I actually enjoy the beta, the first build with the assault and secure mission was probly the most fun one as the map was awesomely variable, 2nd (e3 release) seemed kind of broken and too short for my count but the sp gain and isk gain was ok on the newest patch the ****** up the sp and isk counter but the loot makes up for it but it has no sense since you cant sell them.
but generally I love it alot, best game i've ever played so far, if you dont count in good ol' battlefield 1942 ofc |

I thought KBM would be great, but the controls aren't fluid, I can't remap, and the turn caps are severely low, and extremely unrealistic. The new graphics are nice, but there are way to many hiccups in the framerate because of it. I'm waiting til launch to make any "final judgement" on the game, and I'm faithful that CCP will update the game significantly, but I'm just not really loving Precursor. |

i know this feeling, its the new sp system config i guess, it takes so long to gain sp to upgrade anything, and the isk counter is on drugs also. so you cant afford the books nor the equipment :l i had a sagaris at 2nd build and now i cant even afford a sica. |

Yep, it's pretty fun if I can find people who are playing with me, and not just people who are running around shooting stuff. Finding a squad is a must, and then there are technical problems still, but once you're in the game and coordinated with a squad it's really very enjoyable. There is the off-chance that I hop solo into a game and find someone on comms, and it can be fun to go around blowing up LAVs if people are spamming them, but it's most fun when you're on a team. |

I'm enjoying it overall, but I suck at console FPS controls to the point that I didn't really play before Precursor, so it's still new to me.
I feel like vehicles and spawn camps mean that if one team gets enough upper hand, they can just bury their opponents and wait to win, but I haven't seen enough to honestly say if character skills and equipment give the kind of wiggle room to get out of that. I have spawned and been shot to death in the back before I can even turn around, which is something that probably needs to go away by launch, but once I'm out on the map and moving around I feel like things are fairly balanced.
Hugely agree with the lag and disconnect issues, but hopefully that is just a matter of optimizing code and won't last too long. |

To be fair, EVE is a SIGNIFICANTLY more passive game. FPS games are more, in the moment, so sitting around waiting for your SP to fill up can be kind of a drag. I for one don't mind that so much, I hope they find a way to even it out a bit more come release, but we'll have to see. The more I play, the more I wonder just how they plan on pulling of this "7 year skill system" outside of just giving 4 versions of each skill for the different races.

also, i found this post from another thread interesting:
Sees-Too-Much wrote:The fact that they've been made aware of the issue doesn't mean they can wave a magic wand and make it go away. Project development on this scale is extremely complicated. Everything has to be planned and considered. Rest assured that every bug we identify has been logged somewhere at CCP HQ and is ready to work on.
On top of that in many cases they can't even do bug fixes yet because they still have features to implement. Now, I know what you're thinking. "Fix the bugs before adding new features". It seems to make sense to the layperson, but in software development everything is interconnected. If they fix bugs now they're just going to have other bugs pop up when they add new features. The process will go a lot faster if they introduce the features first, that way they can identify all the bugs together and get them fixed.
Plus, knowing CCP, they'll break a dozen things every time they introduce a new feature. Seriously, love those guys, they made the only MMO worth playing, but every time they add an expansion or a major addition something gets majorly borked. Then a few days later they fix it, and everything is awesome again, more so than it was before the expansion. |

I am enjoying the Beta...although I do think that the Invalid Fittings bug needs addressed ASAP as trying to play with friends, in a squad or even solo often ends up with a restart.
The constant restarting when in a squad with the invalid fittings bug makes it very frustrating. Just got the bug again, so I stepped away from the game for a while.... if I hadn't gotten the bug I'd still be engaged and having fun.
I hope that they can address this issue ASAP as it affects moral as well as game mechanics testing.

I have been having as much fun as possible. I'm not going to go off on a "it's a beta" conversation but I have to say that it needs more work. I like the hit detection a lot more on this build and gunplay seems to be more of a man to man battle instead of the over barring aim assist for the last build. But Yes I have been having a blast. If any of you guys expected this build to be perfect then you are mistaken. I have been apart of the beta (<3 CCP ) ever since the end of May and the amount of progress I have seen from build to build have been astounding in my book. At the rate of current progression I have faith that they can pull this off. But yes this build does leave a lot to be desired but you have to make the most of it. I am humble to be chosen by CCP as one of it's beta testers. Even if this game flops I will enjoy what time I can give. The important thing for me in this build is to find all of the abusive imbalances, bugs, exploits, and networking with my fellow merc's. |

