My favorite part of this thread was when people who can't read Arabic try to tell those who can what Al' rasulAllah meant when he recited.
Also, Elijah you can not give Salaams to the kufar... If you are Sunni, anyway. If you are Shia then you know the drill. |

Then I'm willing to bet you find the Arabic word 'Algebra' down right fascinating. |

It's funny, because you don't see the same outrage in regards to the now infamous and ridiculously BAD film amongst Muslims in the USA as you do from Muslims in the Mideast.
Why?
If you want an honest answer, I have one. The reason is because most Muslims in this country haven't seen the film because they haven't gotten around to it or they just don't care and neither have their friends overseas. We can rationally conclude that the film, while being real, isn't the actual reason behind the Embassy in Yemen being stormed and the death of the US ambassador in Libya.
Quote:As I type this today, riots are raging in Yemen, Egypt, and even Iran. Deaths were unecessarily caused in Libya, but In America, the muslims are NOT protesting this film and I'm not sure why. If the fim is so offensive, then why is there none of the outrage that I see over in the Middle East? there are certainly many adherents of Islam living in the US, too, right?
Something you may not know about Yemen, American drone strikes have been hitting targets in that country much harder than Afghanistan and Pakistan. "Collateral damage" might make for a good political talking point but it does not mean much when it is your family being killed. So, there is a very valid reason for the anger people have in Yemen that has nothing to do with some supposed movie.
As for the people discussing free speech... We know that there are limitations on speech. You have to have a permit to protest, you can't yell 'fire' in a theater or 'bomb' on a plane, etc. In some states you even have laws governing "fighting words" meaning that if you use language that incenses violence and then you are assaulted because of it, it is your own fault. Free speech doesn't come with out its own responsibilities. |
