lol i find this amusing! hurm i must be odd. what this translates to me. ohh i wanna run around in the best stuff all time time because i can that way when i come across someone that doesn't have as much sp as me i can kill them. and OMG WTF i got killed because of a militia assault rifle, Rage quit! |

The reason people are taking cheap shots at you. Is you keep comparing this game to every other PS3 game. This is not COD, Battlefield or Uncharted or any other FPS you have ever played. They don't want to be like every other FPS you ever played. You keep raging about how you don't want anything to do with EVE at all. Why are you playing this game? Everyone is right...you don't sit there and use your most expensive fit on every life or battle its just not smart. You have to learn to build even tech1 or tech 2 fits that are cheaper and can be managed. Not every match will you be playing the best human/npc corp in the game and need to be in proto everything. Just learnt to have a cheaper fits and I'm sure you could still go 20 and 3 or something. If you have all those level 5 skills to fit everything then I'm sure you can destroy many other people in a tier II suit with great skills. Please stop comparing this game "DUST" to every other ps3 game or fps...its not I hope it never is. The reason I enjoy this is beause its not COD or Battlefield or even Counter-strike where you save money at times to buy weapons.
I can only equip a Advanced suit with a few tier 2 modules. I think your honestly complaining about nothing |

How in the hell do you go 20 or 30 kills to 1 or 2 deaths in an entire game on foot? In a tank, maybe, but on foot? I got a loooong way to go. When's the next bus to noob school? |

With this system we wont run into guys wearing the highest possible gear every time they spawn and in every match. I believe this is part of the balancing.
After 5 deaths are you going to keep spawning with the same high end fitting. I only equip higher end fitting when I feel it is needed on the battlefield. It all depends on what the enemy is putting out and how my team is doing in the match.
Just my thoughts.
i agree. its just like in eve. an officer fitted battleship is not the best choice for big fleet fights, or a t1 fitted cruiser for 1on1. the same thing exists in Dust. spawning with a high-end fitting the whole battle, ignoring the different situations on the field, isn't the right way. - my thoughts so long =) |

You need to just be aware of your surroundings. The biggest mistake I see people make is just running out in the middle of the open. Run from cover to cover but don't stop moving.
If you see a tank, and you're not anti vehicle, get the hell out.
If you're engaging more than two people, stay cautious and make sure you have an exit from the firefight.
Staying alive isn't just about having better gun game than the other person, it's more about knowing what is happening around you at all times and adjusting your position and playstyle to fit that situation. |

+1 to this!
This is what alot of people seem to not grasp when going from high paced FPS such as CoD, to larger scale FPS games.

Yup, stick to that squad.
I was holding the area between B and the C spawn point yesterday and was just overrun by about 6 or 7 guys. (This would have been example of a time where I should have pulled back a little, I got selfish ) No matter how good someone is doing, multiple enemies really throw a wrench into things.
To all people that may be feeling like they are struggling, find a battle buddy and stick by their side. You're more likely to take down someone as two people then as one.
Stay away from me though, I like to work alone |

This thread is a lie. The maximum cost that I know of is 90 000 ISK for an Assault with all things upgraded. ISK can also be earned through doing team actions. Kills dont earn you nearly as much ISK as hacks, or vehicle kills. I've gotten up to 500 000 ISK in my Forge Gunner Advanced suit, just by blowing up poorly fitted Marauders and Suryas. Also, use Militia Gear to earn money, I know you probably care about your KD/R, and getting to the top of the boards, but KD doesnt matter much here when you dont have enoug money to use your suits. |

I totally agree with this. Personally I think I suck, but when I get with a good group I can do very well. Last night in one of the skirmish fights I had a good group and managed to rack up a few kills, hack some objectives, and feel like I made a contribution. The only time I died was one I either got pounded on by multiple enemies or I went off on my own.
Why do people respawn in a location that is being hacked? Wouldn't it be better to spawn a bit off and come in a different way? In another match it seemed like they tried to zerg the objective back and it wasn't good because there were like 3 or 4 of us holding the objective. |

If you pull out your best gear before you know what you're facing, EXPECT TO LOSE IT. If your best gear is worth more than you can earn, and you decided to charge into battle with it, well, that was stupid of you, wasn't it?
Don't bring what you can't afford to lose.
It worked for EVE, it works for DUST, and I roll mostly in Militia gear because I suck. I've tried a few runs in different Advanced and Prototype suits, but I don't get enough benefit from that gear to make it sustainable. |

After reading the whole thread, I've come to a few conclusions.
1. Barnes is really bad at math. 2. Peetreee is the new "go-to" resident Dust instructor/tutor. 3. Barnes needs to learn to use adv fits more. They cost half as much, and are 3/4 as good as the proto gear. (better bang for your buck, if you're struggling to make money) 4. Barnes needs to reevaluate his playstyle. For someone who thinks he's badass, he sucks at earning isk. 170-200k is avg for earnings for me. (and many others) There are a number of matches (where we have a good match) and earn 300-400k isk. FYI: I think in part, this is because you get more isk for killing guys in better gear than you. |

Imagine the other alternative to working for corps and alliances from dust and eve is to kill ai drones in hisec missions all day. Lots of eve players make the isk to buy shiny stuff with missions or through other professions. I don't understand the agitation from the op here... I make 200 to 300k per match which usually pays for at least one vehicle, and several my drop suits. I typically spend much less than 100k per match unless I splurge on a nice vehicle. Typically I die between 3 and 5 times, and my kill rare varies greatly bested on the role I take on during the match. I would imagine a person who is not making a profit in a typical match is too careless with his equipment, or not skilled at staying alive. I would also assume my average pay per match going up to the levels it has is due to the fact that the equipment people are carrying onto the field which I destroy is getting nicer. I was not making as much when I was killing basic militia type stuff. Anyways, there are things in eve that most people can't obtain from solo effort that they gain through collective effort. If one is unwilling to pursue collective effort goals in dust I imagine the maximum potential for what they can afford to loose on the field will be less than those working towards larger collective awards than the short term results of a single match.
Ps setting a budget for yourself per match helps you out, having some cannon fodder suits to throw away when you Find your team is completely outmatched is also very handy to preserving your wallet.
Also I got revived at an objective today for the first time Ever, got to use the same suit Twice. Yay |

so what I've learnt from this thread is that EVERYONE playing DUST is amazing and gets at least 20/1 every match, is that right?
I for one sometimes get killed quite a bit, there Ive said it. although my KDR is 2.1 at the minute and Im only rocking T1 assault armour (close to caldari level 4 sp requirements now) mainly because i dont get much time to play so only have about 3.5mil sp in total.
hang on, does that mean my reasonable stats are a result of skill over kit?? with a fit cost of about 15K Im reaping the cash whilst dying.
or have i missed the point somewhere, should i die more cos i play less? |
