I DNS, And how a Podcast ended the alliance. - EoN has recently just fallen a part, following Imps down the path of **** You CCP. In an attempt to keep things together, Cubs formed MHPD - Moiden Heath Poice Department, with the remaining Teamplayer members and competitive EoN players, and set out to rebuild a team to keep EoN on the map. After a bumpy road and ups and downs with Ancient Exiles - MHPD disbands to officially declare EoN no more, the members of MHPD go through a transit until Kane, Cubs, and Regynum with the help of several NF and TP leftovers, formed ERA. ERA then launches a meta campaign to exemplify themselves as mercenaries, create relationships, and weak there enemies *Ancient Exiles*, building many friends a long the way. Around this time FA formed with Zatara and were quickly making a name for themselves. There efforts quickly putting them as a top contender alongside NF and AE. Soon, MH would be ripped by these three cooperations going at it. Each trying to be a mercenary group, and therefor, natural competitors and enemies. The forums would serve as the main battlefield as each of the group vied for community attention. Bartering and undercutting prices on districts and mercenaries costs, the efforts each group put down to come out on top was considerable, often overwhelming the War Room as trolling between the three groups intensified. Eventually, FA started gaining ground on both NF and AE forces after joining MH's EvE Powerhouse - General Tso's Alliance, and were winning over the community at the same time. Threatened by this upstart cooperation, several plans were put into motion. Some would take fruit - others would stop as soon as they started. One such plan that bore fruit was securing EvE support, a then vital resource for PC that often time decided a match. In doing so, NF tipped the scales back there way. And after several talks between Kujo and Kain - AE, with the rest of there alliance at the time, join DNS with ERA, who left NF. With NF and AE forces coming down on FA with superior EvE support, teams, and over-all talent count. FA's end was destined. Through tough negotiations by all parties, eventually a cease-fire and deal was cut - FA would join DNS, and MH would be a Vet only zone. Thus began the DNS reign of terror. Most corp who didn't abuse district glitching would be removed within a week, it would be a month before OH and WTF are removed, and longer for KEQ, who had taken the glitch the next level and were un-hittable. Before DNS could enjoy this reign - a division grew in DNS ranks, as once rivals kept to there flags inside the alliance. Trolling and fighting were common, interior affairs overwhlemed by how many people disliked each other. Then, DNS Black, leader of the DNS alliance, went on Podcast. What wasn't known among the majority of NF, AE, and FA players, was the plan DNS Black and a select other had set upon and not properly discussed with the rest of us. So when we heard on podcast what was planned, a rebellion occurred. ***** were lost, fucks were given, and someones dog was kicked. DNS breaks in 2 - AE,DB, NS, FA, Cap vs ERA and HvLP. It looked like NF and HvLP were going to win easily, having been preparing for the rebellion for months and preparing several teams. Ultimately, it was 1 ERA team, 2 HvLP teams, and one allied team, and one 'all star' team. Vs FA who couldn't field half a team, AE who could barely do half, Cap who had numbers but not the experience yet, DDB had a decent team and NS. However, leadership in NF ultimately didn't even want to hold onto the land, and realize by letting it go the effort of dealing with everything falls to the corps who actually owned the land. So NF took away all roles and let all there districts go without a fight. Thus ended DNS. You'll want to ask Zatara for his side of the story, as he's got some juicy info i'm missing, and there's bits i left off for obvious reasons.

With only a fleet of 40-50 ships the ROFL fleet was able to put down strikes while fighting a fleet of 150 from our competitors who only brought ships to fight us instead of provide strikes of their own. It is only because of the skill of our Fleet Commander Mitauchi that we minimized losses while putting down strikes, and taking out more ISK worth of their ships than we lost. When our scots noticed a fleet of 250 Goons closing in on the battle our fleets finally left to let our competitors be wiped out by the Goonswarm fleet. Anyone else here old enough to remember the beta and such? Anyone that was in STB who had a story from the other point of view?
I remember NumberZ tried making two or three different alliances before they finally had EoN. Anyone from that group back then remember really early stories?
I remember that NumberZ had asked PHI to join an alliance he was creating for DUST 514 before we joined with KEQ in getting old MAG groups to create ROFL.
He only asked us to join to tell us we had to try out and then say no. He was still mad from back when he was part of PHI and we refused to listen to his way of doing things. He left and made his own group with a few PHI who wanted to listen to him.
I guess that was part of the ancient history since it lead to drama during the formation of the DUST community. |

