Shad was open and cool with me about the situation and asked if I wanted to participate and help out on Saturday, which I can't since I will be out and about that day.
Whatever happens the Dust OB event will be occurring this Saturday and will be hosted by CSM 7 member Hans aka Heinrich on Dust (who specializes in Faction Warfare). Shad is welcome to use his support from CCP to bolster the event. Once/if I've have gotten an answer regarding the prizes I was going to offer I'll post that up.
I dont think this was a malicious action. I've had nothing but good conversations with the Devs and GMs with any issues regarding the orbital stuff (including working with CCP so they knew system picks well ahead of time so they could track the data). I think was just a mis communication and misunderstanding. That doesn't make any less angering. |

they might have a lots of reasons that we dont know about and were not taking into consideration You need all the variables to solve the equation but we havent all of them so nothing we say is actually right or not right
I was actually planning on carrying over the streaming from the Dust For Kids stuff to this, but I hadn't gotten in touch with Jenza about it yet. Streams will be happening on Saturday and they will be awesome and they will make people pay attention to this game.
I didn't run the OB stuff by myself. Mobius came up with the idea to create a Orbital Bombardment centered channel. I just ended up being the one who made it and it snowballed from there. That became Dust OB and then OB events followed. Tons have people have helped me keep it going along the way (shout out to Jaiden, Daniel, Corvo, Hans, Beers, D3LTA Superman, the list goes on).I wanted to pass it off to the community because I knew my corp tag could get in the way of making this something even bigger and last for years down the road. The EVE/Dust connection is what sells this game!
Everyone in this Beta has worked hard to make this game work and better. From the wall of text posters to the QQ'ers. As beta testers we have put countless hours testing the game to help make it what it is today and what it will be in the future. That is ours to own, but also make us responsible for breaking whatever code when can, exploit any weapon possible 'till its fix, and presenting and pimping this game to the wider community outside the beta to ensure its success. It doesn't matter how we get down that path. The only thing is at the end of the day this game kicks the **** out of every other FPS and makes a real impact on New Eden that drives people to our ranks as Dusters.

I feel differently about this, I feel this in a way is in a way part of the beta test. CCP DEV's & GM's overstepped their bounds. Now we should focus on using this controversy to accomplish something long term. Clearly Dust needs CCP's internal affairs providing more oversight as they may as of yet not even be mandated to watch Dust as well as EVE.
2-Ton Twenty, I don't think this is an IA situation. I really hope that it's just an honest mistake. For the Eve people around, you'll understand that this situation is a grain of sand compared to the BoB T2 BPO fiasco or the s*** that lead to Burn Jita. I really appreciate the support, but I don't think this really is an Internal Affairs level issue. |

I may cringe (and laugh) at stuff that ends up on the forums from time to time, but I'm proud for every minute that I fight with my fellow IMPS on the battlefield.
It may be hard for some to see past the trolling and smack talk, but these guys genuinely care about the game and want it to be awesome. One of the reasons an Imperfect will complain at the top of his lungs when they think something is f-ed up is that they WANT the game to be good. You can count on one thing, if an IMP has an opinion about something he's going to share it with you, whether you like the way they do that or not. |

Honestly, Shad, I wasn't paying attention to the gravity of what you were telling me. I was too focused on my charity stream and then work this morning. I'll take any Dust event or happening and try to combine it with other things folks are doing in the community to focus people and make the end event even bigger.
I'm glad you had time announce your candidacy for CSM before stopping by this thread or getting in touch with me directly.
Do not confuse my pleasantness with being okay. I am not okay right now. I'm glad you thought enough of me to offer me a t-shirt and a mouse pad out of your swag pile. |

I appreciate the reply Cmdr Wang. I remember when you stopped by the "Dust OB" channel to listen in on what was going on. It really helped create a good bit of buzz to get the ball rolling.
I guess the main reason I'm upset with the situation was because the request for the event I filed to CCP and is under review is almost exactly the same as what was requested of Zion Shad.
I'll post that mail shortly for clarity.
Here is the mail I sent in (it is long):

