People should be "shot" for calling him out on something that he himself typed? (regardless whether we personally agree or not it IS unprofessional of him)

"Speaks to his care and concern for the DUST community" - I find that very hard to believe considering he just said f**k that to the very thing he is supposed to support.
Regardless of that Rattati and others are trying to make amends with the DUST console community, trying to make the game better every hotfix and then this comes along!
I'm sorry but it sounds like you just have a high personal opinion of him. The fact is it was typed and then deleted. That says everything we need to know.

I do not like consoles either (I am a PC and Nintendo guy, I have no love for the PlayStation 3), though I will say I am massively committed to supporting console DUST players and the community that they've built.
I've actually never spoken with him personally, but people have their target crosshairs way off if they thing CCP FoxFour has done anything but his absolute best for DUST.
I'm guessing he deleted it because he realized something just like this thread would happen.

For target practice, that was a complete and utter gross display of gun ho, seriously.
That couldn't have been anymore improper and a blatant way to just p1ss money away for free target practice. The amount of crap they were packing was totally not realistic unless they plan on house sieges lasting about 3 days lol.
That is also completely fked up.
So how does s.w.a.t actually work because i see much more professional manner from the people i go airsoft with at my local site. Those people all seemed like newbs on their first day and seemed to be having minor complications with the most basic sht, the guy who wasn't holding his gun correctly for example, looked like a bucnh of armed clowns who just want to shoot stuff.
That was spiffing.

After rethinking about this, I and others have probably over reacted a little bit. So I apologise for that.
I also truly appreciate the calm mannered response from you Soraya. I'm surprised. I guess I really do not know you as well as I like to think I do. (Going off of forum posts alone of course)
Let me be clear, I'm more mad just generally at CCP for the whole turn of events.
There were many of us that played EVE that really urged CCP to reconsider making DUST for the PS3 and instead to opt to make it as a PC game. A lot of us saw these kinds of problems arising. We later always found the notion of a 5-10 year plan for DUST as a niave one at best going off of the lifespan of average console games. Now we hear those same devs saying "**** consoles" its just like - that's what we were saying from day one!
I also feel kind of bad for some of the other DEVS.
I'm not a fan of consoles at all myself but there are a handful of games that made me get the PS3. (Metal Gear Solid games and DUST primarily for me)

I totally get the anger in the thread. I really do. Because I share it. But there is a wide variety of people who can be blamed for these issues, on the business and leadership side. But CCP FoxFour is just a dude who writes software. He writes the software his bosses tell him to write. (And a little extra for us DUST mercs sometimes.) But he doesn't decide what gets made for console or PC, and in some cases, he might fully agree with you or whomever else, but be unable to say it because one often does not speak contrary to the party line of the company when one wants to remain employed.
My personal view is that the decision to make a PS3 game was not necessarily a mistake. At least, it wasn't to blame for DUST's troubles. CCP bears sole responsibility, in my book, for DUST's success or failure on any platform. The hardware was plenty good enough, as seen by other games. My particular peeve, is the decision to change tracks, and switch platforms, in either direction. Whether Legion succeeds or fails, again, won't be because it's on PC. It'll be whether or not CCP has learned from it's mistakes with DUST.

Shooters just don;t do well on PC... Warframe makes more money of PS4 then it does off PC... And there is a pretty massive difference in market size between the two. Planetside 2 server populations combined are that of DUST in Open Beta..
It will be sad but Legion won't pull the numbers in any long run... And DUST has been treated like a red headed stepchild for 2 years Destroying CCP's name and credibility on consoles. Some on these Forums might have a High opinions of DUST But the rest of the gaming community looks on with disdain. |
