I can all most guarantee there will be some form of sp point reallocation... Didn't say reset just the ability to respend them. when? No idea but I will tell you this much it will not be free most likely will cost 1000-5000 aur. So just hold on its coming ccp needs to make money and this is a great way just wait a bit longer. |

As to sources well anyone that's played eve or researched ccp know they have a pretty good track record of giving their players what they want and the demand seem to be some form of sp reset. And my opinion is yes it will happen based on what I know with my experience with ccp. And my experience with free to play games tells me where there is large demand their is money to be made. If I'm wrong so be it but I doubt it. |

Something some of us seem to overlook with our give me give me attitudes. This is a free to play game we don't have to drop a cent on it. And ccp will still take our complaints and suggestions like we played 60$ for it. Now while we didn't or did pay for this game it does not take away from the fact that it cost $$$$$$$$$$$ to develop. And we will be getting two FREE expansions a year. What damn right do we have to complain about what they charge us or don't charge us for.... Simple fix don't buy it or don't play the free game. |

The complaint is that this is a F2P game, not a P2W one. CCP themselves have stated that they don't want this to be a P2W game, that's why all the AURUM items (well most of them) have isk variants, if they do offer a SP reset, it should be a 1 time free offer anything else would give credence to the P2W arguments. and yes i'll accept it as a grammar error. |

The aur items were put in the game for money individual mistakes were not please explain I'm confused how P2W is factored in. Unless u were playing for sp which u are not. |

There will be no pay for respace, ever, there are going to be over 4 more years of skills in the next build alone, your kidding yourself.
Sp refunds are only given in CCP titles when a large chunk of skills change. Besides what incentive would there be then to buy skill clusters? Skill clusters give you a set of skill levels for a week. If you could just respec there would be no reason to buy them.
Skill clusters is your way tot est skills paths before you invest, because you'll never get a take back.
Of crouse this also means with AUR proto suits a week old player could use skill clusters and AUR to fit out proto gear week 1. But that's not pay to win *rolls eyes* |

I wouldn't expect respecing, its not allowed in eve and for the same reason it wont be allowed here.(yes in eve you can optimize skill point gain once a year, not the same as SP respecing)
that said I would expect a refund of skill points come may. there will be a lot of skills added and that could affect current skills. we know there wont be a reset of SP because they said your characters will not be reset to day one.
as far as ccp making money off of this I can spend 20$$ on a couple of days worth of suits and I have, a lot of people are willing to spend the money so they don't have to spend time they don't have. This is how free to play works, you get a few whales and a reasonable number of people pay what amounts to a monthly and they cover the cost of allowing every one else to play.
this will only increase as the player driven market is introduced and aur items can be sold for isk. |

yea they need to stop selling those damn neos, or at least bump them up a skill levewl for ADV and PRO.
but 100% right, boosters would be useless and potentially skill clusters if they work as you described(I always figured they would work like implants in eve.) boosters are gonna be ccps bread and butter and they are not gonna offer resets to undermine that. not to mention it breaks the point of the game which is parallel skill progression, that drives people to dedicate years and multiple alts to a game like this, a respec feature for aur or not would opnly under mine that and their main money makers. |

I'm hoping - not expecting, but hoping - they also let us respec into new racial suit variants when they introduce a Gallente Assault equivalent, and a Caldari Small Frame, and the various other racial Dropsuit designs.
I know a few Caldari who have skilled into Gallente Scouts simply because it's the only option that fills our preferred role. I know a few people who want to skill into Scout suits, but because the only suit of that size is Gallente, they've avoided it. I know people who have skilled into Logis instead of Assaults even though they're not the preferred suit just because it's the only medium suit they can use without funding the Caldari State.
I know a lot of FPS players don't think this way, but some do, and giving those of us who are working on "best fit" options for now a chance to do what we REALLY wanted with our SP would be nice.
Having said that, though, I hope if they DO offer this kind of respec, it ONLY lets you respec into an equivalent weapon. The current Gallente AR skill could be trade (for example) for equal amount of SP into Gauss Rifle or Scramber Rifle operation, but not Shotgun or Forge Gun or SMG skills. If you've got level 5 Gallente Scout skill, then you can trade it for level 5 Caldari [insert small frame name] skill, but you can't respec into a Heavy suit because that would violate the intent for your decisions to have consequences. |

We want them to stick to the point of the world they've created with EVE Online.
Decisions have consequences. No matter how much an EVE pilot spends on the game, no matter how much ISK they spend, no matter how much real money they give CCP, there is still not an option for them to respec.
Why should DUST be any different?

