There was a long thread in the past about spawn camping. Many/most people on that thread seemed to agree with you, some thought it should be perfectly fine. I'm in the former camp-- spawn camping allows a few to make the game completely un-fun.
My personal favorite solution is that we should be launched from the spawn points in a ballistic trajectory of our choosing with some relatively short range :) |

i think he means, that they were down to their original spawn point with no other chance to spawn. Happened to me once, but then i was luckily able to get through and deliver a droplink outside the danger zone. We lost though but man this was a great feeling to break through the barrage :D |

it's not camping when your standing at the border begging them to come over and play.instead of getting out of the spawn they hide and cry , maybe toss a grenade and hope for the best.IF YOU ARE BEING SPAWN CAMPED then you are on the weaker team either because of you or in spite of you.i have camped and been camped, only difference between others and myself is that i man up and deal with it either by getting out and putting out droplinks or by thinning the herd enough for my team to cut through. But not by complaining about my inability to adjust to the situation at hand. |

You misunderstand bud, it's quite easy to adapt.
What we are saying is it having a single spawn point makes recapturing a node 10x more difficult if a tankadin is rockin a heavy machine gun at your back the moment you pop up.
So you adapt and spawn for 20 sec or spawn 20 sec away.
Either make the node recapturing moot.
We don't get angry at the campers for their 'ingenuity', were frustrated with the lack of foresight in CCP. |

i suppose you are right because i only put droplinks in open areas of the map so they can be seen from near and far.i would never think to hide them in a rarley used area of the map or way behind enemy lines where they are no longer spawning.or egad behind something..heaven forbid. |

It doesn't matter where you put them. When a dropship is camping A-point from the top of the tower while a tank and 2 enemy infantry camp the A-point spawn with remote explosives, you're gonna have a REALLY hard time recapturing, even if you manage to get the team to work together from another spawn point. What's worse is that with a full team, the enemy can set this up at each capture point and still have a couple of floaters around the map taking out stragglers and your precious droplinks. Fact of the matter is, one static spawn point in each zone breaks the game.

ive thought about this and know wot u mean
when u spawn at lets say terminal B theres litrally only 1 spawn point and its frequantly camped i dont really care for camping like most others ive done it and been a victim of it
my idea to stop it at control points or at least make it harder why not add 2 or 3 spawn points at that terminal and randomize the position the player spawns therfore making the enemy need to use 2-3 guys to camp it while it is turning from red to blue
thats my opinion anway |

I can't decide what's funnier: the fact that you try to be sarcastic or that your sarcasm contradicts itself. The only dumb responses here are yours, since you think that camping equates to skill and/or in-game creativity. Even gate camping in EVE is more reasonable than in DUST since ships come out of a jump randomly around the gate; they could be 5 meters from you, they could be 10 kilometers, depending on your placement. Distance determines feasibility of the gank, you see, as it does in DUST. But if you keep funneling players through the same spawn point you remove the uncertainty and one idiot with tank can hold it for several minutes.
You seem to think that we all complain that recovery is impossible. No, it's not. But the time gains from camping (and conversely, the losses for the camped team) are too great to be balanced. Why put recapturing in the game if you can't stay alive long enough to do it?
Hell, you KNOW it's camping when the enemy doesn't even have a particular capture point but is mowing down your team from the tower anyways. It blows their kills and subsequent skill gains out of proportion. The unbalance continues.
And for the record, I NEVER begged for anything. On the contrary, I pointed out a flaw in the design of a game in BETA. You know, the phase where we find these bugs and report on them, like we all did here?

That's not a fix, the fix would be to add more spawn points, plain and simple. Skill has nothing to do with it, as I mentioned, because you don't get the chance to even move before a remote explosive blows you to kingdom come. Then it's another 10-20 seconds in the queue. If I were dying because of my skill, I wouldn't be complaining. But again, skill is NOT involved.
And also like I said, you can have all the spawn points and still get camped by a dropship on the tower. He'll rack up kills and get rewarded with ridiculous amounts of SP, while the victims of the camp get nothing. THAT'S where the imbalance comes in.
Predicted response: "Then get another dropship and go up to kill him." Great, will do, after another 10-20 seconds in spawn and then another 10-20 seconds waiting for the dropship. More time that could be spent playing and enjoying the game rather than having to quick-fix something that shouldn't exist in it at all. Predicted response: "The point isn't to have fun, it's to win. If you can't, your skill isn't up to par." Definition of GAME from Websters: "activity engaged in for diversion or amusement." I play for entertainment, enjoyment, fun. Everyone does, let's be honest. I'm not saying to make everyone winners so the game is more fun, get over yourself. I'm saying fix an exploit with the game so we can all get on with the beta and enjoy our time with it.
Last I checked, when a player can use a particular tactic to get dozens of kills without much consequence, it's called an exploit. |

let me point something out that you may not be privy to..the point of the beta is to play as you would if it were the finished product.do everything you can to stress the server and in general do all the things the devs never thought you would.then point out what you think may be wrong or offer suggestions for possible fixx's.now as for your exploit explaination i use my particular gun tactic (run around and murder at will) without much consequence...does this mean i am an exploit worthy of being "fixed" or am i unbalanced?and by the way just get a drop ship and go kill that guy....and also just remember 2nd place is just the first loser. |

Allow me to point something out....
Let's say there's a noob who's come in to play for the very first time. First couple of games, he gets spawn camped, and dies a total of about 30-40 times. Entirely feasible, yes? So he thinks that "Great, this game is all about spawn camping. I'm not having fun, therefore I won't play again." This will be an hour that a new player has played, and then he tells his friends and goes on forums, sharing his horrible experience. People will tell him "get good", but if he's spawn camped... What can he do? I mean, really, if you die within half a second, even with uplinks, dropships, etc, etc, you won't have a very good time. What's to say that after release, all the beta people come back (with decent knowledge about the game, and its mechanics) and completely faceroll the noobs? That will leave a very small community indeed, and neither CCP nor Sony want it. It would effectively RUIN PI, alliance warfare, and consequently nullsec for EVE online too.
In short, CCP are taking a massive risk by launching DUST fully integrated into EVE. Good in concept, but if they don't get all the kinks sorted, they will ruin both of their games. A lot of people WILL see the ability to spawn camp as a kink, so CCP are facing a massive risk if they don't get it right.
So before you go on about how life's unfair and therefore this game should be too, take into account the whole picture. We're giving feedback to CCP so they can fix something before release so that their fanbase has the best time possible, rather than lose a lot of potential customers. |

As I pointed out earlier, I'm quite aware of what a beta is and what it's for. That's why I posted on this thread, because camping is an exploit that should be fixed in the finished product. |

This is a good point, I agree. It's already quite difficult to introduce new players to EVE, and this game may make it even harder (ex. significant skill-point differences between veterans and newbies, steep learning/difficulty curves, etc.). |

... I could keep saying use mobil links and vehicle cru's, but it's getting old. Here's some advice, don't spawn at any place that beings with the letter's A, B, and C, and you'll do fine--unless of course, you've been pushed all the way back to the unmarked defenders spot. (I love getting an enemy team to that point, but it's a hell-of-a-thing to recover from if you're on the receiving in on this map.) I think this map could use some tweaking to make the unmarked positions more defensible, and impossible for all out barrage, allowing for breakouts to occur. The attacking team's default position isn't so well defensible, but, because it's a big open field, it's harder to predict which direction they will take to get back in the game. However, the defenders though are practically funneled into a kill box once they are pushed far enough back. |