Personally I wish they made active skilling provide bonus SP, and made passive skilling the primary source of SP. |

exactly, that would be a working solution, for both games i guess, as for eve to gain extra sp to gunnery or missiles or weaponry in general as your pvp ing around or that stuff but also, i'd love to see dust skills go semi passive and you'd just get extra from the battles you go through, though im not sure would it work too well since you could just drop back and log for a month and get easy sp, tho they should make the queue so you can designate the skill your going to be training for so you dont have to actually gather 512k sp to spend it directly on skill as instead you'd be able to partially train the skill, would be cool in my opinionn |

You only get 20 SP per minute or so. Whatever skills you queue, should train passively as normal, but if you use those skills in battle, you should gain some bonus SP towards them.
Lets say you are training Assault Rifle Operation Level 4, it would probably have a ~1d 2hr training time. Then if you use Assault Rifles in battle, the WP earned by getting kills with an Assault Rifle should translate into some bonus SP for that skill. |

It has it's ups and downs. Replication was about as stable as this build (not good) but had IMHO the best map, and EVERYONE had Proto assault gear available (1xskill modifier). Lag and hit detection were terrible, but the way it played gave me faith in Dust. It felt like an crazy fast paced shooter with tanks and Dropships, and a great game mode.
E3 was stable after a week of CCP playing about with it. Gameplay was boring. Marauders were insanely op, as we're free drop ships. This would be the low point in my opinion, but I'm sure CCP got lots of feedback about that.
This build shows a lot of promise if they can sort out the stability, numbers, frame rate, ect ect, I think a game where tanks rule the open plains and infantry rule in the complexs. If they can balance UT/Quake style FPS gameplay with the world of tanks side of things, we'll be in for a cracker. This build still needs a lot of work...except for the f it just doesn't feel special yet? (in the FPS gameplay element) |

Dont like it, E3 was fun tho unbalanced, new build is frustrating. Price changes are good, balance is nice, but currently I fight the controls, not other players. Controls in general are much worse, weapon sway on hit is immensly frustrating and just adds to the feeling of not beeing fully in control. Hopefully this will get fixed and removed but for now this build is not for me. |

Only played one and a half matches so far but enjoying it. Taking awhile to jump into another... really liking how effective militia weapons are right now, with lower SP rate and higher cost for everything there's a lot less people that can tank a stupid amount of bullets.. making the gun fighting better in this game imo, never liked it when fights would devolve into strafing circles so often. Still happens, just not as often and it's nice.
Better graphics, going throughout the selection is really smooth.. liking that, a lot less choppy and all together better. Waiting to get pissed off by freezing though, already had to restart Dust a few times due to glitches and errors. |

All my friends that are currently playing it are preferring to solo (including me) because it's too much hassle getting everyone into 1 fully-functional squad without having to encounter a bug and hardly getting into battles. |

Aside from the resets, I'm having a blast.
I was a critic of Ambush maps, but being thrown in there with full teams instead of the two or three people that actually played them in the last build actually improves my experience.
That and not seeing 20 Sagaris tanks on the field at a time. |

I'm loving the gameplay a ton. Lag is a tad annoying, and it is a pain to get a squad of 4 into a match without one of us bugging out with INVALIDs or some similar issue when starting the match. |

Actually, yes. Don't get me wrong, I've invented a few new... words due to chasing people down, sneaking up behind, unloading clips and nada, being randomly dropped from games, and freaky lag spikes where I would teleport back to where i was 3 seconds earlier an entire game. But it's love hate. tonight I logged in and WOW my hits are landing. I know my skills haven't improved much if any since my last log in, but something feels ..different. It feels like it's working. Sniper shots are landing AND actually doing some damage, my SMG is actually killing people. I feel I'm finally of use to the team. The last 3 battles are the first three where I have been VERY excited. Not sure what's up. I just hope it's not a random thing. My luck, I've just been shooting first day demo players and feeling all positive for nothing ;)

