Avenger 245 Crux Special Tasks Group Gallente Federation 477	Posted - 2012.07.15 18:04:00 - [1] - Quote i just had my biggest oh ** moment ever on dust, i just got out of intense cqc combat and the red guys were running away so i go and try and bounce a grenade off a wall only to have it drop strait down in front of me my heart was all ready going from the cqc and by some strange loss of gravity i throw my self off my chair saying "oh " trying to get away from a in game grenade that betrayed me, my merc dies my team is mad at me and i am on the floor with my family wondering whats wrong with me. i figured someone else have a worse stroy than me that would make me fell better so please post, and save my injured pride. [edit] figured i add my most recent moment to the front page was just playing a match and i train up my sniper skills, i walking along one of those huge roof things in skrimish and as i was walking a bug moves me 3 meters ahead of where i was standing, and thats over open air. ironiclly my brain makes a Wile E. coyoty reference. then i fall down onto the ground dead center of a group with 2 heavys 3 something else and a sargis tank needless to say my only response was oh **. EDIT another more recent one from this build Was running around and talking to someone in RL when all of a sudden a enemy lav rounds the corner has it comes towards me I put up my RL arms and legs to protect my face from a in game LAV speeding towards. It doesn't help I still die and my friend bust out laughing at me

Well I go running over a hill after that an I went to take a drink of my coors light (needed a drink after that battle) when i got over the hill I had 2 sargaris tanks pointed directly at me. I said oh ** forgot there was a drink in my other hand spilled that all over my lap and still got killed. Worst part was that it was my last beer smh
Rhadiem Algintal Core Gallente Federation 496	Posted - 2012.07.15 20:40:00 - [5] - Quote I barely survived a forge cannon beating in my Eryx dropship, and successfully landed it on a tower to heal up.. and blew up myself, my expensive ship, and my gunner because I didn't notice that this particular part of the tower was in the red zone. Definitely a Hero to Zero moment. :) But I didn't fall over IRL so I think you may still win. ;)

Snap shoot drop ship and kill it with SL and get two personnel kills (pilot & gunner?). Get killed by burning wreck as it falls on top of me.

I tend to play at night after the wife and kids go to bed, so i don't get quite so loud or animated about it IRL and thus can't beat your reaction. One time though i was defending the C objective with my forge from the roof top as i often do. After vaporizing some poor soul who tried to hack the terminal i turned around and up to check for Drop ships, and sure enough 30 or so feet above me one was gliding slowly down. It was so close and my heavy is just too slow to get away so i started charging my forge, figuring i'd at least make him limp away so someone else could kill him after i died. Luck was on my side though. It was a militia ship and i suppose it had taken a fair amount of damage before getting to me. My forge fired as the bottom of the ship was just inches from my face and the ship exploded killing me, the pilot, and both of his gunners. The best part? I had the com bug and was stuck in the enemy voice chat. The second they exploded the gunners started chewing out the pilot, calling him an idiot for "crashing" the ship (guess they thought they exploded from hitting the ground lol) and the pilot frantically apologizing "Oh man, i didn't think it would kill us. I didn't think it would kill us." Hands down my favorite Dust514 moment.

All the sudden I get the message that I need to reconnect my controller, (battery died.) So I immediately try to hook up my controller to the usb, when I see that the cord is no longer there! Now I'm freaking out. I jump up and start scanning the room for my cord as fast as possible when a heavy enemy walks up to my merc and stares at it for a bit before taking out his pistol and shooting me once, waiting a second, then shooting me a second time. Then I watch as he takes out his swarmers and tries blasting me with those. He goes through all 6 and I don't get a scratch. It was then that I found my cord right below the shelf my PS3 is on. I scrambled to it and watched in horror as the heavy began swiping at me. Once, twice, three times, four... I get my controller hooked up and started blasting him as fast as my little smg could shoot, but the heavy got off that last and final swipe before I could back up enough. And as soon as the screen said (O) Suicide, we blew up the MCC. I was so pissed at myself....

I take another militia one out, the turn around for more. I see nothing. Turn around again. Nothing. Turn back to the first side, and like a fking sea monster, it rises up from the ground. One badass Prometheus. I shoot him once. Nothing. Shoot him twice. Shields down. It rises up and then straight at my heavy, Charging up for a final shot, I fire and the burning ship crashes straight at me, 2 guys jump out and die, and my thumb randomly finds the triangle button. I press it and the flaming metal slides rigt over my head and to the ground. I turn back to the sun, flaming masses behind me. And from the afternoon bullet sounds only one word could be heard over the enemy mics. "Oh Sh*t."

