I'm just pissed because right now it feels like they're holding off on the build and just milking the crap out of new and old players alike for $$, giving them products that don't mean a damn thing for a game that's very far from completed. Bah, break time from DUST for me >_< |

Baal Omniscient wrote:Free Beers wrote:Baal Omniscient wrote:Just a heads up, there have been plenty of unreleased games that cost money. Remember that last NFS demo that cost like 20 bucks? Or Dissidia 012: Duodiecium Prologus? And how about the Planetside 2 beta last year? This scene look familiar? And the money you spent here was voluntary, not necessary for you to get to play. If you regret your purchases, that's your fault for spending your money on an unfinished product, not CCP's. Also, you are getting far to excited over this. Let it play out. If you want to leave, then leave. No one is twisting your arm here. Leave and come back when you feel it's lived up to your expectations if it ever does, but don't blast others for having faith in CCP just because you feel you were let down. YOU are the one keeping you here, go play COD since you feel it's so "epic from the start". Go play Planetside 2. Play BF. Hell, play ANYTHING ELSE, but unless you are going to be constructive, quit mucking up the forum with pointless whining about how bad the game is and how slow it's progressing even though you spent money on it. That does absolutely nothing to help things along here. You want it to progress faster? Maybe quit starting arguments like this so we can have constructive conversations without getting distracted by this kind of BS. I contribute constructively all the time. Check my threads before you open your mouth kid If you pay ******* attention to any or all of IWS posts he is the one that shows up and bashes people that create threads. Its not the other way around. If someone has issue with CCP he swoops in as super CCP fanboi to say "Its just a beta". How is that constructive? It's not if you are being honest. So its not me that starts **** with iws and is CCP fanboi-ness. He sucks as this game and spends his free time in an academic circle jerk theory crafing dust **** no one cares about. I'm just here to call him out on it. The reason I mention "paying for beta" is CCP themselves said (and I paraphrase as i dont have quote on my pc) that "no one should pay for a beta". So CCP assured us we would get aurum refunds until go live. Devs on irc told us "its not a offical release" or "it's not full release". When we moved to TQ there was no aurum discussion or notice from CCP. All they said was no more resets. Resets always had to do with sp never aurum. Once ccp got called on it what did they do? no public statement or dust forum post. They simply changed the wording of purchase agreement after the fact. Yes, you have had plenty of constructive posts over the last several months. You are also contributing to threads that do nothing to progress the game. Discussing how bad a beta is doesn't do a thing to improve it. To improve the game, all you can do is post constructive posts and wait. If you don't want to wait, that's not CCP's fault. IWS does pop up to remind people it's a beta quite often. Because people keep making threads like this that do nothing to try to improve it. Threads like this draw people away from threads that are actually attempting to submit ideas to improve the beta. It is distracting away from people actually trying to fix things. It may not be constructive when IWS posts that it is a beta, but at least he only does it when a thread is derailing into a pit of "this game isn't as good as it's supposed to be, QQ, QQ, QQ" CCP has been bad at alerting us to changes that they make, but continuing to complain about it weeks and months after it was done doesn't help anything. If you want the game to be good, don't QQ about it. Try to fix it with constructive posts. Every QQ post you put up is one more distraction from the constructive posts you have put up. You want the game to get better? Quit making people waste their time by responding to your whining when they could be coming up with ideas to fix existing issues. Baaal,
I agree with a lot of what you are saying. About posting constructively for the good of the game and the community and whatnot. But I also sympathize with what I feel like Beers is trying to communicate: frustration and disappointment with the current state of the game and the lack of clear expectations for what is to come. And when.
Given all that, would you consider it constructive or not to make posts asking CCP to be more open with information, plans, ideas, deadlines, etc? I personally would feel much better if, even lacking updates and polish and new content, CCP would do a better job of telling us what's going on.
Are they on track with the current Sprint cycles (assuming they are even using the same processes of game development as Eve), are they changing plans regarding content based on testing? What can we expect in coming patches? What would they like to achieve in the long term?
Some might suggest that this kind of info released from a company to the public would compromise thier business position, but if that is not the reason for the great lack of info and feedback, I'd like to know what is.
Constructive or no? |