OK I have never played EVE or even heard of it. I gave up PC gaming back at the turn of the century for the instant gratification of a console LOL! Back in the day I was a Tie Ace, played Full Throttle and we loaded in games w a boot disc!
My point being that so far, as a player who leveled up through all 3 PMCs in MAG, that NO I am not enjoying it. So far. Its definitely got that "itch I can't scratch" SOMETHING but lacks a lot of the overarching story. We that come from the PS3 world are going "WTF?"
When MAG went to a more complex skilling tree and weapons upgrade system I was at full strength and could pick and choose my loadouts. Or spend longer time diddling with them, whichever! But for some reason a lot of the fun seemed to go out of it and the frustration factor rose. Squad play suffered and team balancing became a joke. I am just saying more complex is rarely BETTER (insert Big Gov snarkiness here)
I think you need cutscenes, movies to unlock that background it, less intimidating loadout trees, and more scifi. MORE SCIFI! There are a lot of big budget locked-in shooter franchises that are on fourth and fifth versions with a dedicated demographic. This is hard to get into. For smart people! I'm definitely not enjoying the tank dominance of this build, I've currently put all skilling on hold to get proto swarm launchers A.S.A.P, along with better AV grenades.
If that doesn't make some kind of difference, I might just put it down until next build, depending on just how bad these tank wars get over the coming weeks.... |

Build prior to E3 - Best Pace and most fun to play but had quite a few bugs
E3 Build - Most bug free version but pacing too slow and too much vehicle spam
Precursor - Most polished iteration and grouping, FTW....but alas tons of frustrating bugs and pace is still slow
Personally, I'm trying not to play too much and wear myself out on a fraction of what Dust 514 will be.....that and, in the back of my mind, I know my SP are going away again.
Major improvement being able to group....even if just for chatting while fitting and helping others.
Now if we could just get a little bit of the base movement speed / controller responsiveness back. |

I think my biggest and probably only gripe aside from the graphical pop-in and lag, is the shooting mechanics.
I have the sensitivity turned down to absolute MINIMUM and I still feel like I'm shooting all over the place when I try to aim; it's far too twitchy. I even tried Aim Assist (which I try to avoid in games as much as possible).
I barely even noticed a difference when I turned sensitivity all the way down. Feels way too loose and twitchy. |

Play EVE for a month, come back to Dust, and you will feel how lightning fast the skill progression is. People are just far to used to instant gratification these days. It doesn't really take long to get anywhere, it just isn't very fast. I agree people are too use to instant gratification. I like the SP and ISK gains this build. I like having to grind for my rewards. It makes me value it more and have a plan in place of how I want to use it. Last builds gains were outrageous. It took no time to get to Proto Gear and I honestly believe it should not be that way. I personally hope the gains stay the way they are at launch. |

Not in particular. Fixed spawns are still a massive ******* no-no and tanks still rule, even with 2 or 3 swarm launchers dedicated to trying to take them down.
But then again, swarm launchers still have pathfinding issues and forge guns got a nerf, so tanks are even ******* harder to kill. |

When I log in and every time I play I go to shot or run across the map and crap randomly pulls up, i get stuck in the map or some other nasty bug comes in to play with me it makes testing incredibly difficult. And these are the same bugs that were in the last build. Just seems if they want quality testing done then we should at least be provided mechanics that allow us to do so. Just my opinion though.

While I agree that the number of bugs is ridiculous and a bit overwhelming CCP can't afford to stop implementing stuff to be tested at this point in time. Fixing these bugs is most likely not an overnight process and no reason to stop their schedule, especially if they plan to release it this year (not much time left). With that being said they need to get all these other things into the game and have them tested as well so they can find whats wrong, what could use improvements, and tweak it before release.
+ like someone else said, we can't properly test when we only have a small portion of what will be available after the game launches. Tanks may seem OP now but what if we had some new tech that is great for taking down tanks? The balance scale changes every time you add something to the game. |

Instead let's add new content even though we didn't fix bugs because we(CCP) must prioritize flash over substance and core mechanics.
While I find the bugs and such frustrating you have very valid points that I can't debate with at this time. |

I wholeheartedly agree. The game is a keeper. I won't be tired of it in a year or two and see that things are getting better and as for the SP, finding the right group of guys who can use squad commands really improves the gains as well as the understanding of whats worth doing in the game. This is a team game not made for solo play so meet so people and have fun or don't. Even with glitches, talking on comms to someone who is having the same problem as you is just as fun as shooting because together problems can be troubleshooted and the ways around them can be figured out. In answer to the OP....No, I haven't enjoyed the beta at all despite hoping this would turn out to be special.
Personally, I think it's a shonky, poor imitation of Battlefield (and I don't even like Battlefield).
The core mechanics are very poor. Takes way too many bullets to get a kill, CQC usually descends into a silly strafe dance and the awful hit detection makes it a lottery as to who gets the kill. Weapons feel weak and sound terrible. I also really hate the ADS view.
Currently it's unplayable with tanks spawn camping at every turn.
Shame, because the idea here is something very special. It just doesn't have the mechanics that make the great shooters great.

