Feel free to add some more of your own (comprehensive!) questions, guys. Still have nine hours until we get to see it for ourselves =P
-Could you give some elaboration on "Reducing the damage gap"?
-Mass drivers received increase magazine size, did they also receive increase maximum ammo as well?
-Could you elaborate "made damage pass on all turrets"?
-Difference between the Light Assault Rifle (Fanfest 2009 rifle speculation?) and the Gallente Assault Rifle?
-Update(s) on CCP Wolfman's "new suits" mentioned in Codex?
-Will we see the new weapons, I.E: Plasma Cannon, Flaylock Pistol and/or Scrambler Rifle in Chromosome?
-Update(s) on the Crusader/Pilot suits?
-Update(s) on Scout strafe speed?
-"Combined Cardiac Regulator and Cardiac Stimulant modules into one module type." Any updates on the skill requirement(s)?
-Update(s) on Selling Salvage/Player Market? |

-Update(s) on Selling Salvage/Player Market?
-Weapons similar to the Swarm Launcher where meta 1 vs meta 5 was nearly a 400% increase are getting bought into a much smoother scale. Essentially meta 1-5 should be factored much better as they level up. Officer variants should also be adjusted but always based off the meta 5's performance.
-Naming convention, the Gallente Assault Rifle is also known as a Plasma Rifle.
-Pushed back to content patch this was a fixit patch that started its development on the ccp devs vs the players match few months back.
-Possible they may be in this build. Resources for the weapons where added in so they could be hot fixed in.
- Crusader and Pilots suits part of next build
-Skill requirements are probably either going back to dropsuit command or shift over to the third skill in that category. or require one of the two. well find out tommorrow.
-'Scrapping' the first iteration is next build.

Here are some answers to the questions above.
- This is a reduction on the amount of damage done by weapons in the same class. Previously, the difference in damage output was very wide depending on the meta level of the weapon and we wanted to narrow that.
- The increase in max ammo values for mass drivers are: Mass Driver=18, Breach Mass Driver=18, and Assault Mass Driver=24.
- We re-evaluated the turrets and adjusted damage amounts and dispersion and blast radius of large and small missile turrets.
- The light assault rifle and Gallente assault rifle are the same, just a change in terminology.
- New dropsuits will appear on the PSN store/market soon as vanity items.
- Weapons like the Plasma Cannon and Flaylock Pistol will be making their debut in another update.
- The Vigor skill is still required by the Cardiac Regulator/Stimulant module. The two modules are now merged into one.
- The seconday market will be introduced in a future update.

Actually no. We want more fire mode variations for the sniper rilfe and the "charge" feature did not make it in to the Chromosome update. This has been updated in the patch notes sticky. Thanks. |

Howdy Cmdr Wang,
Any chance with this update today we will see the Weekly SP reset be adjusted to the schedule it was supposed to be on?
As of right now it resets every Wednesday, whereas in the notes explaining the Weekly SP, it says it resets every Tuesday.
Last question. We asked awhile back about this Weekly SP cap and were informed it might be adjusted to Daily SP cap "soon", any update on the SP system? |

Correct, with the Chromosome update, the SP cap will be changed to daily instead of a weekly cap. The daily SP cap will be reset during each day's DT. |

Fun Dust Dev Trivia Fact :
CmdrWang got his name because his last name in RL is Wang, and his rank in the military was Major. He initially wanted to use the name CCP Major Wang, but the bigwigs at the time said no, but they let him choose CmdrWang instead. |

Best thing to hopefully bring more people back to DUST. Really excited about this one. I honestly wouldn't care if you guys had divided 500k (or whatever the cap was) by 7 and set that as the daily cap. The time needed to get the SP wasn't the thing that I hated. It was getting 20 SP per match for days on end that made me want to just quit. |

Actually, I'd imagine a two/three-week total bucket for the quota would be better cause it would be more stable. Seriously, this isn't that difficult a programming exercise. |

