Allow me to point something out....
Let's say there's a noob who's come in to play for the very first time. First couple of games, he gets spawn camped, and dies a total of about 30-40 times. Entirely feasible, yes? So he thinks that "Great, this game is all about spawn camping. I'm not having fun, therefore I won't play again." This will be an hour that a new player has played, and then he tells his friends and goes on forums, sharing his horrible experience. People will tell him "get good", but if he's spawn camped... What can he do? I mean, really, if you die within half a second, even with uplinks, dropships, etc, etc, you won't have a very good time. What's to say that after release, all the beta people come back (with decent knowledge about the game, and its mechanics) and completely faceroll the noobs? That will leave a very small community indeed, and neither CCP nor Sony want it. It would effectively RUIN PI, alliance warfare, and consequently nullsec for EVE online too.
In short, CCP are taking a massive risk by launching DUST fully integrated into EVE. Good in concept, but if they don't get all the kinks sorted, they will ruin both of their games. A lot of people WILL see the ability to spawn camp as a kink, so CCP are facing a massive risk if they don't get it right.
So before you go on about how life's unfair and therefore this game should be too, take into account the whole picture. We're giving feedback to CCP so they can fix something before release so that their fanbase has the best time possible, rather than lose a lot of potential customers. |
