To continue where Aeon left off -
UPRISING LAUNCHES - War, Meta, and CCP'd
As a sick joke CCP 'commercially' launches Dust 514 on May, 15, 2014. 5/14/2014. Giving to us a major over-haul to pretty much everything, and leave every suit feeling weak besides the overwhelming FOTM's and Slayer Logi's. A week later, PC launches.
Corps begin there land grab, europeans being given a hefty advantage of 5 minutes in there choices due to how CCP made it available. Betamax, SI, and other european cooperations take advantage of this and become the largest land holders right off the bat - making billions off of CCP's mistake or lack of foresight.
CRONOS is created to ensure there continued farming and mutual defenses between the Europeans, they ally the American ran but European controlled alliance Orion run by Delta Force who hadn't grabbed nearly as much land, but had many more players.
The two buckle down, though separated on the map, and prepare for EoN, Loi, STB, and NF forces that had begun speaking openly on the forums about the Europeans massive holding and ISK productions.
EoN forces begin there invasions first, starting the First Dusty Wars. R*, SyN, Ill Omens, among 2-3 other well known cooperations at the time comprised of it's vanguard forces, launching on any available CRONOS district around, and laying claim to the South Western parts of MH as there home territory. Loi declare intentions to join the fray on EoN's side - but Orion forces engage them in response, pinning them down as Orion hired back then top corp, Pink Fluffy Bounty Hunterz, to help hold the lines.
STB mostly stays out of the conflict, remaining vocal but abstinent. NF engages in talks with EoN and other forces to strike a mercenary contract to enter the fray on EoN's side.
War continue to escalate and involve more cooperations as CRONOS became comfy with there land holding advantage and began attacking corps like War Raven. The war was looking bleak for the americans as europeans iSK advantage continued to grow.
Though our capacity to fight was lower back then, the war made sure content was always available. As the EoN and CRONOS war began to heat up - Orion began it's invasion of the Imperfects home world, Hrober, located just a little north of EoN's base of operations, bringing NF into the war in a more dedicated manner.
A coalition was then formed between all competent american corperations, and named by Free Beers - Nerds Who Loves Boobs Coalition. Efforts to take down Orion and CRONOS were beginning to grind on CRONOS forces, overwhelmed by how many players they were fighting with no breaks even in there own time zones. Burn out began rearing it's ugly head. Even if they won all there games, they couldn't keep up with flood of games coming, and it was obvious CRONOS allies, Orion, could not keep up in the war any longer.
Every day 5 to 10 districts would flip, and this was back when it would take 3 days to flip a district. The numbers continued to heat up as more corps joined the fray on both sides, but many more still wanting to remain neutral. They will find out soon that neutrality is hard to keep.
After a month of warfare, Orion crumbles to NF and LoI forces, Delta Force smashed and turned into a shell of a corp. Efforts were doubled up on CRONOS, and the war finally began to shift in American's favor.
Some time would pass before CRONOS declares burn out and let's go most of it's holding. Thus the first war of Dust had ended, and EoN begins it's land grab. Leading to the Second Dusty Wars known fondly as, The Eon Wars, and possibly the largest war in dust's history. |