Since we are not resetting today players will not be reimbursed today. When we do a reset at a later time, players will get their AUR and gift items from events reimbursed in the same manner as last time. |

ohhhh yea thats a great answer to the first half/last half of the week problem. make it a cap for every two weeks that rolls one week at a time and limits you to a daily cap. that way you can not play for two weeks becuase of vacation or work but you dont loose the sp but you still can enjoy the dailly grind. |

The implementations you've been jumping between have been rather full of suck.
To summarise:
- A two-week's worth of total quota, 1000k SP.
- Every day add 1000k/14 SP, up to max total quota.
- A logarithmically decreasing function is used to get the multiplier for match SP: [1.0-0.0>.
- Should be tuned so that a player playing... 15(or so?) good matches would end up with 500k left in quota.
- A hardcore player would end up after a week with a constant 50-150k in quota.
- Both get equal active SP as long as the casual doesn't let the quota get full by playing the 15 matches per week.
- Payouts for the hardcore player will remain relatively stable, avoiding rage.
- Make sure that exceptionally large base match SP is handled properly in the calculation in order to avoid draining the quota excessively.

That 1000k SP = 1000000SP = 1mil SP?

Rasatsu's proposal of SP accrual from a pool, with accrual rate modified by a logarithmic damping function is a great solution to the problem of balancing real-lifers vs. grinders.
This issue should be high on CCP's priority list as I suspect the real-lifers will be enthusiastic users of AUR, provided they feel that the game mechanics are treating them fairly.
Rasatsu's idea is fair to all playstyles. The nicest thing about Rasatsu's idea is it's psychological 'rightness' - logarithmic feedback feels natural and intuitive to us hairless ape types. It's something that we can estimate very accurately once we have a little hands-on experience with the system - no math, calculators or spreadsheets required.
For CCP the takeaway message is you good peeps don't have to agonize over balancing playstyles if you employ a sp reward system like Rasatsu's, and that in all likelihood the playerbase will take to it like ducks to water. People can smell justice, even if they can't verbalize it. |

You cant gloat about destroying any armor tank when you use godlike swarms

CCP Cmdr Wang, thanks for the response, but it is a serious point...
If you have a daily SP cap, what is the point of an SP cap at all? Let me try to explain...
Let's say our playerbase consists of 4 types of player:
- Casual: Plays a couple of times a week for an hour or so (average weekly play: 3 hours)
- Hardcore Type A: Plays 2 or 3 times a week in long stints of 5 or so hours (average weekly play: 10-15 hours)
- Hardcore Type B: Plays every day for an hour or three (average weekly play: 10-15 hours)
- Super-Hardcore: Plays 5-10 hours every day (average weekly play: 30-50 hours)
I would imagine roughly 35% of the playerbase would be Casual gamers and 60% Hardcore (30% type A and 30% type B), and the remaining 5% are the Super-Hardcore.
[EDIT]: There may actually be a lot more casual players than that, but the number of casual players is irrelevant in the context of this argument.
Yes this is a heavily simplified view of the playerbase, but in my mind pretty accurate.
Now, our requirement:
- In the long term, Super-Hardcore players should not be able to gain more SP than Hardcore players.
(the Casual gamers wont expect to keep up with the Hardcore gamers, so we keep them out of the requirement to 'keep up' skillpoint-wise).
Notice 'long term'. It is SP difference over time which matters.
Comparison of different SP caps:
- Daily SP cap: Allows the Hardcore type B to keep up with Super-Hardcore, but not the type A.
- Weekly SP cap: Allows both types to keep up with Super-Hardcore, but is bloody annoying for type B.
On the face of it, the weekly SP cap was the lesser of two evils. Please consider other options! |

