Well, I have seen a few FPS communities really unite and have a huge passion behind their faction and clan.
And I think devs will try to incorporate Dust into EVE so that it makes a splash so even a small clan will be funded and used by an EVE clan of sorts.
CCP should make it where they (EVE players) need us (Dusters) more than we need them. |

This is true, we would have all post here and meets would take place in PSN Home by invite only. State only your PS3 Tag and Dust tag and with the DUST contact list I can see if the names are linked.

If you want to edit the original post, then make a note here in this Thread that it is obsolete, as it cannot be updated, then copy-paste a quote of your original text into a new Thread, be sure to include information that the other thread is now outdated because it cannot be altered.
Edit: Also instead of simply stating "Updated" you can put the date of the update so:"Updated on: June 27" or something so that if you get locked out again by another reset the date will hopefully clue people in that its older. |

Honestly, who cares what a couple people think?
If they aren't going to take our benefits seriously, then it's our job to enlighten them.
We'll be hired out to smaller corporations who are itching to get up to the upper tiers of null sec.
When we take their planets and use them against them and take their territory, then they'll consider hiring mercs against us. Then they'll learn to take us seriously. |

Of course we will be able to - This is a major selling point of Dust.
Remember Goons are just one alliance of the 100's in Eve, each alliance is made up of numerous corp's (clans), I'd imagine all these corps will be able to interact with Dust corp's individually, CCP know what they are doing. 90% of Dust players will probably have ZERO contact with goons on a regular basis especially if they don't want it, there are hundreds if not thousands of people we would be able to work for/against instead if you wanted to keep clear of the Goons.
All the main alliances have people in the Beta - You are kidding yourself if you think otherwise. I know I'm from one of them, and there are at least 5 more just from my corp, never mind the alliance.
This link will give all you non Eve guys some idea of just how many alliances there are and this is only the top few.

The hardest thing about a goon. Getting the goon out of the goon after he's not a goon anymore.

The goonswarm in EVE may be big, but they don't run crap. If you don't like it quit, and if you can't adapt, die.

FPS players who are objective orientated and more concious of the goal than the killing will most likely mobilise one hell of a fighting force.
Owning a MIC and setting a squad commander/working as a unit will put us much further ahead, the power of teamwork never fails, even on "Kill Consuming" games such as Call of Duty those who work as a team tend to dominate |

console FPS had lots of successful clans and groups. the problem is almost no games has any tools to support clans any more, no I am not talking private matches.
On the original xbox Battlefield 2 modern combat had a great clan system, you sent invites like friend invites, to get into a clan match you would put a map and hit start, when another clan accepted the game was on, you could then send a message to all your other clan members to get in the match to win
these days nothing is in the game. the only things you can really do are useless clan tags. |

With a few unknowns in dust (like how exactly dust will matter to EVE players). I plan on just learning the various skills and possible builds that will work with my style of play. So I can careless what some zerg guild like goon thinks.
One thing I do know is who ever wants to try and screw with Dust players will find we can be equally creative in getting back at people/clans/alliances |

Even if Planet SOV doesnGÇÖt affect System SOV directly, it will still effect it in other aspects. Capsuleers are right in not wanting us to organize because if we do and implement the right know how to these planets in Nul Sec, will do damage. This will force them to hire mercs and bring on the battles. Will show our worth. |

I've never played EvE, but this thread ignites a lot of wishful thinking. And whether we want to or not, us mercs are going to have to organize to protect our interests in the EvE universe - our universe, once the two games merge. From what has been said here and from a little wiki reading, it is a cold and cutthroat place indeed.
Maybe the best way to prepare would be less shooting and more brushing up on Machiavelli's the Prince.
Teamwork, organization, and avoiding pissing off powerful trolls should be the important first steps. L33t gun game comes after.

Let them talk. We will give them results. Almost every hardcore "team oriented" FPS player will be tuning into DUST. I personally know a lot of xbox gamers even getting a PS3 for DUST (I've been trying to spread the word). I think DUST will bring in the brightest minds in FPS gaming and we will unite for a common goal and our goal is simple......Not only are FPS players competitive and serious but us "console gamers" mean business.