But if a majority of people want a resec y not does it affect u or me? Bringing more money into the game will mean they can only do more faster I can see no downside other than a few people being butt hurt.
I guess it comes down to how many people want a respec vs how many do not. |

You're about to get into a battle worth 300,000,000 ISK and could send your corp into the top 20. All you need is 1 good tanker and respeccing is possible. You've just got your first example how respect effects us all and is pay to win. |

Not this thread again. Putting a price on respecs is not going to solve this. If we are going to get a respec at all, it will more than likely be a one time event and everyone gets it whether they asked for it or not. |

Please go to the war room and read the recent PRO fiasco, that example is the key reason why there should be no sp reset, it means everything will end up as flavor as the month, " that gun is currently OP? well lets respec into it" "oh they fixed it, well that gun is OP now, lets try it out" if you make resets available this will happen. |

you have 3 mil sp into an assault ar build, you decide you want to be a tanker, now in the normal course of things you earn extra sp both passive and active and you spec into them on top of your existing skills, lets say this takes you 1.5 mil sp to achieve, you now have a total of 4.5 mil sp and 2 specializations.
with an sp reset the following happens you have 3 mil sp into an assault ar build, you decide you want to be a tanker, you buy/use a respec option, you now have 3 mil sp into a tank specilization having given up your previous build. you now have a total of 3 mil sp and 1 specialization
an sp reset ruins the idea of making meaningful choices with your sp. |

agreed. the way of eve is that you can't both HAVE your cake and eat it.
you have to pick a course and stick with it.
now, after maxing it out, you can got pick something else, OR you get do a bit of everything. there is no limitation to what you can do. you just have to be patient.
you can't fly a titan till you've spent at least a year playing eve (fly it well i mean)
the same applies to dust.
EDIT: :/ totally botched the quoting, but deal with it, i made my point |

bottom line on how people will see things: If you can use real money to give yourself an edge in battle in a meaningful way like... idk.... changing your specialization to be the exact counter needed. That's pay to win. |

maybe it does but all comes down to how many people care one way or the other. just talking with u guys and looking at the forums it could go either way. Personaly I could take it or leave if it came out I would use it if doesn't I could care less. My point is I think if enough people keep pushing ccp will have to respond in some way and to be frank our community is too small **** too many people off one way or the other I guess all sides really need to decide is it really a game breaking feature if it is. Lets drop it now. If not what's people true issue with it. As a person on the fence I don't care as a dust player w/e keep people interested and playing is what I'm behind. I and I am sure quite a few people are pro reset. Why? I started off as a heavy, switched to assault. I would like to have that 3 mill sp from my heavy to make my assault better.
Now with that said this should be a 1 TIME DEAL! One chance to start over. If it becomes something ISK or AUR based the game mechanics will be ruined no matter what the cost of said reset is.
Here is why
You are a assault AR user. Your corp takes a 500 mill CB against imperfects. No one in your corp has propper AV or a good tank so you pay the AUR or ISK to suddenly have proto AV or a proto tank. Thus the game mechanics are broken and we have a pay to win system. |

No you're misunderstanding again, here's a scenario to help you understand.
Your going into a corp battle in 30 minutes against a corp that is known to be tank heavy, your side doesn't have that many AV guys capable of taking them out, so you have members A,b,C respec into AV so they can deal with them. However it's just as likely that the other team has anticapated that you will do something like this, and have had members A,B,C on their side respec away from tanks into anti AV fits namely infantry.
a respec system would blow the whole idea of picking your members for certain batles and gathering intel on what fits enemy players use out of the window. |

I believe we will have a re-allocation at Uprising release due to the sheer amount of new weapons and suites in the game, and the fact that people where forced into certain racial suites for their class (caladari for assault for example). While I can see other re-allocation in the future during open beta as they implement more and more weapons, suites, and vehicles in the game do not see it being reallocated once the game is in full release. Nor do I for see CCP having paid re-allocations or even re allocations for expansions. |

Beside you talking about a game mechanic that is soon to be removed. Your wrong one several counts you can't change skills in a war room. Second why in name of all that's holy fight imperfect with some that has never used a tank more over y challenge them if you don't have what you need to compete. Third just because you can respec how does that make you any better than anyone else? Sooo where is the pay to win here I see nothing. You are only arguing the example and not the problem. I never said skill wouldnt matter. It does but proto swarms takes 0 skill. It would be broken. Why do people insist I'm arguing.... Not sure what ur saying the problem is I was simply replying to ur example if u make the problem clear we can adress it in an informed manner |

You know who you're attacking (or who's attacking you), and have 24 hours to prepare. Anyone with AUR to spare and a less-than-optimal loadout for the enemy you'll be facing can buy a respec. |

