Atheism is not a cop out to social responsibilities, in fact it is quite the opposite. Being an atheist makes it so that you understand the fate of the world is based on YOUR ACTIONS not the actions of some god.

Especially - as pointed out earlier - because it would allow all members within one time zone to still be devout without missing out on corp events because of church/prayer/temple/what-be-it. It also adds the bonus where - if you have a big group of rather devout believers who like to talk about their faith rather constantly - these people don't need to dump their beliefs on others. I, for one, am not religious in the least and find it rather distasteful to be constantly berated with someone else's beliefs. I might respect the faith of religious people... but I don't want to hear all about it! ;) I'm definitely glad that the Dust community so far seems to be pretty mature in that aspect. Here's hoping it keeps up when this beast goes live!!

You have to have a permit to protest, you can't yell 'fire' in a theater or 'bomb' on a plane, etc. In some states you even have laws governing "fighting words" meaning that if you use language that incenses violence and then you are assaulted because of it, it is your own fault. Free speech doesn't come with out its own responsibilities.