Then heard a loud noise behind me and turned around... To find myself staring down the barrel of a Sagaris. Right after swapping AWAY from my Swarm Launcher. Kitten? Tried swapping weapons, and hit a lag spike, which fortunately also made the tank miss, and gave me a chance to get away from it while blasting away with my SMG (getting a few laughs from a teammate on the mic for being a noob).

O :) I was doing some Rail gun work, and just sniping away some guys attempting to try to get to the cannons to hack them (I use a rail gun as a sniper because scopes are for pussies ;) ) , I turn around to jump off that big tower, and a fng dropship was right behind me just looking at me............ at that moment I proceeded to ** myself and jump off the side before he rams me. But somehow, this idiot rammed the tower and squashed me lol.

I let go of the trigger button, turned around and ran away like a little girl. I did survive, not the most fun thing to be running away while one of those things is shooting at you.

Don't worry, you're not the only one missing it. Find the settings menu, it defaults to "off" for no coherent reason. You can turn it on there, and all will be well.

The best I thing were one where there were two of them literally falling over each other delivering vehicles to the same spot I guess, I killed one, and it in turn killed the dropship under it, and the tank next to it. + a lot of enemies trying to get into either.

While being on Left side, killing with one shot every one of Reds trying to take B, I saw a dropships shadow. I realized that guy has "parked" and is coming for me. I came to see him....and "Oh **..." HMG "ok...I'm screwed" one shot wont kill him...but I will not die without battle so I released R1, !!HIT!!...Running to the edge to make my escape. After shot I instinctively pressed R1. While on the ledge I turned over to see my killer....But hi didn't kill me so I released trigger (I was under the tower level) ...and I killed him . I was like "Oh **...really?" and forgot to press X while falling...Ground was so hard... The other thing is guy in the dropship that landed behind my back on the tower and started rocket camping campaign. So I shot him of the turret....HE DID THIS 5 TIMES IN THE ROW

Circling around while waiting for my ship since i got shot by said dropship missile launcher before, does register that i am directly under the dropship the moment i see a big shadow on the ground, then i get squashed. the dropship on tower fires at my dropship while i respawn, i enter it, fly to the rear end of the tower so that he won't see me, charge, and fly over him in front of him. Get attacked again, nearly lose my dropship, now i manage to push him off, see how both dropships explode on the ground, take out my swarm launcher, and take a step to the left since the tank is covered by the tower i'm standing on. Suddenly realize i stepped off the tower fall to the ground, right in front of the large turret of the tank.

I notice a sniper up in the hill's near a building and order gunners not to fire on him. Maneuver tank around the back of the hill (unsafe area) and with 5 seconds to spare manage to perch the crest of the hill. We see his red ticker light up from where he is, just a few meters beneath us. I kick it into acceleration and drive forward, burning down the hill like a bat out of hell only to completely miss the sniper with the tank in my attempt to run him down. We get to the bottom of the hill and the sniper (presumably shitting himself) disappears, and we're left fighting a crowd of infantry and vehicles in our neglect to note the surroundings during our hardcore objective of running over a sniper - just to do it. Tank was destroyed seconds later from SL fire and Tank rounds.

A LAV comes zipping around the corner to the north of A and immediately points his nose at me and accelerates. I draw a bead and start charging the forge gun and back up a bit. I crest the little hill there and start backing down the rear. The LAV hits the hill and SAILS over me, but I couldn't aim quick enough to get the assault forge gun to discharge at him. He lands about 20m away and turns around for another pass, right at me. I charge up the gun and predict his line. The gun discharges with the LAV maybe 5m in front of me, and I smoothly sidestepped the wreckage as it rolls to a stop where I stood seconds before =)

I had just called down my Surya, and while waiting I hear the roar of an LAV (they sound so much cooler than my tank), as I'm at the edge of his unsafe space, near my own rear base, I know where it must be coming from, I turn as see him coming straight at me. I manage to jump and dodge him as he's about to run me over. Just in time my tank arrives, I jump in, start turning as fast as it can, and the LAV is circling me a little too fast for his own good, as I can see he's heading straight for my sights, so I time it just right (50% luck I'd say), and picks him off just as he's jumping a hill. It was sweet.

I'd like to say I looked right back at em, grabbed my controller, and finished the job my team had started. I'd like to say that . . . Instead the cigarette landed on my lap, I knocked over my beer, and I did a faceplant into a forge gun, a HMG, and whatever else those bastards were packing. I try to save my cigarettes for the ready room now.