If there is isk to be made fom it, or ways to cause their enemies to shed tears, you can be sure goons will have at least one corp dedicated to the whole process. This will include dust once dust actually matters to eve. If they are talking trash about dust, I'm guessing it has something more to do with their multibox multiscreen eve stations being complete useless for an fps environment. In eve a good pilot can manage multiple ships, in multiple clients, I've heard of some manage four ore more accounts in combat. That just won't be doable in dust 514. |

Millions play fps games. So even if a satistical fraction of that player base gets hooked on dust 514 it could double the ccp fan base. It doesn't have to appeal to all of them to be succesful it just has to find and hold on to its niche. |

Wow.. you guys are still talking about this. Impressive.
I was hard core into eve like 6 years ago, still have 2 accounts active in wormhole space but hardly log on anymore. I do hate the goons though due to their general asshat attidudes..
it will be interesting to see how much of an impact Dust will have at launch. I would recommend watching all Dust related videos from EVE Fanfest. by the sounds of things, CCP will be taking a slow approach to any meaningful connections. their attitude seems to be both games can exist without the other at launch. so don't get your hopes up too high guys.. |

That and Musashi's Book of 5 Rings. Gotta respect a man who overcomes a Long katana with a longer Carved Boat-Oar.
The important thing in strategy is to suppress the enemy's useful actions but allow his useless actions. However, doing this alone is defensive. First, you must act according to the Way, suppressing the enemy's techniques, foiling his plans and thence command him directly. ~ Musashi.

I'd like to explain my thoughts on Established EvE clans vs FPS clans/Coalitions. In an Youtube short film format.
(Scene opens on a secure chat channel between the officers and leader of DUST FPS only Corp, Rage Against eh Vending Machine [RATVM])
[RATVM] Clan leader:...ok, so we're in place to hit the jungle planet and put a hurt that Large EvE corp MegaSuck [MSUCK] How many guys do we have online in the Ambush/Casuals corp in our coalition? [RATVM] Officer: Five Hundred Twenty Seven. [RATVM] Clan leader: Ok, put out a CTA and wormhole em through, we got eyes topside?
(Scene switches to a small fast flying ship with minimal targeting signature flying around in space) A second [RATVM] Officer: Yeah I'm in system, no activity up here, there's like 15 of em up here AFK Mining with (Large ship) flying cap, might just be a couple of guys multi-ing.
(Scene switches back to the chat room on a secure chat channel between the officers and leader of DUST FPS only Corp, Rage Against eh Vending Machine [RATVM]) First [RATVM] Officer: Ok, the scrubs are inbound planet side, got most of that world covered right now. [RATVM] Clan leader: Alright, let's send our guys in to clean up where ever we need to plug a hole.
(Scene switches to a secure chat channel between three members of [MSUCK]) [MSUCK] Mining Foreman:...so then he redoes his spec, comes back, and I STILL one shot him... All three [MSUCK]:(Laughter and guffaws) First [MSUCK] Hulk Pilot: What's this message I'm getting...."Alert...local...planet..." Second [MSUCK] Hulk Pilot: I'm getting it too.... [MSUCK] Mining Foreman: Oh SNAP!!! CTA!!! CTA!!!! we need every swinging **** we can find!!
(Scene cuts to Holographic Sir Alec Guinness) Guinness (breaking the fourth wall and narrating as battle scenes from the DUST ground action slowly fade on and off the screen from left to right): The mighty forces of [MSUCK] indeed put forth a call to arms to all of their online brothers in arms. But many ignored it. Some ignored it because they simply could not be bothered, many could do nothing because they had no PS3's. And many were far too busy in EvE...gate camping haulers in Low Sec with T2 guns support ships. Those that did respond showed up far too late and in too few a number, They tried to delay wave after wave of attackers, trying to buy time for their capital ships to get into orbit over the planet to unleash an orbital strike, which was [MSUCK}s prefered defense against planetside attacks Only to discover that in the time it took the Titans to get there, the DUST mercenaries had installed Titan Killers, and the ships above, not able to determine where the Ttian Kilers were, fell to ground forces as well.
The Stalwart FPS corp held the planet for three days, despite heavy resistance from [MSUCK]. The EvE capsuleers simply could not match the pure FPS numbers and tenacity. It became obvious that they would have to employee a mercenary force of their own.
But before this could happen, a rival EvE corp, The Living Ganked [THELG] made a move towards [MSUCK]'s territory on another front. [MSUCK] desperately in need of the resources provided by the planet they had so inadequately defended, tried to make a deal with the DUST mercs in [RATVM].
(Scene switches to a mutually unsecure chat with [RATVM] Clan leader and [MSUCK] Clan leader)
[MSUCK] Clan leader: Ok, how much is it going to take to make you go away? [RATVM] Clan leader: 10 Trillion [MSUCK] Clan leader: WHAT? [RATVM] Clan leader: Welcome to the NEW New Eden.
-fin-
it could happen. Not that I've thought about it
