You look at the big picture. What CCP asked Zion to do is almost exactly what Kain wanted to do. Kain asked CCP if he could do it. He got no reply. Then out of the blue CCP asks Zion to do something very similar to what Kain was already planning on doing. |

If by taking System/Planets you mean intentionally exploiting the system so that Zion TCD can flip systems without any fighting due to the current unfinished nature of the Faction Warfare system then I guess you are right. Zion TCD doesn't want good fights they want to game the system. Mentality's like this will kill the game. No one will play a fps where the main goal is to duck battles and not actually fight.
Unfortunately, that much is true about FW being broken as it is. Shad just wanted to force CCPs hand to fix this as soon as possible. If thats what you want to call it, suurrrrrrrreeeee Lol, ain't it a good Merc philosophy: If you're gonna do something good, might as well get something out of it. haha btw, you left out something I said in your quote. One way of doing this is to actually take advantage of it by contacting Eve Corps to play their part in it. It might not be the best way to do it but it seems to be the most effective in the shortest amount of time.
We all know what you are up to. You can call it whatever you want. |

Ok so heres what I understand: you think that CCP saw his petition that didnt get answer yet, copied the idea, sent email to zion, asked him to do "the same" and that they somehow "stole kanes thunder" by doing so even though they mentioned they will contact other corps too?

Just because CCP contacted Shad doesn't mean that they won't ask Kain. They need more people to submit videos. That's all there is to it.
They knew Kain was already doing it, so while CCP should have replied to Kain and given him their support sooner, I guess it just wasn't #1 on the list or maybe was given to a different person to handle who just haven't gotten around to doing it yet. |

Kain Spero wrote:I appreciate the reply Cmdr Wang. I remember when you stopped by the "Dust OB" channel to listen in on what was going on. It really helped create a good bit of buzz to get the ball rolling. I guess the main reason I'm upset with the situation was because the request for the event I filed to CCP and is under review is almost exactly the same as what was requested of Zion Shad. I'll post that mail shortly for clarity. Here is the mail I sent in (it is long): *********************** URGENT: Question Regarding Prizes for Saturday Mass Event on 1/19/2012 Dear Support, GM Pyro asked me to forward my question here regarding prizes that I was considering using for the Mass Orbital Bombardment Event/Test. TLDR: Can I use a Gurista Saga PSN voucher (or EU one) for a contest tied to the the Mass Orbital Test detailed below.Info about the event can be found here: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=51247&find=unread , which is a follow up to this event: http://evenews24.com/2013/01/12/live-event-dust-514-eve-online-mass-orbital-strike-fest/I used ISK prizes to reward those who got the first confirmed kills from Orbital Bombardment in the first Orbital event. See the following: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=461039#post461039https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=2456406#post2456406The contest will be for the best recorded footage of the event and the only requirement for entry is submission of a recording of the event. I am working with a friend of mine who programs an ips/ids device, adds vulnerability detection and maintains build systems for IBM to create a straightforward system for players to get me the footage. Once I receive the entries I will review them and pick the best EVE side footage and Dust side footage. Currently the prizes include a PLEX awarded to the best EVE side video and 250 million ISK to best Dust side video. For the prize post see the following: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=473664#post473664Since there is currently no way to transfer money from EvE to dust I was considering using a PSN Voucher for the Gurista saga as a prize (and hopefully get a EU Dust PSN voucher donated to me from an EU player, so I could use it incase the contest winner is from EU). The purpose of the contest is to increase participation and interest in the event and also create a pool of videos that can then be edited together and use to advertise future community Orbital Bombardment events. I would also like to make this footage available to CCP for internal and potential promotional use if there is any interest there. Also, If CCP Frame or CCP Nullarbor would like to know the Amarr/Minmatar system pick (ZionShad is picking the Gallente/Caldari one) ahead of time on the off chance dedicating a node is necessary please let me know. I'm currently working with Hans Jagerblitzen to narrow the pick down to three systems for me to then pick one from. Thank you for your time reviewing this issue and all of there work you guys have put into this game. I've been having a blast. Sincerely, Kain Spero Eve Side: Kane Spero
CCP isn't really good with these this thing called... planning... or ... dates... haven't you noticed?
But seriously, I think it's super lame that CCP created all this drama and won't admit fault. It was a egghead call. If they wanted to pick Zion for their little footage and prize thing they should not of done so untill after your event was held.
Btw I think you guys are awesome for putting up money and I hope all this nonsense and wash over and we just have fun playing dust and supporting a game we obviously love. |