A couple of corrections,
As a matter of fact, the "bug" that allowed for infinite orbitals wasn't actually a bug. Its because I was playing with the zitro brothers at the time, arguably dust's best tag team in history, while the initial orbital setting was set ridiculously low. Mix that with carefully timed orders which where still largely unknown at the time for effecting WP gain, we could string OB after OB after OB. much fun! The worst but we found was the aptly named betamax circle jerk.
This was waaaaay back when dust was a lobby shooter. We would all enter a game with no one in it and then call down tanks. We would then make a circle alternating between teams. We would then shoot the enemy player across from the circle and the repair (there was a vehicle remote repair module back then)the one to the left. The result was that because this was when WP was very linked to sp gain, we where getting over 1 million sp per game!
Also the IRC was created during the first playable version of dust. It was secured so that only NDA'd peeps could enter.

I don't think there's been mention of my favorite moment in PFBHz history. I remembered imperfects as 3C from MAG and knew that they had a good amount of top tier players and got fairly familiarized with them from running into them in pubs. I remember being asked to get online for a match vs the imperfects and when I saw our team composition I was delighted. Then it was a question of who we were up against so when I got in waiting to deploy and saw their team I immediately knew it was going to be a good fight!
I've always been excited to play against protoman, back in MAG as well. When I first started playing Dust in the closed beta (joined way late though lol) he wrecked me pretty good and gave him some GG messages or w/e, hard to remember. I hadn't played against Reg but knew people talked about him being really good. Zitro and Noc were known for being tankers, and I knew HowDidThatTaste was an experienced heavy. Unfortunately Cyn and Sleepy Zan I didn't know much of but I knew Zan was a sniper and generally snipers don't worry me because you can usually avoid being sniped while holding objectives just fine.
I don't game as much as I used to because it seems harder for me to get excited over it, and there's been so few games that feel like they're worth spending the time into getting good at. This match was so exciting to me because the best feeling when playing FPS is when you KNOW your squad is good and you all have good chemistry together, working together as a cohesive unit. That's a great feeling that I have nostalgia for. But even then you need a good opposing team so it isn't a steam roll, so when I saw their team composition I knew it was going to be fun.
As for the details from the match as I recall.. Holding B was very difficult for the majority of the match, they seemed to have a tank on both sides of it and it's fairly open, so the splash damage was real. We ran into a lot of protoman, reg, howdidthattaste and omni zitro. Inhuman had found a great spot from up above to protect C I believe it was with a lazor which turned out to be pretty key to the victory. Once our anti-tank guys cleared out the tanks that were wrecking havoc at B it felt MUCH easier and that pretty much wrapped up the end of the battle with it being pretty close.
Usually when there's battles involving pretty big egos, there's trash talking afterwards. I was surprised to see a thread between us was made on the forums where everyone chimed in their GGs and talked about it, showing some sportsmanship. It would be a deep dig to find that thread though. |

Daddrobit wrote:Might I put in a few words on the dissolution of PFBHz?
Though a lot of people might like to think that we got ROFL-stomped, that simply was not the case as every match before the mass rage quit was still quite close on both MCC and on the clone front. The majority reason for why we lost was a misunderstanding of initial spawn in mechanics.
See, we didn't know to load in the fittings in the WB first while Hellstorm did. This lead us to load in 20+ seconds late allowing Hellstorm to take extremely hard control very early on in the matches with zero resistance.
Seeing every letter turn red while we were still only halfway across the map to our closest letter is more that just a little upsetting, but in the initial attacks on Hellstorm, we figured it as a mechanic of PC that the defenders started either closer to the letters, or they spawned in faster on the initial spawn in.
Following the 3 close games that were our failed attacks, we sat back and waited to be attacked, sure that it was just a defender mechanic that was giving them their lead. We were sure that with that mechanic on our side, it was going to be an easy win for when we had to defend.
So when we got attacked by Hellstorm, and they yet again took over the map while we were only halfway to our first letter, there were people who literally broke their controller. Some guys simply deleted dust right then and there, never to be seen again.
There is literally a thread on our private forums that came up a week later consisting mostly of facepalms titled "So... thats how they get to letters faster!!!?" when it finally came to light what was going on with our late spawn-ins, but by then, it was too late for the corp to come back.
Those losses came on top of the nasty internal strife centered around recruiting standards and weather or not we wanted to stay on Dust anyways because of how poorly CCP had handled the release of Uprising in the first place.
Uprising had already made several guys quit and had put many players more on the fence for staying loyal to the game for what was done to the aiming mechanics. If I might quote indy strizer on the first game played on its release,
"What the hell man, it's like my clone just duct taped his gun to his **** and is trying to aim by swinging it around."
That statement for those of you who didn't play at that time is more accurate that you can possibly know.
Just a bit of clarification for y'all.