Aeon Amadi wrote:More details about Mordu's Trials/Codex/Chromosome that come to mind: - RDVs that were easier to kill than tanks. - Disco tanks (tanks would land upside down and spin around like a top killing everything in their path and awarding the enemy team with kills) - Light poles that would insta-kill tanks on collision - Dropships that didn't have collision damage flying around running people over - Small Turret Installations with forward facing shields that guarded the gunner (could only be attacked from behind) - Bunker installations (turrets would have small walls infantry could hide behind) - Random note; I ran a Cal Assault with x4 Armor Repairers because hit detection was so bad I could rep-tank. - Different weapon sounds - CCP being completely indecisive with what they wanted the Assault Rifle sights to look like (went from Camera Sights, to horrible iron sights, to the iron sights we have now). - Laser Rifles being 100% OP being able to kill players just by touching them with the laser beam - Equipment would 'slide' down hills until they either exploded or found level terrain before activating - Terrain itself would reach out and grab your ankles. Lot of players would get stuck and would have to suicide. - Maps had holes (like, legitimate freaggin holes) that tanks could fall endlessly to their deaths through. - Kindred/Solstice Scouts, Relic/Firebrand Assaults, Anasoma/Colossus Heavies, and Hazard/whatever the other one Logistics aurum cosmetics that were totally awesome. - Skill boosters could only be activated one at a time and could not be queued, so you literally had to be on at the exact moment they expired. - We got more SP from being in a match than playing in a match. AFKing was pretty bad. - Bug in which Dust 514 would randomly delete itself from your hard-drive and not allow you to re-install stating 'download corrupted' - The only things a squad leader could do was drop an orbital and make someone else a squad leader - Vehicles would not return to assets after a match, meaning a LOT of tanks vanished into thin air. - Players were segregated by random NPC corporations and had corporate forums with which to talk to one another. It led to a lot of alienation for some of the dumbest reasons. - The front turret on a tank used to be off-set and on top of the chassis so that it, as well, had 360 degree fire. - 'Experimental Sniper Rifle' that had bullet drop mechanics.... because.... Rail Guns do that at 300m. - Contact grenades were stupidly OP with a 6.6m blast radius and could only be obtained via Aurum. - Literally all upcoming information about the game had to come from IRC. - Players, especially those in corporations like STB, actually made their characters with their clan tags to show loyalty because we didn't have corporation identification. - You could do damage to the MCC using Railgun Installations. - CCP was considering a martyrdom mechanic. - Black Ops Tanks with built in CRU that were the single most useless vehicle at the time. - SP Daily cap instead of weekly cap. Then, when we got a weekly cap, you would hit it and then would get next to nothing (I think it was like, 50 SP a match). - We had an Oceanic server that was primarily used for AFKing, testing, and dicking around. Politics: - Triton Industries who tried to bully their way to the top annnnnd failed. - Pink Fluffy Bounty Hunterz who were considered the elite of the elite until Uprising came out and then they got roflstomped into failscade by Hellstorm. - Subdreddit and Goonfeet which was hilarious what with Cerebral Wolf Jr. basically trying to take up the Dust 514 crown for Goonswarm before getting hellfired into oblivion by none other than The Mittani himself. - Onslaught Inc. which would up being quite literally one of the only remaining closed beta corporations today. - Restless Spirits which no-one remembered for anything important. - Pro Hic Immortalis which... for some reason I think turned into Molon Labe??? Dunno. - What The French which pretty much failscaded as soon as Cazaderon rage-quit the CPM over Legion. - The Southern Legion which was an Australian corp run by Black Jackal. More as I start to remember it all. Ah, that's the alliance I kept forgetting about in the CRONOS wars - the australians. Wasn't just tristan force. They faired well, but never really made any waves in PC, so i forgot about 'em. lol |

Back when EvE players gave us enough attention to get things like this done.
Quote:They don't understand that their "gun game" will mean nothing in New Eden. They talk bad about other members of the alliance, yet Protoman and all of the GC guys can run their mouth and get a target painted on our backs with powerful New Eden Alliances like GSF/Test......its all a little hypocritical if you ask me and there is definitely a lack of overall control by leadership."
We used to see criticism like this all the time. Guys who got rolfstomped in game talked big about connections outside of it, claiming to be a part of Test/Goons/Pandmeic and how impressive there big ships were and how actual skill in a universe like New Eden meant nothing compared to the meta.
Good times, i wonder if they still think they had a chance around here sucking as bad as they did before CCP ruined our future. |

uh, HvLP? You mean, you can beat a PC training corp trying to bring new players into MH?!
Damn, i can see why OH fields you every game.
And you can't beat NF - you tried for years and failed, so you joined OH and started making claims, lmao. Scrub :) |

Daddrobit wrote:Might I put in a few words on the dissolution of PFBHz?
Though a lot of people might like to think that we got ROFL-stomped, that simply was not the case as every match before the mass rage quit was still quite close on MCC, and on the clone front. The majority reason for why we lost was a misunderstanding of initial spawn in mechanics.
See, we didn't know to load in the fittings in the WB first while Hellstorm did. This lead us to load in 20+ seconds late allowing Hellstorm to take extremely hard control very early on in the matches with zero resistance.
Seeing every letter turn red while we were still only halfway across the map to our closest letter is more that just a little upsetting, but in the initial attacks on Hellstorm, we figured it as a mechanic of PC that the defenders started either closer to the letters, or they spawned in faster on the initial spawn in.
Following the 3 close games that were our failed attacks, we sat back and waited to be attacked, sure that it was just a defender mechanic that was giving them their lead. We were sure that with that mechanic on our side, it was going to be an easy win for when we had to defend.
So when we got attacked by Hellstorm, and they yet again took over the map while we were only halfway to our first letter, there were people who literally broke their controller. Some guys simply deleted dust right then and there, never to be seen again.
There is literally a thread on our private forums that came up a week later consisting mostly of facepalms titled "So... thats how they get to letters faster!!!?" when it finally came to light what was going on with our late spawn-ins, but by then, it was too late for the corp to come back.
Those losses came on top of the nasty internal strife centered around recruiting standards and weather or not we wanted to stay on Dust anyways because of how poorly CCP had handled the release of Uprising in the first place.
Uprising had already made several guys quit and had put many players more on the fence for staying loyal to the game for what was done to the aiming mechanics. If I might quote indy strizer on the first game played on its release,
"What the hell man, it's like my clone just duct taped his gun to his **** and is trying to aim by swinging it around."
That statement for those of you who didn't play at that time is more accurate that you can possibly know.
Just a bit of clarification for y'all. In PFBHz defense - they were fighting Hailstorm who would later take those same players they used against PFBHz *Most of 'em* and formed Ancient Exiles, one of the strongest corps in Dust's history, next to TP and Imps.
PFBHz eventually merges into NF after there internal affairs went haywire, but it wasn't even a week later that the imps leave dust. PFBHz definitely held ground, they just didn't meet the expectations like the Imps did so they were given ****. It would of likely put things in perspective if Imps and Hailstorm had fought, but each time the groups arranged a match Orion got in the way. |

