The beginning:
A couple years before the release of Chromosome several groups from the game MAG started to talk about this game that CCP was creating. They were all talking to a guy who played EVE and wanted to form an alliance of FPS groups to be prepared for this new game. Mitauchi, from EVE, reached out to Stylie, the leader of KEQ from MAG, about doing this. KEQ leadership then talked to other clans they knew from MAG and some of began our alliance. I cam to this group representing PHI (Pro Hic Immortalis).
RISE of LEGION:
Many of the representatives from these different clans made EVE accounts and started learning New Eden from the inside. We had our own TeamSpeak servers and were able to talk to our veteran EVE players and learn quickly. After a lot of growth in EVE we finally created the corps in New Eden that the old clans would move into when DUST released. We then created our alliance on 2012-01-07.
RISE of LEGIONThis allowed us to have a logo set by the time the game came out and be fully prepared as the first DUST 514 alliance. We were ready and established to go for day one well in advance.
HiveMind:
Another set of corps had decided to do something similar. They formed an alliance that was not official, or part of New Eden. They did start to create corps in New Eden though. Their leader went by the name HiveMind. The main corp in their alliance was STB. They were the only rivals we could see for us at the time that were trying to organise in new Eden ahead of time. We of course implanted some spies, as this is New Eden, and learned that their leader had already decided we were enemies and wanted to destroy ROFL.
After learning this we decided to welcome them to New Eden officially. We made some fleets and found their locations and started to pick off their pilots. They acted as if te attacks were unprovoked, and showed that the new DUST community should see ROFL as a bad group. They tried to cry to the media that was starting out at the time, the GNN. They then paid a mercenary group to try to fight us for them in EVE. We went back to our homes in Null Sec, and awaited the fights, but the mercenaries had just taken their money and never tried to fight us.
DUST 514 Tournament:
During the Chromosome beta testing there was a tournament that was put on. EVEbet.com was taking ISK for bets. It was actually a very well organised tournament that allowed for orbital strikes. Kane Spero was involved and did a great job with the event. As I had worked with the PFBHz before in MAg I knew their skill. I put a lot of ISK on that tournament. I bet on many matches having known the corps form the past.
During the last match the PFBHz were in for a good fight, and we wanted to put down strikes from above and show that we were more than just our ground troops. With only a fleet of 40-50 ships the ROFL fleet was able to put down strikes while fighting a fleet of 150 from our competitors who only brought ships to fight us instead of provide strikes of their own. It is only because of the skill of our Fleet Commander Mitauchi that we minimized losses while putting down strikes, and taking out more ISK worth of their ships than we lost. When our scots noticed a fleet of 250 Goons closing in on the battle our fleets finally left to let our competitors be wiped out by the Goonswarm fleet.
The PFBHz took the win on the ground of course. It was a good fight on the ground from what I have heard.
PFBHz vs STB Tournament Finale^ Great moment in DUST history.
Pro Hic Immortalis and the Uprising:
I had a great time fighting with PHI. I thought I should include a highlight real of my time with PHI in DUST 514.
First District Taken by PHIPHI vs Nyain SanPHI vs BurgezzE.T.F.PHI vs PRO/BHDROFL Today:
The oldest and longest alliance in DUST 514, ROFL still is around today. Although much different from its original form, the culture that ROFL created has allowed to to continue on.
