just a PSA for those who haven't noticed
in fact one game i joined had as many as 7 people running around with them including me and a few corp mates.
the satisfying clonk of the mass driver will again instill terror as it was meant to. |

Definately back to there former glory if not even better. Its easier to shell from farther ranges and consistently get hit markers. Now that mds are working better I cant help but feel that there's going to be qq threads coming |

well just think each race has a assault rifle(soon) and light AV weapon(eventually), a specialty weapon(all are here) sidearm(soon) and a Heavy weapon(probably in a heavy oriented update)
still AR's 2 exist 2 coming

Light AV 2 exist 2 coming

I won't say it's better than ever, since overall shielding has increased in Uprising from Chrome, but it is nice to have it viable again. There was no reason to use any MD other than Boundless Assault before this fix. |

True but shields are about right feeling wise when I tank with them Armor seems to not be the high HP low Regen that it should be. |

MD got a mild radius buff and the desynch and splash damage issues resolved. The smoke from the explosion is slightly better, but not as good as Chromo. The Chromo arc has not returned, it is still the flatter Uprising trajectory. But because of that, you can get some impressive range. My longest kill from early Uprising was 115m, last night I got several kills around the 80m mark. With the desynch issue solved, aiming will be much more predictable and expect people to be able to reach out to 100m+ consistently. |

I was wondering about it's effectiveness against shields however. One Dev blog I read stated that it was supposed to be 80% damage against shields, but when I target a player with full shields, the target effectiveness indicator only reads 70%. Is there something that I am missing here, or is it doing less damage to shields than intended? |

The radius reduction of 1.0 and 1.1 was necessary because of the range reduction in all weapons. Less range = More CQC = Stronger Mass Driverl
The additional range given to other weapons again required a tweak to the mass driver splash radius. This time they changed it from 3.0(std) /3.1(Adv)/ 3.3(pro) to 4/4.2/4.4. CCP definitely changed the values, even if they don't realize it(you should probably check the game stats or ask someone who might know before responding to these things). I am almost certain that the item value change isn't just cosmetic, and is actually reflected in game. A lot easier to hit shots and also kill yourself. |

from my perspective mass drivers were rare before, and now i see multiple a game and before i rarely saw a single one.

It's not Wolfman's fault. He asked me if I'd made any changes to the Mass Driver and I told him none that I could recall. I later checked my change history and I had increased the splash damage up from 3m to 4m... back in May.
We're often working in a build that has enough differences to the live build that it can be hard to remember when/if a single stat was changed.
I apologize for the misinformation. All derpishness in this matter can be traced back to me. |

We're often working in a build that has enough differences to the live build that it can be hard to remember when/if a single stat was changed.
I apologize for the misinformation. All derpishness in this matter can be traced back to me. No worries, all we wanted was for our area denial weapon to be an actual area denial weapon again. The blast radius is in a great spot, bringing back the smoke was a great addition and since the Uprising nerf, many of us massholes only got better. Once the secondary skills are more weapon specific, investing SP into ammo capacity might make up for the lack of supply depots and the nanohive nerf.
Also, I just wanted to apologize for all the rants and rave posts from earlier. I don't envy you and Wofman for having to put up with us when you're just trying to do your job, no hard feelings. |

Its nice seeing these again, kind of missed them. They are still no Flaylock in the amount of Dmg they deal in a short period but are good for fleshing guys out.
Hate fighting 1v1 now so many people just aim at my feet. |

The nova knife is a class of it's own and doesn't count to the same class of sidearms as pistols. Currently we have the Minmatar and Amarr pistols and Caldari nova knives, we're still waiting for the other knife variants plus the Gallente plasma pistol and Caldari railpistol.

Specced into mass driver on this account with 2m SP and was severely disappointed.
But now that they're back I should check this account, must have 1m passive SP saved up.
I feel like an idiot that I neglected this alt and didn't issue a respect ticket for it. Specced up to proto without realising what a waste of money proto is.
gonna do proficiency and damage mods if they're not already upgraded.
the best bet for MD users who just want some fun and to try out this weapon is to get an ADV MD, proficiency and damage mods, forget armour and shieds go for a glass cannon loadout.
at least that's what I'll be doing if the splash/hit detection truly has been fixed. |