Not really enjoying things. I remember things being more fun when I first joined the beta before the E3 build. I remember haviing fun in the old Communications Skirmish, I liked that there were preliminary objectives (defense relay A and B) that had to be destroyed before unlocking the part of the map with the main objectives to capture. The maps felt more fun because not only there was the sense of progression from unlocking parts of the map, but the maps themselves have all sorts of little pathways to travel in and created interesting gameplay areas. Now the maps are generally bland and way too open with little cover which is not great for fostering closer battles. The player count doesn't help, battles feel empty. |

I barely even noticed a difference when I turned sensitivity all the way down. Feels way too loose and twitchy.
I have the same problem with aiming down sight with the assault rifle, Its really jerky. https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=32652&find=unread this feedback thread raises the issue. |

I've enjoyed the beta, but this build has really tested my patience more than I've been testing the beta.
The only good thing that I can honestly say that they improved on in this build is that they added a grouping system, and it's pretty janky itself.
I also like that map that's super huge with five control points to capture. That's pretty fun.
Other than that,I really don't understand changing the SP and ISK gains in this build. If they are going to release a new build every five to six weeks, there's absolutely no way possible that they are going to get a good sample size of feedback on certain items like dropships and proto gear,if only a handful of gamers with the time to sit around for 20 hour per day can acquire. |

We used to hunt tanks down. Now if I see one in a match, why bother.
The AV nerf has screwed the infantry, surprised I havent seen more dropship pilots in game now since they have nothing to fear as well.
So between the above mentioned and all the connectivity issues this build is currently having, I'll be on GW2 for awhile, and I'm not a big fan of it.

No. I'm fairly certain at this point that Dust is going to fall flat on it's face. It's a sub par FPS as far as I'm concerned...
A) It has very clunky controls. Nothing works quite as smoothly as it should. It's just annoying and this sort of thing kills FPS's these days.
B) The fitting system is extremely weird for fitting a drop suit. For Eve, it's ok since it at least kind of makes sense. The skill system doesn't really fit either imo. This sort of thing shouldn't have been translated over from Eve, and not many FPS players are going to appreciate either. I honestly have no idea whose idea it was to I mean really? They even kept the circle for the fitting screen? Just obnoxious.
C) As it is, this game really does not have an MMO feel and thus a lot will be disappointed by it's MMO advertising. There's no free-roaming, nothing to explore, battles are fought only through matches, etc. etc. etc... It wont' really be an MMO until it lets players explore worlds (or at least facilities on different worlds), high sec home worlds, or different stations. It needs something though that makes it more free and feel like an mmo.
D) The graphics leave a lot to be desired. Even for the outdated standards for a PS3, they're pretty bad.

Battlefield does look alot better though. It's a smoother experience and the core mechanics are fantastic. The gun on gun/moment to moment battles in Dust just don't come anywhere close. I say this and I don't really like Battlefield, mainly due to it's various faults and poor map design.
It's just a cold hard fact that you HAVE to offer core mechanics that match up to the big boys (CoD, BF3, CS, TF2) to compete.
I truly hope this can be turned around before official release. |

