Taking away sharpshooter and nerfing most of the weapons range, was probably done in an effort to promote CQC.
- D you like the direction they are heading with this?
- Do you think it is working
- If not what should, or could have been, done?

except hip firing accuracy has been massively reduced. My view, nerf the distance not for CQC. |

It's kind of annoying. I dropped the laser because it felt rubbish, now I realise that it's no worse than the ARs.
Meanwhile those Minmatar scouts are running around in front of me so fast that the game literally can't process their movement. I'm very happy to see scouts that are capable of doing well in combat, but giving them a visual glitch to that end has sapped my enjoyment of CQC. |

From what Ive read and the few ive talked to people generally like it and I think a lot of us could adjust to the nerfs be it CQC or class specific etc, if CCP would fix the damn aim mechanics..
At least give us some information on if there is going to even be a fix. I understand one dev said one thing on IRC but im talking about an actually community announcement acknowledging some of the flaws of this build and some kind of ETA on a fix.... |

I use Shotguns and AR's.
Yes the decrease in rage gives CQC combatants a chance.
But on the other side, massive armor or shied mediums can now take several shots of a shotgun for example. (took me 3 CRG-3 shotgun blasts at about 7 mts to drop an Amarr Assault)
so even with the drop, the buff on armor and shields plus specializations should balance it out.

If not what should, or could have been, done? The need to Rebuff HMG's.As a note I dont use them. The gave Heavies better/cheaper armor at the cost of firepower. At the end they are still underpowered.
Overall i like DUST 514 Uprising. Has good graphics, lots of options and i feel its getting a good balance. |

It would be nice if the HMG wasn't terrible.
Even in close range fights, I'll find myself getting outranged and out DPSed by ARs.
I had a random guy with a Tac-AR walk up to me earlier. I unloaded into him with my MH-82. He just put a burst into my face and then I died.
Promptly realized that my favorite weapon was terrible. |

No
yes
Sword fights with guns is idiotic.
We already had the shotgun scout class...people who want this type of game play had it the whole time in beta...why make everyone play it all the time?
Hell why have tanks and jeeps and assault drop ships and big maps if this was the goal?
Just make 100 meter square maps dump 90% of the players in it to nova knife shotgun fight and then ring the outer hills with the remaining 10% as snipers.
I am sure the development costs for that would be much cheaper....probably be a funner game as well. |

Except it isn't though, which is what I don't understand. There are some people saying it's better than it was last build and I just don't see how. It feels almost unplayable sometimes. |

i really dislike the range nerf and this CQC, It took away diversity and now its a boring blob fest with 6 man squads and 3 sec respawn timer. Dust was made into a no brainer FPS game. I rather have 10 snipers in the hills in manus peak in the old chromosome build than this. |

I'm guessing you were one of the 10, because as someone who used to try and actually play Manus Peak when half of both teams were sniping and 4 or 5 were AFK, it was the worst thing I've ever experienced in this game. |

To that end I suppose that CCP wanted to make that gameplay a bit closer to what is seen in trailers. Obviously there are a ton of other things that occur in these trailers, CQC is one of the most prominent ones. I think we will all come to like it in a few weeks. |

Gotta be honest, I had my doubts but the fighting side of things is much more enjoyable.
Making our range shorter means that positions are far more important than before, utilising cover and moving as a squad is much better since you don't get hit from far away by random scrubs, it also means the Tac AR is useful (seen a lot of that)
As mainly a vehicle player, I've found my Infantry guys sticking with me a lot more as they're out in the open flanking my tank not getting picked off from a distance, and it's been very fun. Hell even out of the vehicle I'm able to compete with proto players in Militia Gear as they're not smashing me from so far away.
People don't seem to get it though, they still rush around like Rambo and get shot up, the game is about Teamwork, not you soloing it up. Just remember, because we have an unchanging range on all weapons, as the maps open up CCP can always adjust the ranges to be further without worrying about making a certain weapon OP because it has 40% more range already due to skills. |

I agree with this. I think it's not so much CCP focusing on CQC but more pushing squad action. The effect I've noticed is a lot more noticeable attack/defend maneuvering, team cohesion, and focus fire. I think this kind of teamwork is part of what sets EVE and Dust aside from most other games and what CCP is doing right. |

Seriously, this. The maps are not designed for the ranges on most weapons. Its leading to very stupid confrontations. Before you often had to provide cover fire to advance on a position, now you just run up in plane sight cuz no one has any range. And then because everyone has the same range with ar's you see people just barely backing out of the range to reload and avoid fire.
I enjoyed the mid to long range firefights, and some maps and situations were awesome for it. Now I can choose between a sniper rifle or close quarters combat. |

Has the TAR, not more range? Or am I wrong on this perception?

Its not squad action its mob action. A 6 man squad could be an opportunity for coordination and working as fire teams in different areas of the map. Instead the best strategy is to bunch up and mob people since most enemies don't have a way to effectively engage you at a safe distance.
Also to the person before you, flanking is less effective when range is reduced because there are fewer areas to take cover on their flank. If you want to be on someone's flank at a distance of 20-60 meters, but your gun only has a range of 50 meters then you have just forfeited 10 meters of potential cover (the numbers aren't representative of actual weapons, they are just examples). |