That was sent on the 16th actually, which it also when this thread was created:

I don't have emails for the Devs, nor would I feel it was appropriate to use them like that. There are busy enough as it is and if a GM can handle the issue all the better. No Dev time wasted. |

You must be new to CCP GMs. You should be in contact with a dev member directly, it's not a waste of their time as long as you don't waste it. I've been involved with eve since the original beta. If your running an event you should email a dev. Or get a dev on Skype, they use that a lot too.
Just email them asking for who you should get in contact with and you should get a direct line of communcation, don't abuse it, and you'll be fine.

I don't know what experience you've had, but I've never had issues with the GMs. Sometimes I get answers I don't like, but they've always been very responsive. GM Pyro was very helpful in making sure the petition was escalated quickly and would keep me updated on the petition's progress . For some reason or another it got stalled out during the process it seems. |

Oh they aren't bad, they aren't aren't as connected to the devs as you might expect/hope they would be. They won't hear back on something they send in to a CCP dev for weeks. If you want to hold a big community event you should email the community manager. I can get and post his email here for you if you like, he's a great guy. |

I judge people based on how they present themselves. This thread is a pretty good example of Immortals starting a witch hunt over a non issue, not exactly a productive diversion for the beta community. I don't know anything about Kain, all I know is how much of a deal he is making over this. From how they are representing themselves on the forums they are much more interested in getting proper 'credit' and trying to shun other players, over helping the Dust community grow. If they want to run an event, just make an event.
I am just as perplexed as Commander Wang as to how the community is so outraged over this.

CCP Cmdr Wang wrote:I have to say I'm a little surprised by all the drama that arose from this. This isn't the first time we've contacted the player community to help promote DUST and it certainly will not be the last.
We have plans to contact other CEOs of DUST corps to promote dust in other ways, we just don't have the manpower to process dozens of events all at the same time, and so we will need to pace this out over weeks. It just so happens that Zion was the first CEO we contacted. So fear not, we have plans for other leaders of DUST corporations and get others involved.
And please, don't player hate. Tbh if your supprised. Then your not connected to the community as u should be. Which is not your falt but the gms should have jumped on this far faster. The overridding feeling people have is that ccp is showing favoritetism to a corp which has been an issue with ccp in the past. Its just in this case we happen to have beers who uses nukes to cut the grass :-P. Put another way this was the straw that broke the cammals back |

i remember imperfects for what they were and still are. in the beginning of this game they had no intentions of test anything. they trolled and grief'd people were dead against balancing and game issues. every other post was "QQ" "scrub" "but hurt" "get good" and so on.
now in the last 4 weeks they have done a OB test WOW! let me get a frickin chair!.
yet ZTCD have fully participated in player and CCP run testing events to our fullest actively encourage, pro-active criticised and suggestions on topics. Tested the game to the best of our abilities.
Imperfects will tell you the did to with the old "sp farming framing from LAV's" that got them into proto gear in....... 10 days was it? their excuse "oh we are onlyn doing it to highlight to CCP how flawed and exploitable it is"
yet ZionTCD our exploiters for posting up and proving faults with FW mechanics.

GG CCP, you just lost the enthusiasm of one of your best community supporters. no idea how the result of this will inspire others to create such events when you just go over their heads and then brush it off with one of the selfish players of dust. The sad thing is it's the community who will retract from creating such events because of decisions like this. And it's everyone who will lose out. Zion, Imperfects, SI, Betamax.
What if this happened with Jenza? What if CCP asked PFB to make a podcast called "DustSide"? I think those defending the result of this should think "what if I were in this position". Like some have said here it may mean little to those that weren't involved, but to those who were it is more. |