This got patched because goonfeet did a mass test and quietly mass-reported it directly to feedback via email.
There was a bug that let you earn an OB and then immediately kill a blueberry for a deliberate -50 then earn 50 WP to earn the next OB.
CCP patched that SOB literally the next DAY.
The method is no longer valid and represents the only obnoxious thing in the game which at the time included nade ganking and pancaking that we unanimously decided was gamebreaking by my corp and sent the required feedback with video if I recall.
We pioneered most of the bluedot killing techniques, and I framed Songs of Seraphim and Jenza for the early and explosive raft of awoxing that we cut through the PC community.
Since hardly and in goonfeet play at all and none of our old dirty tricks are valid, I see no reason to keep it classified.
We actually gave up on PC because it wasn't fun.
WoW has taught me that Purple means Legendary. This means Quafe suits are the optimal loadout for killing all of you.

Close, but what really nerfed us was the destruction of the laser rifle. Our laser squads were literally the most broken thing this game has ever seen bar none.
You know that a weapon is broken when it's anti-infantry and has no bonus at all to kill vehicles, and yet you can still melt tanks with it.
We used to walk around melting everything that couldn't get behind a rock fast enough. And then when they tried to call in an LAV to run away/charge us, we would melt it before it hit the ground.
People who cry "X is OP" nowadays cannot even conceive of proper battlefield destruction by a singular weapon in such a manner that the old laser rifle exhibited.
Also, I used laser rifles from before they were cool.

