Legion and Fanfest wasn't just a PR ** up because of butthurt fans. It was because they abandoned their investment into the console market for fear of growing into a larger corporation and being sucked up into Sony.

Good Developers with long term planning would've gone for Consoles... The number of PS4 sold, the number of players spending $$$ for Dust beta... Just because he is a dev, it doesn't mean that he is no longer allowed to be human and voice his opinion. Regardless, ccp has eve which makes a lot of money and dust will still be making money with aurum so they have an obligation to keep it running until it starts costing money. Thats why development is so slow i believe, because to keep it they must make it so it is not costing money. If they behave like 99% of all companies on earth, then this will be the case. They also admitted that they have cut down the dev team so it must be. I think ccp does have a lot of love for dust otherwise they'd have just scrapped it. They can't simply be deleting a whole games worth of info as it is also good for the building blocks for another game cough legion. And they certainly can't be p1ssing off their investors anymore than they probably already did with that vampire game. They scrapped about 10 years of work i believe, ouch. Edit: dont be forgetting that most of their playerbase is on pc as well. This would make it even 'easier' to scrap as well if they wanted. That was spiffing.

Unfortunately the whole PC vs. Console debate is so emotionally charged that a single 4/10 troll post can get a whole thread going in bad directions pretty quick. Is the console playerbase the same? Up until about 2 years I would say absolutely not. As the PC keeps increasing in graphical processing power faster than consoles can keep up though, I feel like we are starting to see more gamers who want more out of their system start reaching for a much more affordable and easier to build PC than they were in the past. I converted to PC gaming in 2010 as I primarily play MMOs anymore, I only played Dust at all because I have a friend who couldn't afford a PC back when uprising first launched. He's since finished his masters and found a job, so now we play PC games together. You'll find that a lot of people are saying they have no reason to buy a PS4/XB1. I wonder if that will change at all over the next 3-4 years. I certainly see no reason to buy one and part of me wishes that neither of them exist today so we might actually get some decently optimized PC games for once. They are both as shtty as each other but pc gamers have more experience with more 'complex' games and so better feedback. An example is ultiima online vs diablo. Ultiima online - just as good and in depth as WoW but you could DO MUCH MORE. and pvp almost anywhere. It was the eve of fantasy styled mmo's. Diablo - A linear dungeon raider where you point and click over and over and over again....... They both came in the same year, In fact diablo didn't come to console until a few years later......1998. With the ps4 though, console players are catching up, kind of. I think the ps4 is good for next gen games for many years to come. I have one but all the games are re hashed crap with nice graphics. I never played bf3 but i have bf4 with premium and im guessing that the let down i experienced and the bland and shtty game play is exactly what a lot of bf vets feel because they don't seem too happy with it either. That's why im looking forward to planetside 2 on the ps4. From a ps4 version review. That said, the game looked great running on the PS4 (and better than when I last played a year or so ago) and was running between 30 and 50 frames per second before optimization. There's still no mini-map or store, but the loadout screens and other parts of the UI are complete. YOU CAN TOGGLE AIM ASSIST OFF AND ON. The touch pad on the DualShock 4 will allow you to map certain commands to different areas (if you've gotten the hang of that giant button). Jump in and farm!, fk yeah!. That was spiffing.

The whole game would have been more eve like in the manner that we'd interact with the whole galaxy rather than being annexed to molden heath (which is pretty useless space in eve might i add) and simply playing random matches where we just magically teleport all over the galaxy and don't even explore it. We aren't even tied in to the economy. The whole galaxy of content is already there. Right off the bat we'd have at least 15k players at peak times as ccps playerbase is in eve and dust would have been linked to eve. There'd be a hell of a lot more to do because it would be linked to eve. They could have actually fixed dust a lot by making it so we still play the game how it is in a manner, but capsuleers in space would call the shots and hire us to take and hold land that they own. We'd still be playing the same game as mercenaries and the more complex stuff would have been done in eve where they would have had the capability to do all the stuff that dust could have had anyway. they could have actually used the planets for a myriad of things and there'd be no worry about opening up more space for conquest because it's already in eve anyway. The capsuleers would have the means to make much more use of planets and do much, much more and in turn, it would have made the game much more dynamic for us. Corps in dust could have been hired from a roster, we'd set our price for rent etc. Maybe the eve corps would have manufactured items so we could possibly get all our items paid for as a bonus by some corps?, a before match armoury perhaps?, the choices for integration could have been so much more and eve and dust corps would have made a lot of interaction because they'd have to. There'd have still been pubs, fw and planetary conquest. Maybe in fw, eve pilots could have had the option to bring clones to specific battles by installing mobile crus in their ship, we'd then do fw as normal and be transported by a fleet with guaranteed ob support. Naturally you could just spawn in randomly anyway but for people who are more organised, there'd have been a bit more depth if they wanted. A good example is transport. The eve players at least could have transported us around the galaxy and while they get X amount of jumps as an eta, we'd get the timer and this could be anywhere from less than a minute to maybe a lot more. It would have made it all much more dynamic and dust wouldn't have needed to change much, the content would have been made in eve, we'd still be playing this game but with more interaction and a better feeling of immersion. Quite a few people suggested stuff like this but it was shot down every time. Naturally, the masses didn't want any of that and you can see the grand outcome in planetary conquest, a more time consuming version of skirmish with no actual logistics or anything, no interaction with eve really and annexed to molden heath, yawn. And i have been playing eve for maybe 5 months, dust for over a year and a half. I had the experience from much more in depth games from pc, that's why i knew this but i was p1ssing in he wind every time because we are on console. Hopefully legion will fix that. That was spiffing.

I am wondering if we will get a response from ccp although I am not sure another reassurance will do much good. This game has a bad stigma that it can't seem to shake off of it. His comment could be interpreted as a joke but it could also be interpreted as he meant what he said. I have seen him rage a few times and I can't blame him. There were many of us that played EVE that really urged CCP to reconsider making DUST for the PS3 and instead to opt to make it as a PC game. A lot of us saw these kinds of problems arising. We later always found the notion of a 5-10 year plan for DUST as a niave one at best going off of the lifespan of average console games. Now we hear those same devs saying "**** consoles" its just like - that's what we were saying from day one! I also feel kind of bad for some of the other DEVS. But CCP FoxFour is just a dude who writes software. He writes the software his bosses tell him to write. (And a little extra for us DUST mercs sometimes.) But he doesn't decide what gets made for console or PC, and in some cases, he might fully agree with you or whomever else, but be unable to say it because one often does not speak contrary to the party line of the company when one wants to remain employed. My personal view is that the decision to make a PS3 game was not necessarily a mistake. At least, it wasn't to blame for DUST's troubles. CCP bears sole responsibility, in my book, for DUST's success or failure on any platform. The hardware was plenty good enough, as seen by other games. My particular peeve, is the decision to change tracks, and switch platforms, in either direction. Whether Legion succeeds or fails, again, won't be because it's on PC. Now we hear those same devs saying "**** consoles" its just like - that's what we were saying from day one! I also feel kind of bad for some of the other DEVS. I'm not a fan of consoles at all myself but there are a handful of games that made me get the PS3. (Metal Gear Solid games and DUST primarily for me) QFT ...