COD might be the same game every year, but in terms of features and overall gameplay it's still leaps and bounds better than DUST. It's probably the most accessible shooter on the market. It caters to players of all skill level. Which is something this game will never be able to do. |

But this game isn't meant to cater to all the different types of players, this game like EVE is more attractive to a certain type of player rather than being something that anyone can just jump into. |

Now that said this is make or break for the current player population, maybe not the game but definitely this player population.
That said this base is the primary PSN community of fpser and live streams and content producers. If they go this game will likely hobble on along with a revolving door of 1-2 week cycle new players and thats about it.
So here this works now, 4.2.13 is the release date of Defiance, a game that former CCP devs have worked on. I've seen gameplay from a PC friend during beta test, i can tell you it plays well. Its not graphically astonishing by any means but compared to Dust in its current form its better. The game will attract a lot of players just because of the idea that it will influence a tv show and the show will influence the game.
It has both PVP and PVE and coop and MMO all ready to go. It has XP boosters that you can get in special editions which suggest you can buy those in market. Additionally it has DLC slated to come this year to expand the content.
All this will be out 4.2.13. So if this next build isn't "game" changing you will see a lot migrate over to that while they wait on GTA V, Last of Us, and a host of other games "cough" Destiny "cough" to keep us busy.
Yes maybe Dust will survive without us but you will never have the FPS talent to do the things EVE pilots really want us to do soooo.
Balls in your court CCP... now get err done or face the possibility of some very unhappy investors(I mean the corporate ones, not us). He was using the easiest classes in the game. It's not hard to 2 shot people with the sniper, and mow people down with an HMG.

I still say that the easiest weapon to use is the Assault Rifle.
I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but it's by far the most forgiving and most flexible weapon in the game. You're very limited in your usefulness with either the HMG or Sniper Rifle, with the AR you'll find yourself useful just about anywhere. |

The 2012 window (remember the joint marketing with the bundle in new PS3s?)
This is just saying they spread themselves too thin promising the sky and the moon and what they delivered is an incoherent mess. Think about it - if you picked up DUST and had seen no marketing video's hyping the persistent universe with EVE, what would the current DUST look like to you? A generic, tiny lobby shooter.
It's hard to have steady growth when the install base is on steady decline. They have to go native PS4 year one or the game has no chance. Also, upgrading a system every decade is hardly Apple level "upgraditis" syndrome. |

3 RROD 360s and 2 YLOD PS3s, yeah, that's the last time I buy a console at launch. I'm sure any smart person would wait a little before just switching over completely, especially with the lack of backwards compatibility. It's nowhere near apple level though. |

As for David Reid not saying anything about the PS4 that's for a later date when plans are made clearer.
Another marketing dev did mention 10 year plan goes beyond the life of the ps3. However that question was more in response to PC port possibility. |

Another marketing dev did mention 10 year plan goes beyond the life of the ps3. However that question was more in response to PC port possibility. I'm not an eve player and I'm not giving anymore money to this dev until I see something meaningful on the ps3. That's great eve players have a meaningful game but we don't even have the structure for one here on ps3 yet
Very well but I am just saying it is in effect it is there and here is some evidence

Dusters took this planet for the Gallente, because of it this solar system is 4% eaiser to take away from the caldari.
Hopefully, next patch will bring this into clearer perspective, allow individuals to participate and reward loyalty instead of locking it all away into consentual corp battles (which last I heard they wanted to get rid of but IRC asked for the 'dueling' system to remain in place, I wasnt' there for that convo.) |

Unless I'm very much mistaken the 3-6 months quoted is in reference to post release expansion content, not beta content updates. Not this again.
Yes, we've actually operated on a 3 months per build the past couple builds, so the number is accurate. HOWEVER(!!! important !!!) a new build is not the same as new content, as CCP can push data to the client, even update parts of the python code, between builds.
E.g. game modes, items, maps, sounds, textures, menu items, etc, can all be updated at any time. |

IE in eve's case, Retribution 1.1 which was only 6 weeks after expansion. |