If I wrote down the history of dust as I'm aware of it jesus...that'd be a long ass ******* story.
And I'd be as thorough as mentioning **** thats so in depth you'd need an appendix to go look up wtf I'm talking about when I write ****...like the time I tried to convince dubbs to make an alliance with 187. and pro hic so that eon wouldn't become unsustainably dominant...or the original one man farm district...aka Kaitlin Stacy Doo...I'd have to mention people you probably never got the pleasure to play with like PTSD or Coin...you'd get a big earful about how I didn't have the confidence to make FA, but the matches I lead and fced for Lol MHPD was the catalyst for skeletor and himiko to urge me to create a corp...and it wold have been called poonswarm if Skel had his way.
I'd have to show you the very first corp battle I ever played back when I was in subdreddit. And the nasty number if matches I loved playing with pal and csrsample for I'll omens because Nikia was the most chasimatic leader I ever knew. That man would **** on us all about how bad we were and we still loved him...I wasn't even in his ******* corp. I remember the team getting chewed out after a laggy match vs serephim and I'm sending and receiving hatemail with sha over his dual flaylcoks...and I thought to myself...I'm voluntarily allowing some other corp leader to rip me a new *******..I AIN'T EVEN MAD THAT'S AMAZING!
I'd have to remind you of the enormous efforts of deadeyes antiere in providing MH's amazing coverage early on...and id probably detail the various meta's and how it helped to propel certain corps to fortune and relevancy.
I'd touch on beta and the history I gleaned from others about pretty Jan 12th ;)...I'd probably even have to remind you about the TERRIBLE sp system we had back then...daily cap. I remember reg and I stressing about it
There's so many people that i crossed paths with at some poimt and cookiestein, piercing, hawkin, mavado, reg, sota, heim, skel, xero, ghost, dwater, tba, funk master whale...the list is literally so long it pains me to think about them because it's so ******* fleeting.
Nothing Ever Stays
So many of these people will never be more than a blip...and yet you have this feeling when you meet people...it's as if your own sense of loyalty weakens for a moment because the charisma these people have. You just want so badly to be friends with people like that.
Sure, no one is perfect...I'm the most insanely mistake prone tilting asshat who ever failblogged their way into an influential position.
I STILL think sometimes to those voices from subdreddit. DS, bears beets, ellithana mori...Ill probably never cross paths with any of them again. You know how many times I've had gershe or torr wrath on my mind and been sick thinking about the logs of **** my remaining friends passed on about what was said about me? So much cancer dude...was about as bad as when I was running for CPM and it was like a Republican convention with nut heads questioning my capacity to serve on the cpm because FA was in DNS...oh man.
I used to try to add the narwhal guard channel in game...and cry a little on the inside. Same with the TP channel when cubs kicked me over the peanuts amount of is I asked for to start FA since TP was dead. The word "nestegg" is now a euphemism for avarice. I literally thought of Cubs when I watched the battle of 5 armies lol. It's why respected kujo and emulated him so I too could claim to be the brokest CEO of dust.
For all the trolling I've earned in my time very little ever hurt as much as when someone you thought was your friend or you simply wanted badly to be friends with them...and yet ended up being nothing close.
Certain people hated me for being inclusive and for always taking the side of the one vs the many . But I've been on the side where you're a nobody who wants to pew pew with chill homies. And Ive been on the side where people with influence and tenure poison people against you. State property probably hasn't thought about me in years...and yet I think about so many cool people like coin and piercing in pfb Ive wanted to pop in to enjin and swe whats good. Another channel I haven't forgotten and mourn along with sand castles, plantains, narwhal guard, and many many more.
I don't hold it against state though..for all I know he's just a tad who mistook something I said..of was angry I joined TP so quickly after PFBHZ disbanded.
Only dude I'll ever consider hating is radar.
I'll always think of radar whenever people ask if I've ever hated someone on dust. I thought cubs had him all wrong...but he was exactly as advertised. When you sacrifice **** to do stuff for others only to have them spit in your face and then run back to blitz and others you look up and convince them of some dastardly plan involving ulterior motives??? Oh man...
I guess props to him when people acquiesce their skepticism you can be spoon fed anything. The people who believe radar about anything would make great scientologists.
Maybe it's just me but history is less about events and more about people.
I read briefly some of these other posts...like OH rewriting history about leaving the game for destiny when in reality OH became the very thing it despised and the result was cat dog and fusion coming back to FA...and we started face rolling OH...and then OH and FA quit. Yeah OH had been getting the best of us using our own players...but when fusion and doggy came back oh got rick rolled. OH hit FA in the midst of a rebuild and called us weak...boy the Ole pot calling the kettle black there...compare that to the way we treated OH when they were rebuilding...arms wide open. That was almost as disappointing as the way Cap repaid us for supporting their pleas to remain in TSO...despite it costing us a team players going to OH and elsewhere because they didn't want to be in a blue donut with cap.
I'm done drunk posting. Troll away.

I really have no idea when they were the majors, but I do remember being in both. Sadly it's the oldest player corporations I can remember.
I've been here the whole time, but I can not remember most of it. Although I do remember a lot of militia fits. If I search enough I can probably find a few names of older players if my girlfriend has not thrown them away already. Zion Shad was the CEO of Zion TCD. I was a co founder of L.O.T.I.S. (as well as the one who came up with the name, which is an actual acronym and not just a name with dots between the letters) alongside Free Healing, rebel scum22, Tech Ohm Eaven, BlackNinjaAntarez, Arimal Lavern, Valmar Shadereaver and a handful of others. Origionally we were U4A (Up For Anything) but when our CEO quit playing in October of 2012 we needed to form a new corp. Anyway, enough L.O.T.I.S. lore...
The oldest corps I can recall are Betamax Beta, SVER, Imperfects and Seraphim Initiative.