I just started a few days ago, and I'm liking it a lot. If they can keep improving the game (and in the few days I've been on I've seen a lot of improvements) and add in all the features they're talking about I think this could be a great game. My main FPS creds are COD, The original Red Faction (i loved that game, pvp was a blast) and Halo. so forgive me if I reference them a lot.
I do have some comments. Pros:
1) A Squad Game. When I move with a group, even though I don't have a mic, it's immensely rewarding. I find people following me, and me following people, and then us breaking up to take positions far more often then I would in say COD. This team element is something I've never experienced so easily in any other FPS. Some communication options that don't involve mic's or typing would be REALLY nice though.
2) Shotgun. Nuff said.
3) Certain maps are amazing, like the huge map with 5 control points. I think someone else mentioned it. This map is one where tanks, even if they're around, can be dealt with. I think if they're going to be as OP as they are we need more maps like this one, maps with lots of cover, different lines of approach etc..
4) Multiple ways to contribute: I like that i get points of hacking, hacking assists, kill assists etc... beyond just killing things. It would be really cool to see more opportunities like this one.
5) SP/Cash (forgetting the term). I actually think the gains for these are pretty good. SP could stand to go up a little, but I don't mind the pace. It's a cool system, reminds me of COD BO cod points somewhat, except way more in depth and cool. I like tailoring my soldier to my play style, both in load outs and in stat choices.
6) Pacing - I actually like the current pacing. It's a little slower than a lot of FPS titles on the market, but that feels appropriate to me given that I'm a dude running around in a giant metal suit in SCI-FI environs. I think of it almost like a blend of Mech suits with Person level squad combat, i Don't know if there specific lore here but I imagine i weigh a half-tonne or so in my suit. I also like the (at least I perceived this) different movement speeds of different suit types.
7) Tie in's with eve. I love this idea, and it gets me all excited to think that I might eventually play a role in galactic scale conflicts. That my FPS actions are part of a grand engaging experience at multiple scales of complexity and gaming modes. Who knows, maybe some sexy corporate sponsor will think "Wow, this guy has a barely positive K/D ratio! I should hire him full time!".
Cons:
1) Hit detection is pretty iffy. I snuck up behind a guy, shot him in the back of the head with a shotgun several times and it missed every time. Either I was lagging terribly, or the hit detection was just broken as all hell. Either way this was infuriating, particularly considering some guy in a rail gun turret then killed me (for the umpteenth time). This has gotten much better in the last day or so (I saw a patch come through, so maybe they worked on this).
2) A bloated instant match game. Basically right now I'd say you have an extremely bloated instant matching fps. This wouldn't be a problem except that even when it's working properly (I.E. you aren't getting invalids (which has only happened to me twice)) it takes WAY to long to get into a match. If all we get is instant, make it flipping instant. Right now it takes maybe five+ minutes to get into a match (again assuming everything is perfect). That's way to long.
3) Very limited map/game mode choices. I've played a good number of matches now and I I've seen the same two maps over and over again. One of them is awesome (the 5 control points MCC map) the other is at best meh. (the ambush map). I'm sure they're working on this, but I watched a video called "Seeding the Universe" or some such and the guy was talking about thousands of dynamic maps across multitudes of different worlds. Assuming a this year release (taken from this thread so If this is a false timeline forgive me) at what point in the Dev Cycle are they going to do that exactly?
4) MMO? What MMO? I agree with a previous poster. I had expected far more "Open World" and Character Customization aspects. It's little things like not being able to run while I'm in my quarters, not having a central location where I can meet with other member of my corporation, not being able to customize my suit unless I buy AUR etc...
I love the corp-v-corp concept, and the idea that I'm part of the EVE universe, but uhh... where is that universe exactly? I can't see it, touch it, communicate with it, hear about it or interact with it in any way. It's a really cool concept, but other than orbital strikes (which I've never seen) I haven't experienced this interactivity. I get that a lot of this stuff is SOON(tm) but this is the feedback forum.
5) No Kill Cam. One of my favorite aspects of COD is that I can learn from watching myself die. How do I know that I'm in that ****** rail gun's sight lines, or that I got killed by a grenade, or that some sniper somewhere killed me? As of now I have to look to the upper right hand side of the screen and PRAY that I can find "Bob Newhart (Rail Gun Turret) killed Aviva Cohen" before its replaced by other people dying. It's hard to get better if I can't see what my mistake was.
6) Pausing to check K/D's, Maps etc... In COD you can have the K/D,Maps etc.. list up and still move around and shoot. In this game it forces you to Pause play to check it, and on top of that its a VERY slow interface. That's infuriating to me!
So there is my feedback for you guys. Digging the game, keep up the good work, and get to implementing the BIO, Battle Records etc... For me those are what will make this game really stand out.

Lately it has been getting on my nerves. I haven't been playing a lot for the past few days but my love for dust still stands. I just wish CCP would get their priorities straight instead of adding and fixing other problems. I believe the annoying bugs we are facing with now should be "THE" priority before anything else at hand. But thats just me, I am just sick and tired of playing a game and then having to restart. It's a continous cycle, really.
Looking forward when all these bugs are crushed for good. It'll be an amazing moment in my life and in gaming history! lol |

Ignore this troll. He thinks any AUR item is Pay to win, thinks skill boosters and passive boosters are P2W as well.