Not comes around a corner or is delivered by an RDV - actually texture-pops in. Right in front of me. I changed course to get behind it, hoping to beat the traversal of its turret. We exchanged shots, the Surya firing first and we were both deep into armor. It had the time advantage and I knew the engagement was pretty much over. It started to back up, cutting me off and perfectly lined up for the next point blank shot. When I rolled over it. Apparently the collision was sufficiently massive to deal a killing blow. I ended up with my smoldering Sagaris sitting atop the charred chassis of the Surya, shields quietly repping back. Gotta love those moments.

I back into A blindly, as that's better than the certain death coming from before me...right into another red. I kite them on the hill while all three form a triangle around me shooting a spray of metal death from their ARs, I drop my remote explosive and run straight at the southern-most guy. He runs right past me, I don't know what he was thinking! I blow the RE and kill all three, I only had about 20% armor left!

Spawned half a dozen heavy fits w/ forge gun or sniper rifle. Managed to sight toward him a few times. Couldn't freaking hit him. Started dropping uplinks all over the place in our little corner to throw them off. Kept getting 1shotted by the sniper Managed to run along the side with the barrier between me and him & call in a drop ship. Got away from the spawn campers. Faceplanted the ship into the tower I was trying to circle behind...bailed out of it before it took me to a fiery grave. Realized I'd already dropped all of my uplinks from the build while trying to get the dropship in play... Went to take out one of the sargis that had been camping us & ended up hacking it instead. Joyride lasted for 15 seconds before their other tank, 4 sets of swarm launchers & 2 forge guns hit me. Super FML moment.

Trying to see how it works out. So I made one and ran out to test it. I was parked at the base of the tower near B on that little cliff you can't climb but can only get to from behind. Then I noticed a dropship trying to climb the tower above me so I naturally unloaded into it. It went down in flames and the pilot came down almost on top of me. So there I am running from side to side with my SW and I figured "Oh hell, I may as well try and kill him". So he was blasting away at me with his AR and I started shooting my pistol at him 2 shots at a time between reloads. After about 10 seconds of this I managed to kill him. I was like "WTF??" And then I noticed my nanohive expired and I had no more. A painful end to an awsome moment.

I see the RDV bringing in my Gunnlogi, and at the same time a second RDV dropping another tank pops in. RDV's collide, the other tank was fine, mine comes swinging wildly at where I'm standing. Several Oh **** moments later, my tank is upside down, spinning like a top all over our red zone, and by some odd twist of game physics, it wouldn't stop. I kept chasing it in the hope that it would flip, it didn't, and sadly I didn't get to find out what happened to it, as I was sniped by a dropship on a tower with a missile launcher. Pretty sure teh upside down spinning tank of doom scared a few more people while I was waiting to respawn though.

Aldz D Crux Special Tasks Group Gallente Federation 49	Posted - 2012.08.26 02:02:00 - [64] - Quote well there are a couple of holy ** moments in some of my games in dust,,,, but there is one game where it was luck and a lost cause that save us it was a sniper battle against guys guarding the B Turret and we were inside a base that has the C turret in it, inside we were defending that one point cause it was already nearing the end with their ship on 20% armor and ours with 30% armor left we were owning them early......but they came back a bit due to us being careless and were just camping in one of the capture points.....while the others were trying to get D and A we were getting flank across the B turret....and one of our commander who has an orbital strike on the ready was unrensponsive and was afk inside the facility near C and even messaging him on psn....he still doesn't notice it so it was a tough capture point to protect when suddenly two sagaris tanks went inside the base of C where we are defending. teammates dying left and right our lavs defenses were destroyed and none of us had a tank yet . so it was a do or die for the 5 of us to just bait them both and hide until one of em drops out of the tank and try to capture C... it was so intense....i thought battlefield games were the only games that gives me these chills..........one of our guys went behind enemy lines and captured D while they focus their attention on us,,,our squad leader just gave up and wanted to just FF and try to either use the swarms or remote them . then the most unexpected dumbest thing happened as we were trying to get out......a sound of hordes of missiles,bombs,,,drop down from the sky above two sagaris...........and a goddamn old dude talking on mic saying,,, Dude: ohh my bad guys....i just went to eat..........there's the orbital drop that u want me to do few seconds later after he said that....The Words WE Win showed up in front of my screen...and it was the sweetest match and also the holy ** moments of me in dust.......in the weirdest and dumbest unexpected way possible.....

