising with other departments to develop promotional plans and representing CCP as a business at promotional events than it does shooting people in the face?

This is just something trendy in marketing departments in gaming industry. Very similar to what SOE did with PS2 when invited three YouTube 'celebrities' to lead game's three factions. They made two good choices, third one was replaced. We will see how our brand new YT celeb fares in 'community person' position.
Also it was quick, just on 3rd of June public got this short newsflash about gender ratio in EVE Online. Apparently 96% are males. Not sure if DUST counted.
Just day after we have this uncustomary 'welcome' thread from CCP Mintchip with also uncustomary unchanged nickname to differ from one previously used in games/public. Probably as the nickname is also sort of a brand with its cca 26k subscribers on YT.
So obviously we have here new community person to recruit more mercenaries. Of female gender would be bonus, I guess.

Mintchip, you should join Ill Omens (or at least a corp in EoN). IO has like 3-4 girls who play regularly, and 2-3 guys who like to dress up as girls, so you won't be the only boobs in corp chat. EoN as an alliance is really friendly and we constantly team up together for pubmatches and ring for each other in PC matches. |

Greetings Heinrich Jagerblitzen!
Yeah I can totally give you guys a little rundown on what to expect from me! For one, I'll say that I'm a new player for sure! Although when I first got into gaming I was a primarily FPS playing person. I played Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat was probably my most played game of all time. Console-wise I really enjoyed Red Faction, which I played too much. I've been playing Dust 514 a bit, and was actually pleasantly surprised. Not that I expected the worst or anything, but it was comforting to see the progress from some beta iterations. I have been a fly around the Dust guys here in Iceland and have been hearing their insights and plans and mostly I'll be helping YOU to be able to affect the decisions made here! We want the game to be great, and I feel as though this game has amazing potential to do so. Community wise we are still growing. I know many of you may be from EVE Online, and some of you are new and devoted Dust 514 players but that's going to get larger and larger as things progress and so getting your voices heard is the top priority.
I will be bringing sexy back. No but seriously, I will be working hard to keep communication open, working with event planning and improving the experience of you, the players. You'll be seeing a lot more from me in the coming months and I will be working out of San Francisco so USTZ players will have me to confide in. Right now I am in Iceland for training and will be poking my head in on here from time to time while I get my sea legs.
So far I've noticed the DUST 514 community seems very welcoming and that will be fantastic for bringing in new players for us to mercilessly kill. In game, of course. :P

you also have to add in having your welcome post shut down within 24 hours of putting up due to the Threadnought that took place. after many pages being deleted it appears to have had a additional 1165 posts.

Welcome mint, hate to bug you already but as a rep how bout a timeline of some sort? EVE knows exact dates and what's on the agenda (ie june 4th and what would happen) months ahead of time. We are also missing key content that greatly upsets our sp allocation (ie heavies and vehicles). So would I be better off spacing into amarr because winmatar heavy is a year away? It would also allow us to see where the game is headed, "carrot on a stick." Faith is a little low right now with CCP so any olive branch to the dust community would be appreciated.

Last i check it wasnt a vocal minority and it was the 1st welcome thread in the EVE forums to get closed and for anyone making a new thread about mintchip instant bans were handed out instantly and like free candy, hows that for damage control against the community who doesnt support CCP on this matter

As for point 4 what professionalism? i havnt seen any except rage quitting and complaining about trolls and the community, just because someone does youtube vids they get a job? seriously i can think of more qualified players for this role who actually play DUST and know what DUST is about |

Playing a game doesn't qualify someone to be a representative for the game. It's about character and open-mindedness. Based on what I've seen from her videos she's open to receiving & reviewing opinions, both positive and negative. I play this game a fair amount, but I'd be terrible as a CR because I have trouble with ignorant people & making sure their voices are heard to. I tend to just ignore them. |