If you can buy AUR items with ISK then nothing would be P2W. Just throwing that out there. And also UVT's are not really a good example of anything as CCP has to license voice chat from another company and uses UVT's to offset that cost. |

Umm not my idea I'm just commenting on what I'm seeing as to jita riots must have been during one of my breaks from eve or before I started my point is while this is a game in the eve universe it is not eve. In fact I've talked to several eve players and friends.alike they could careless if we burn in hell. So I doubt the majority or the major player in eve take any notice to a thing we do or don't do in dust it's not the same game with the same stakes and it won't be for years to come. |

MAG had a respec system. THAT WAS PART OF THE PROBLEM. It conributed to the game's death.
MMO is one thing, FPS is quite another, and New Eden another thing still.
The idea of having a respec option in New Eden doesn't work with the concepts and attitudes that CCP have built their world (and their fanbase) around. It also doesn't work for FPS gaming as well as it does for other types of MMO. It negates the importance of your training when you can just spend money to become equally proficient at something else on the same character. |

It would still be a terrible idea that goes against many of the core values of the setting, and it would still be game-breaking for the type of gameplay involved in DUST, just like it was detrimental in MAG. |

All meaningful choices must have permanent consequences even if your choice was based on a misinformed decision. It's also not hard to find out how a corp has been winning. It's doubtful a corp will change a winning strategy until it sees a hard counter. If you're not spending real money on that option, of course it's not going to be pay-to-win. Look at that in context and it makes a LOT more sense. |

No.
And you say a lot of people want to respec? Yeah, they do, but most want it so they can fix a few bad decisions or so that they can use the new suits/weapons when they come. You're system on the other hand reeks of potential for abuse. The ability to respec on the fly should never be allowed, doesn't matter how much it costs. |

I've never implied any kind of system for respecing as you claim my points and I guess I need to say it three times now were that lots of people were wanting a respec and that I don't think it's pay to win if you happen to have been reading an example between me and someone else it was simply a example and I said once once a week or month at least twice in fact I had to repeat myself for another person. You saw me say I was done with the post yet you point me out saying I'm saying things I did not say simply because you don't want to read the posts. Why half write this with half information? Why not ask me to clarify instead of imply things I didn't say? Anger? Ignorance doesn't make me angry it makes me sad. |

So just hold on its coming ccp needs to make money and this is a great way just wait a bit longer. that won't ever happen. if they change a skill tree, they will refund the sp you've already spent in a non-existent tree for you to re-spend. they won't ever let you 'respec' for aur, or for any other reason. I'm hoping - not expecting, but hoping - they also let us respec into new racial suit variants when they introduce a Gallente Assault equivalent, and a Caldari Small Frame, and the various other racial Dropsuit designs. they've already protected themselves against this, as is obvious in the suit tree as it is.
I know a few Caldari who have skilled into Gallente Scouts simply because it's the only option that fills our preferred role. I know a few people who want to skill into Scout suits, but because the only suit of that size is Gallente, they've avoided it. I know people who have skilled into Logis instead of Assaults even though they're not the preferred suit just because it's the only medium suit they can use without funding the Caldari State. not wearing a suit because it's gallente doesn't make much sense within the eve universe.
I know a lot of FPS players don't think this way, but some do, and giving those of us who are working on "best fit" options for now a chance to do what we REALLY wanted with our SP would be nice. they don't want it to be easy to play this game, if they did they would have made cod 16 or whatever
If you've got level 5 Gallente Scout skill, then you can trade it for level 5 Caldari [insert small frame name] skill, but you can't respec into a Heavy suit because that would violate the intent for your decisions to have consequences.
it sounds to me like you wish you had been in the beta earlier. CCP gave you that option, and you passed. not their fault. |

CCP are very unlikely to offer a respec for AUR or for isk. If they had any intention of doing so, they would introduce it in EVE online, with AUR for an attribute reallocation. However, Low, people may want to reskill for racial dropsuits. Some racial dropsuits may grant bonuses to certain things, e.g. Amarr assault-equivalent may include a bonus to laser damage/heat dissipation rate etc, so having a Caldari assault suit would be useless if you like lasers. |

Didn't say reset just the ability to respend them. when? No idea but I will tell you this much it will not be free most likely will cost 1000-5000 aur. So just hold on its coming ccp needs to make money and this is a great way just wait a bit longer. that won't ever happen. if they change a skill tree, they will refund the sp you've already spent in a non-existent tree for you to re-spend. they won't ever let you 'respec' for aur, or for any other reason.
And as I said, I hope for this, but don't expect it. At all. Might be nice, but not a big deal for me. |