Statements like that first line are why this guy is among the literal HANDFUL of people whose ideologies mirrored mine, and philosophical conversations carried a certain depth/perception wherein an almost natural desire for the game's progression was quite apparent (the rest include Kujo, Soul, Tibs, Sax). Without which, I would never have seen myself on the same side as FA.
Funny, I had the pleasure of watching old IMP/PFB PC videos and the Urgent Fury TP/AE fights where Zatara was fighting just a few days ago. It made me realize: coming into dust the week of Uprising, building a corp out of Uprising babies....I was a shrimp among giants. The struggle to quarry a mole hill in the shadow of mansions. A pawn front lined by bishops, knights, queens, all the while having no idea I was playing a 2D chess game with people who could see the game board from above - marionettes of men. Though I may have carved what measly mark I could in our history, it means absolutely NOTHING without the PEOPLE who entrusted me to lead them; those who bought into a philosophy, a direction, a drive and directive. The guys who stuck around when you get removed from PC entirely. The guys who x'd up no matter the opponent, grinded when isk was scarce, followed FC orders to utter and certain demise.
I've wanted to create a memoir of my own, a chronicle of the claw up the hill to relevancy for Uprising and later-born clones against beta titans. I still remember my first PC against ProHic flaylock spam (hooray 2 mil sp)...DDB attempting to extort me 200 mil to keep my first district off Altbrard....Cubs trying to sell me insurance packages, and my refusal leading to inevitable attack by premium level corps...NS telling me I would be spared if I left Public Disorder...the flak I received for joining Renegade...and everything in between. Many of you vets have no idea what it was like starting below the bottom. None of it matters. I always strive to give danger the finger, not to straddle the incumbent powerhouse, and face fights with what I had in the corp toolbox.
Zat can be the first to confirm, the ins and outs of leadership in the MH world is a saga in itself. The shady deals, pursuit of the almighty isk, blue-ing, red-ing, "gray"-ing. Those moments where one decision literally was the fate of a corporation in its entirety, whether on the district or in the diplo. In reality, for a leader like those I listed, I know one thing is for sure: everything is for the men. Every fight with my ex, the bar nights skipped, the 10+ hours of dust daily, the list goes on -- all to ensure an enjoyable and memorable experience for the guys you've come to love on your team.
The sad state of this game...it pains me so. A dream literally reduced to ashes. To see my passion atrophy with each hotfix, die a little more inside when each guy moves on. Hard to keep everyone together moving forward. This game has been one long production, with everyone a character in their own right. I struggle to remember even the most key guys from the past.
I will settle one score while I'm here. I remember quite clearly the day you told me we would be red Zat, I would be removed from Tso's. At the time, OH was smashing us on the daily, and FA was no showing their own battles vs OH. True as it may have been some players moved to OH from FA I can't confirm or deny as the dates are sketchy at best. However, if Tiberius and Roman were here they would both attest (I would bet my bottom isk on it)....when we started beating OH and ERA on at the very least a consistent 50%+ basis, I never again heard anything about removal from the alliance out of you again. We were the only corp in Tso's capable of winning at all, let alone staying competitive against the two. Tibs said it himself in the many conversations we had quite plainly: "CAP is the only corp that will field and fight, no matter what - no drama."
To continue, I question this if you say we caused Tso's to be a blue donut: why would MuLa have been let in after all of this went down? As I was informed upon my return, it was an alliance leadership vote that permitted Roman to join Tso's (my guys voted no, but were outnumbered). Tso's was scared of Pure Evil (maybe OH as well, idk if they were dead yet), and wanted to REMAIN a donut. I told you time and time again when I came back: your leadership circle disgusted me, and you were the ONLY guy I sincerely respected (maybe Kaisar or Skel too, can't remember). My actions in dissolving Tso's was essentially the death penalty for FA mass farming, Roman blue-donut strangle hold, and pleas from my men to open MH up.
Water under the bridge.
I do envy the earlier experiences guys like you had when I was an irrelevant 500k sp headless chicken. Without leaders like yourself and others, and men to follow them, all of this means nothing. A cordial bow to all the backstage crew, the guys whose names won't be remembered by all...
Yes, this post was a bit scattered....so much more to say, but character limit reached. Enjoy! |

I think you got the Kaisar respect later, when Zatara was gone and during rebuilding.
Everyone was bashing on FA, but I basically kept telling everyone that FA wouldn't die, we would take every loss, learn, improve and come right back.
I think the exact quote was "Kaisar is the only of one of you who still had a pair".
It was either you or John ShepardIII, can't exactly remember. This was a long time ago.