Now if I were to take what I know about EVE....... what I know about Viktor as a mercenary, and what little I know of him as an EVE pilot..... plus the fact that he is Russian [I think]...... He's so space rich he could buy and sell you in real life. Russians take this game really seriously. Wanna bet? I'd give you my ISK spent on first HvLP - but i'm quite ashamed of it. Let's just say - 5billion went by very fast. Luckily I had ERA sponsorship :3
And i don't include EvE ISK - as it's different values.
EDIT: put it like this - HvLP at one point had 100+ active a day PC players, half of which were on regular payroll, the other half paid for performances. And paychecks went out weekly for the 2 months of HvLP's reign. |

EoN has recently just fallen a part, following Imps down the path of **** You CCP. In an attempt to keep things together, Cubs formed MHPD - Moiden Heath Poice Department, with the remaining Teamplayer members and competitive EoN players, and set out to rebuild a team to keep EoN on the map.
After a bumpy road and ups and downs with Ancient Exiles - MHPD disbands to officially declare EoN no more, the members of MHPD go through a transit until Kane, Cubs, and Regynum with the help of several NF and TP leftovers, formed ERA.
ERA then launches a meta campaign to exemplify themselves as mercenaries, create relationships, and weak there enemies *Ancient Exiles*, building many friends a long the way.
Around this time FA formed with Zatara and were quickly making a name for themselves. There efforts quickly putting them as a top contender alongside NF and AE.
Soon, MH would be ripped by these three cooperations going at it. Each trying to be a mercenary group, and therefor, natural competitors and enemies. The forums would serve as the main battlefield as each of the group vied for community attention. Bartering and undercutting prices on districts and mercenaries costs, the efforts each group put down to come out on top was considerable, often overwhelming the War Room as trolling between the three groups intensified.
Eventually, FA started gaining ground on both NF and AE forces after joining MH's EvE Powerhouse - General Tso's Alliance, and were winning over the community at the same time. Threatened by this upstart cooperation, several plans were put into motion. Some would take fruit - others would stop as soon as they started.
One such plan that bore fruit was securing EvE support, a then vital resource for PC that often time decided a match. In doing so, NF tipped the scales back there way. And after several talks between Kujo and Kain - AE, with the rest of there alliance at the time, join DNS with ERA, who left NF.
With NF and AE forces coming down on FA with superior EvE support, teams, and over-all talent count. FA's end was destined. Through tough negotiations by all parties, eventually a cease-fire and deal was cut - FA would join DNS, and MH would be a Vet only zone.
Thus began the DNS reign of terror.
Most corp who didn't abuse district glitching would be removed within a week, it would be a month before OH and WTF are removed, and longer for KEQ, who had taken the glitch the next level and were un-hittable.
Before DNS could enjoy this reign - a division grew in DNS ranks, as once rivals kept to there flags inside the alliance. Trolling and fighting were common, interior affairs overwhlemed by how many people disliked each other.
Then, DNS Black, leader of the DNS alliance, went on Podcast. What wasn't known among the majority of NF, AE, and FA players, was the plan DNS Black and a select other had set upon and not properly discussed with the rest of us. So when we heard on podcast what was planned, a rebellion occurred.
***** were lost, fucks were given, and someones dog was kicked. DNS breaks in 2 - AE, NS, FA, Cap vs ERA and HvLP. It looked like NF and HvLP were going to win easily, having been preparing for the rebellion for months and preparing several teams. Ultimately, it was 1 ERA team, 2 HvLP teams, and one allied team, and one 'all star' team. Vs FA who couldn't field half a team, AE who could barely do half, Cap who had numbers but not the experience yet, and NS.
However, leadership in NF ultimately didn't even want to hold onto the land, and realize by letting it go the effort of dealing with everything falls to the corps who actually owned the land. So NF took away all roles and let all there districts go without a fight.
Thus ended DNS. |

As a matter of fact, the "bug" that allowed for infinite orbitals wasn't actually a bug. Its because I was playing with the zitro brothers at the time, arguably dust's best tag team in history, while the initial orbital setting was set ridiculously low. Mix that with carefully timed orders which where still largely unknown at the time for effecting WP gain, we could string OB after OB after OB. much fun! The worst but we found was the aptly named betamax circle jerk.
This was waaaaay back when dust was a lobby shooter. We would all enter a game with no one in it and then call down tanks. We would then make a circle alternating between teams. We would then shoot the enemy player across from the circle and the repair (there was a vehicle remote repair module back then)the one to the left. The result was that because this was when WP was very linked to sp gain, we where getting over 1 million sp per game!
Also the IRC was created during the first playable version of dust. It was secured so that only NDA'd peeps could enter. Episode 22: CPM0, Fanfest 2013, and the legend of Jenza's Pants. |