I'd like to see a daily "diminishing returns" effect, but one which works gradually, not hitting players hard, and with smaller modifiers being applied the longer you play - basically like a "stacking penalty" on the negative modifiers for long-term play.
There should also be a weekly "hard" cap on SP earnings, preferably with a series of thresholds that provide negative modifiers as well.
That would mean that people with only a day or two of playtime could grind for several hours and still be reasonably expected to keep up with the daily players who have a similar amount of total playtime.
To integrate the above restrictions into a coherent form, only the higher of the two applicable modifiers should be used. If you have a -100% modifier from hitting the weekly SP cap, you shouldn't have the daily modifier counted as well, because that will mean you lose SP for playing, and that's a terrible idea.
More importantly than this change, though, is that I want MORE TRANSPARENCY in the SP system. We need a way to see the following details:
1. Base SP earned (possibly with a further breakdown of SP from kills, SP from objectives and SP from destruction) 2. Booster modifier (if applicable, possibly with an ad for "you could have bought a booster for X AUR and got this bonus") 3. Currently-active diminishing returns modifier
Point 3 is the key thing we're not being told. Show players what our limits are, what's happening to "our" SP when we go into a match, so we aren't coming here and screaming "you stole my SP, stupid hard cap" or similar, less-polite reactions. |

Posted something in another thread about sp that kinda sounds like this as well. Mix of a weekly (why not even monthly) and daily cap ? Also had an interesting talk on IRC with other players about cool ideas.
Anyway, only sur thing i can add is what CCP_Praetorian tweeted me yesterday : "We want to ensure that players progress (sp) similar if they started at the same time. " https://twitter.com/CCP_Praetorian/status/281403441752977409

We do plan to improve the SP cap system with future iterations that will be more sophisticated than the current daily SP cap. Thanks for all the suggestions and time spent in testing this system. The difference in opinon on whether a weekly or daily SP cap seems to be based on player preference and play style, and we will find a system that can best accomodate both and retain balance. |

I think the simplest mix would be called a rolling tally.
A rolling tally is where you have a daily limit, however at the end of the day your unused limit is rolled into the next day.
This roll over residual is only valid for 7 days though so it doesn't matter what day of the week or for how long you log in, as long as you keep coming back you can keep up.
Without this no one with a life will be able to keep up and eventually they will drop out.
I would also suggest you offer another expensive option for earning SP that just Caps you for the duration. That way human beings who do thing like take holidays don't feel a need to give their PSN account details to gold farmers in china. |

The change to a daily SP cap has NOT been made, when will this change occur? |

Here is my pitch for a much better SP limit model:
The previous system has an SP pool per character that gets reset once a week on a Tuesday. SP that is rewarded is drawn from the pool and once it is dissipated results in minute amounts of SP being rewarded per match. There is a diminishing returns calculation applied to make the pool last over the week.
Although this is pretty fair, there a several use cases which expose limitations. For instance, let's say 4 days of intense play that would exhaust this SP pool. If the 4 days you play happen to span Sunday-Wednesday then you'll never experience the SP limitation, although many others would. The arbitrary timing of the full SP pool refresh does not restrict all players equally and would also lead to distortion of playing behaviours in order to min/max.
Instead, the pool should receive a top up every hour or so, going no higher than the standard weekly limit. For example, let's say the SP pool was 168k SP then every hour an additional 1k gets added to the SP pool for you to (potentially) earn in combat.
If you manage to exhaust the SP pool with heavy play then the next day (the very next hour even) you have some more SP available to earn. Everyone still has the same weekly limit of SP that they can earn, but you'll never hit a point where it's practically pointless to play for a few days until the reset.
For an example of a game which has implemented this example style, please see Urban Dead: http://www.urbandead.com/faq.html#ap
Action Points are refilled at +1 AP every half hour, up to a max of 50. Players can either play once per day using them all up in once go. Or they can spread out how they spend the AP. The analogy to playing Dust either every day or only a day or two per week is obvious.
The benefit of this system is that everytime you come back to the game after a break you have some more SP to earn from your SP pool. And the system doesn't benefit casual players over hardcore players over the other or vice versa.