Can I just say that the portion towards the end is rather elegant and persuasive

-sigh- very few people know wtf you're talking about. And even then there's distinctions between CEO's, CEO's of PC corps...and CEO's of PC corps that actually have enough clout to effect their destiny. Getting in fights with your wife and failing over and over to explain why you care so much about a damn PC fight and the number of times my friends would complain that I was't going to [insert event here] because i had **** to get done on dust...trying to strike a balance between Rl and the demands of being a CEO...especially in a corp where you haven't quite gotten leadership to the point where the corp will function without you...it's a weight on your chest like nothing else.
in short: Confirmed
Quote:I remember quite clearly the day you told me we would be red Zat, I would be removed from Tso's. At the time, OH was smashing us on the daily, and FA was no showing their own battles vs OH.
Actually it was like 2 weeks after DNS imploded and I was still in the failed attempt that was TLoD iirc. I really want to check the logs on this if possible because I could have sworn it was in mid June...which was really pre OH issues, we were still at the tail end of removing HVLP and losing 60% of our battles vs ERA in the wake of FA's a-team leaving the game post red wedding and the AE fusion not really working out.
Think logically about that time. I'd told Kujo that after DNS was gone Renegade would leave Tso's and go their way. OH wasn't really an issue until AFTER I lost even more players. They became a problem when I went back to FA.
I honestly recall it being a situation where...I honestly loved Cap aside from Noneck (and I had frost kitty still so who was I to talk) I always thought really highly of you which is why it hurt when **** got nasty toward me when I really didn't want it that way.
We weren't no showing battles vs OH until full rebuild happened which is when Skel took over as CEo when I went on vacation in July to go visit my wife's grandfather who'd had a stroke. I came back and Skel had mostly righted the ship in my absence. I was there for the OH no shows for about 3 days before I left...and we just didn't have the players. Activity then was so damn low. This was before Devin even came over iirc. When Devin and their crew came...that was the shot in the arm we desperately needed to have a consistent 16 on. We lacked ADS hard in those days and Doc was really giving it everything but he just wasn't enough by himself. Derrith was for w/e reason super infrequent.
To be more brief. When I relented and agreed to keep Cap and co in Tso's...we were in no way getting **** on by OH. FA wasn't even fighting OH till after ERA imploded...and the reason OH came at FA according to Tibs...because we were a blue donut.
We were losing to ERA after they merged with HVLP with TLoD failing in most respects. You say you never heard of being kicked out again and make an insinuation that it had to do with the fact you were fairly even with OH/ERA. The absence of the notion of kicking Renegade corps is not proof we felt the necessity t keep you. I told you you could stay...I never thought anything else of it after until Cap left TSO's. Once I said you were in...I was all in. And I would have defended keeping Cap even if we'd all lost all of our districts.
Allowing Roman to join wasn't my call. I think you would remember how much my favorability rating toward roman had changed because of the way he acted in ERA.
Furthermore...I never said you caused Tso's to be a blue donut. Others of my corp left because that was their feeling.
I can't say definitively Tso's would not have been a blue donut even if all the RA corps had left, that's a whole lot of speculation I don't care to engage in.
Tso's was never scared of PE...at least I wasn't...hell I had no qualms taking their districts and we forced them off the map without incident. I didn't want it that way..I just wanted the Kad district they took from Tso's. But rampy wanted a war and he bit off more than he could chew.
Fast forward to leadership issues between Cap and FA..this is where I really have to go with you on this. Lags and Devin wanted to farm and I can't backseat drive from Destiny..when I came back to dust the damage in my eyes was pretty well done. Water under the bridge indeed.

Tp's Jreaper accidentally/intentionally starting a war against his own Corp/Alliance that ultimately had more influence than could have been dreamt of.
If I'm not mistaken, I believe that event popularized locking, got the majority of EoN. that were still playing burnt out, and disillusioned the scrub mob from the idea that numbers meant anything.
I don't think that Jreap could have influenced the game any more if he actually tried.
And for the record: we won when we had DJ Hellsreaper and we lost when we didnt... Excellent player, calming influence, understated when angry. One of the most underrated players in dust.
