A Complex shield extender already gives less then 1 bullets worth of HP. The basic at half hp would only provide 16hp? The Laser Rifle would do that much damage without heating up.

I've been the victim of boosting. It's unpleasant. I was fortunate enough to bounce a grenade off a wall and kill myself. I've seen this a few times and it seems to be fairly consistent behaviour among a certain corporation.
