The second DUST players can have some form of control over their own Wardecs I'm proposing a full on Spartacus raid. We're gonna' pick a system as A, and one as B, and we're gonna' burn absolutely everything in a straight line between the two just for ***** and giggles. |

Two Capsuleers in EVE...
"Hey Joe, want to go trash some Dust Bunnies?"
"Sure, what's the plan?"
"I'll hire an attack force, you hire the defenders. I'll just give the attackers enough resources to get going. You give your guys everything they need and more. If my guys start to get the upper hand I'll nuke them from orbit."
"Sound's like fun, next time I'll play the attackers!'
I suspect most DUST 514 players wouldn't like to be the pieces in those kinds of games. But I could certainly be wrong. Being the playthings of our Capsuleer overlords might appeal to some folk.

And that's exactly the point of my earlier post (and a lot of the other comments in this thread). For DUST 514 to be satisfying at a lot of levels it has to have important ways to hurt or help other thing's going on in the EVE universe. It can't be a one-way-street where the EVE players call all the shots.
Not that just slinging lead isn't fun. But if the DUST 514 Corp doesn't own the territory then they can't place the guns and they can't turn them skyward. Those corps are just bullets in someone else's guns. |

Problem with this is that travel between systems hasn't been entirely hashed out. But seeing as you'll be flying through space, I imagine there will be a way for the war barges to be headed off by capsuleers. And while the war barges are significant, I'm sure, I doubt they'd stand up, even en masse, against a titan fleet. Which means you might not want to just look at Eve players as simply a paycheck.

From my understanding, War Barges will Bridge in a way to the planet and at first will be unbeatable by any EVE ship.

also, I would just like to point out that orbital strikes can only be issued by commanders. Those commanders also need to paint the area where they want to be struck. So we probably wont be seeing and orbital friendly fire.

Also, I'm operating under the assumption that the FPSers who are dissing the Goons ARE Goonswarm (or their friends, TEST, or other CFC alliances). We know Goons and TEST are among the Beta testers. We know that there are a LOT of FPS players on the Something Awful forums that spawned Goonswarm (no, couldn't tell you their clans, sorry). And the only people here trolling like a mid-range Goon are the FPSers trash-talking the Goons, while no Goons seem otherwise in evidence. It looks funny. So i assume the trash-talkers ~ARE~ GS/SA.
Nota bene:
"Mid-range" doesn't mean Weaselior or The Mittani, who are both skilled worsdmiths -- though I've seen even The Mittani take a moment to explain to a noob ice miner what was going on, and the noob should join EVE University, etc (I was on a neutral alt "liberating" the ice left behind during the Gallente Ice Interdiction). Troll or no, even Goons are more complex than they seem at first. |