I run over to the supply depot two feet away, switch into my militia heavy, and wait. The friendly sagaris is destroyed, with the enemy one barely coming out on top. The driver breathes a sigh of relief... Until his screen goes grey and the killfeed says J'Jor Da'Wg [Militia Swarm Launcher] randomtankdriversnameiforgethere... I walk away, feeling like an absolute boss. I just took on a Sagaris and survived. **** yeah. The driver must have been PISSED to get finished by a militia swarm after all that tho. LOL

I call it in on the old Plateau map and am spinning around the field bouncing off the ground/pipes/tower, etc trying not to waste 300K. I had just gotten control and hovered over the objective when I get hit by AV fire and pitched over a barrier with the dropship stranded vertically on its back. Noooooooo!!! I try unsuccessfully to free/lift the dropship then briefly consider abandoning it as an enemy spawn is very close and I'm a sitting duck. Instead, I refuse to walk away from 300K and man the only turret not facing the ground which is now upside down. I finished the match with 4 turret kills and my dropship which spent the last 2-3 minutes of the match upside down and stranded. I was so unsure that should count as a "save" on the ship that I had to check inventory when I got back to Mercs Quarters. Awesome....

"Good thinking mate" I thought, because I didn't practice that in a while. Anyways, so I put the nose down and dived for cover between the buildings of capture points C and D. However, rocking a little too much inertia I had to pull back up so I changed plans and decided to land on one of the buildings. That worked well, except that I touched down slightly too early and the dropship rolled about a third of the way to its side. Too bad, I thought, but that was good practice anyway. Thus I decided to abandon the ship, end today's flight session and move on by foot. However, my clone appeared to be defective in some way because he figured that the best course of action would be to get out of the dropship on the side that was squished between the building and the dropship's hull. Well, lo and behold, it appears dropships are heavy! The game counted that particular demonstration of skill as a suicide and the match soon after ended. On the plus side the dropship wasn't destroyed until the match ended so I didn't even loose anything but my pride.

I value my life or at least my gear, so those situations are pretty much "nope nope nope nope nope noooooope" One of the best ones I have had was with when I was playing on my assault on the skirmish map in the last build. I was near the right capture point (from attackers perspective) going to help capturing the point C (the one in the low-mid) when all the sudden friendlies start dropping like flies and I see 2 well equipped tanks. I spend like the next 5 minutes dodging tanks behind those structures holding the "bridge" like thing and popping out hostiles when given the chance before friendlies decided to show up. Just recently I was one on one against this driver who probably who had this evil intention to add my corpse among his windshield decorations. The terrain was pretty open so I panicked and decided to turn around instead of trying to side step and saw this crazy solid bumb on the ground and ran over it and ducked, and saw the car literally jump over me to the mercy of 2 my teams tanks.

So i figured I just activate it after I respawned, nope, battle ended right before I respawned, was so ticked.

I happen to look up and see an enemy dropship just kinda hovering there. Aim my swarm launcher at it and blast off a couple of rounds (Not knowing about how to lock on yet) only to receive return fire from their gunners. Get hit by something other than the gunners and turn just in time to see a LAV slam into my face, about pooped myself. Then I spawn back in just in time to get sideswiped by the same GD LAV

LAV drives straight at me. only thing i thought was "this sounds just like the scenario for a "death or glory!" moment" start charging, note that it takes forever, stopped charging and managed to duck behind a rock(thank god the guy drove off without a gunner) started charging and went right out to the middle of the road again. somone must've hit em with an av grenade or two because it's shield and about 1/2 of its armor was gone when he came back. stood my ground, fired, BOOM. dead. flaming wreck comes to a halt just short of killing me. was great! until his buddy in the tank across the map noticed me. then, less great.

[edit] figured i add my most recent moment to the front page was just playing a match and i train up my sniper skills, i walking along one of those huge roof things in skrimish and as i was walking a bug moves me 3 meters ahead of where i was standing, and thats over open air. ironiclly my brain makes a Wile E. coyoty reference. then i fall down onto the ground dead center of a group with 2 heavys 3 something else and a sargis tank needless to say my only response was oh . EDIT another more recent one from this build Was running around and talking to someone in RL when all of a sudden a enemy lav rounds the corner has it comes towards me I put up my RL arms and legs to protect my face from a in game LAV speeding towards. It doesn't help I still die and my friend bust out laughing at me I make all the oh *** happen!

Someone had a spawn point up behind the northwest tower of the plateau so I use it, ok cool the battle's down below I turn around with just enough time to squeek an "OH **** THEY GOT A HAV ON THE UPLINK" over comms before taking a railgun round to the face. He was just sitting there, up on the hill chilling out for us to spawn. That was truly camping with style. Another time I was rolling as the front gunner in a tank leisurely killing anyone who wandered into my field of view. Heard an LAV engine coming closer. I get just enough time to react before the friendly LAV runs drives straight into the tank exploding in a glorious fireball...that somehow killed me in the process. Our tank driver just rolls away like nothing happens. We get good a minute or two of WTF over comms as we try and figure out just what happened.