URGENT: Question Regarding Prizes for Saturday Mass Event on 1/19/2012
Dear Support,
GM Pyro asked me to forward my question here regarding prizes that I was considering using for the Mass Orbital Bombardment Event/Test.
TLDR: Can I use a Gurista Saga PSN voucher (or EU one) for a contest tied to the the Mass Orbital Test detailed below.
Info about the event can be found here: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=51247&find=unread , which is a follow up to this event: http://evenews24.com/2013/01/12/live-event-dust-514-eve-online-mass-orbital-strike-fest/
I used ISK prizes to reward those who got the first confirmed kills from Orbital Bombardment in the first Orbital event. See the following:
https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=461039#post461039
https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=2456406#post2456406
The contest will be for the best recorded footage of the event and the only requirement for entry is submission of a recording of the event. I am working with a friend of mine who programs an ips/ids device, adds vulnerability detection and maintains build systems for IBM to create a straightforward system for players to get me the footage. Once I receive the entries I will review them and pick the best EVE side footage and Dust side footage.
Currently the prizes include a PLEX awarded to the best EVE side video and 250 million ISK to best Dust side video. For the prize post see the following: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=473664#post473664
Since there is currently no way to transfer money from EvE to dust I was considering using a PSN Voucher for the Gurista saga as a prize (and hopefully get a EU Dust PSN voucher donated to me from an EU player, so I could use it incase the contest winner is from EU).
The purpose of the contest is to increase participation and interest in the event and also create a pool of videos that can then be edited together and use to advertise future community Orbital Bombardment events. I would also like to make this footage available to CCP for internal and potential promotional use if there is any interest there.
Also, If CCP Frame or CCP Nullarbor would like to know the Amarr/Minmatar system pick (ZionShad is picking the Gallente/Caldari one) ahead of time on the off chance dedicating a node is necessary please let me know. I'm currently working with Hans Jagerblitzen to narrow the pick down to three systems for me to then pick one from.
Thank you for your time reviewing this issue and all of there work you guys have put into this game. I've been having a blast.
Sincerely,
Kain Spero

Dusty Mokong wrote:ZionTCD has already been actively taking contracts with Eve Corps to take Systems/Planets
If by taking System/Planets you mean intentionally exploiting the system so that Zion TCD can flip systems without any fighting due to the current unfinished nature of the Faction Warfare system then I guess you are right. Zion TCD doesn't want good fights they want to game the system. Mentality's like this will kill the game. No one will play a fps where the main goal is to duck battles and not actually fight.
We've been approached by pilots from several organizations to flip systems, but we lay it straight to them that there is no way to guarantee that we can attack because folks can just not accept the contract and we REFUSE to exploit the system in order to flip systems.
Shad, you try to say you are the "good guy", but there is no such thing in New Eden. You've come to the wrong universe to make that sale. |

Sylvana Nightwind wrote:Hmmm that petition was sent 5 days ago, I once waited for 7 days for my petition to get answer.
Why not send email directly to these community guys or some other ccp if you want urgent answer?
That was sent on the 16th actually, which it also when this thread was created:

I don't have emails for the Devs, nor would I feel it was appropriate to use them like that. There are busy enough as it is and if a GM can handle the issue all the better. No Dev time wasted. |

I don't know what experience you've had, but I've never had issues with the GMs. Sometimes I get answers I don't like, but they've always been very responsive. GM Pyro was very helpful in making sure the petition was escalated quickly and would keep me updated on the petition's progress . For some reason or another it got stalled out during the process it seems. |

I have not lost my enthusiasm . If anything this whole situation has galvanized it. I'm not going anywhere. I just don't want the Dust OB Events to get messed up by whatever is going on with me at the time. |
