That causes us to spawn in without or bonuses and skills applying? Can someone explain this to me? Because frankly this is quite a game breaking bug/glitch, at least for me.
When you spawn in a Min Scout only to take 3 or 4 seconds longer to hack a point and you die with 1 one bar left on the hack
When you spawn in an Amarr Assault and have your ScR pop on you after ONE charge volley
When you spawn in on an EWAR fit Cal Scout and a TANK SNEAKS UP ON YOU
When you spawn in with a Forge Gun to kill a pesky tank and watch as they nonchalantly roll away while you shoot blanks at them
So, CCP, hotfix? Explanation? Please feel free to enlighten me as to why this issue exists or give more examples of how this glitch can royally **** you over

I have come to the conclusion that they have no idea what they screwed up and are at a total loss on how to fix it. That's why we are getting these pointless hotfixes now, to make it seem like they are really hard at work to fix what they screwed up.
They offer no excuses or insights into the matter because they simply cannot. If they knew what the problem was and how to fix it it would have been done by now.

I just don't understand how it was all fine and dandy in 1.7 then all of a sudden 1.8 comes around and this new issue arises. It's odd that its fixed by simply waiting for a while to see your armor and shield values finally fill up to know that your skills and bonuses have applied, for some reason these skills are not loaded in with the suit as you spawn.
I'm no programmer I have no clue, I just know it blows

More examples: Commando spawning on a point missing two complex damage mods and 25% reload speed. That's easily enough to lose you a fight, an objective, and a match. Spawning in a regen-tanked Cal heavy and missing out on 25% of your EHP. Trying to use a scrambler pistol, then failing when you discover that you're missing over 1/3rd of your total clip size because the Ops bonus hasn't applied yet.

In EVE they have the exact same problem after some patches. Innate shield/armor/hull bonuses and even leaderhip bonuses do not get applied right away or it becomes like Russian roulette every time you change systems whether or not you get your skill bonuses or not. Apparently the same order of operations mechanism found its way into DUST as well.

I'm going to put in a crazy theory and say that perhaps they changed the code for when logi's drop equipment the bonuses resets on suit switch/spawn so people don't equipment spam, and in turn, that done screwed all sort of things up.
Or they just screwed something all together. Either way, I hate dying because spawning in afterwards is probably going to result in a another very quick death.

You are correct. When you spawn in with less displayed armor/shield, NONE of your skill bonuses are applying. IF you are an Amarr logi, and you see your shield/armor lower, then your uplinks do not spawn with the logi bonuses.
I have to agree that it's a pretty huge bug. Not quite rising to the level of game breaking, but pretty high up there. Dust is about character progression through skills. This bug, in essence, invalidates that entire idea--that entire core concept of the game.
It's also a glaringly large issue that honestly I cannot see how a QA tester didn't see. It should have been quite obvious and apparent that something was up, given the visual display in the UI reflecting lower armor/shield spawn amounts. That being said, I'm certain CCP is well aware of the issue and is working on a fix for it. Guys, they don't want their game broken as much as we don't want it broken. For them, it is their very business to make the game. We'll get a fix as soon as one is available and they get it through Sony's upload process.
And then of course there's Fanfest. I'm sure that will be something we should all take note of and watch (or attend!) in May.

This, just got into eve and its really made me bitter as fk at the state of dust. Sack shanghai, raise Reykjavik wages I say. Provided the Reykjavik crew would be cool with that, I'd not like it imposed on them. The lack of interaction with eve is ridiculous, oh wait guys, we can dial an ob, deep immersion right there.
Its obvious that shanghai is missing the point, they should have the e3 trailer on repeat at each f ing desk there. We do not want the lobby experience to get better, we want dust!.

We are just outside three weeks until Fanfest 2014. Between fixing 1.8 glitches, general issues, forum rage, and convention preparations they're hands are pretty full. It wouldn't surprise me if post tags become very rare.
I certainly share the Lieutenant's concerns. My Main is staying in his quarters until it is fixed or CCP lures him out with candy. On the bright side the Combat Engineer ALT is getting good game-time.
Edit: Ten post before I can type this out and deal with one r/l emergency, really?

My theory is that it got screwed up somewhere along the way when CCP incorporated racial suit skill bonuses into the efficacy of the 1.8 logi equipment. So instead of reapplying just the racial skills with regard to equipment whenever you change suits, it now reapplies all core skills, accompanied by an annoying delay in which no core skills are applied.
The real question is how CCP didn't notice this in their testing of 1.8; you'd figure the glaring lack of full armor/shields just as you spawn/change suits would be a dead giveaway. |

Which is why Play/Stress/Bug testing exists. As most people have mentioned, how do you not look at the partially filled semi circle indicating your health and not think; "hmm wonder whats up with that"
Instead its:
"hmm wonder whats up with that"
"Idk man should we like, diagnose the issue?"
"OH LOOK IT FILLED UP, were good! READY FOR RELEASE!"

The fact is that writing bug-free code is impossible, even in projects that have had the combined work of thousands of people for dozens of years (see the Linux OS), and fixing one bug can produce ten others.

Agreed but I think the reason why people, myself included, are so up in arms about it is because of the blatant lack of internal testing CCP does. Coding is tough and you're right writing bug free codes are near impossible, but again that is why internal testing and screenings are done, there is no excuse to release 1.8 with a bug like this in the code

An example: Republic Scout mk.0 having 3 equipment slots on release of 1.8
I ask myself "how did this happen?"
While I understand that mistakes can happen especially when rushed but the only things that come to mind would be either
- Someone was going to be quitting and purposely messed things up.
- CCP gave some new guy the job of doing the LP store suits and the monkey had no idea what he was doing.
Literally nothing else would be an alright excuse for this mess up. This isn't the only things that was broken. All of the broken Cal/Amarr scouts and light frames at launch. Messed up skill multipliers which included skills that weren't corrected until a few days ago.
